Not sure if its better to post here or into story... I kinda begin to wonder - Island Aumaua from deadfire imply that character is part of Huana clans or part of newblood Principi. So I wonder if we consider character to be part of Huana, what clan he would be from/what class would be look logical to travel to Dyrwood either to stay or as a intermediate position? What caste character should have been? Is it even possible to make a character who is a part of huana who would look lore friendly?

The Deadfire-Pack merchant Ponamu Bird-Scorned in Anslög's Compass is Huana. Kuaru is the caste for traders so I guess he's Kuaru. But I can also imagine a Mataru warrior coming to the Dyrword as escort, on a diplomatic mission or similar stuff. Even a Roparu makes sense if he used to be a simple deckhand for example.

So most likely laborer, hunter or aristocrat as a origin then?

But what class would be most huanu? Probably ranger with lion companion at least there is quite a lot of lion companions in Wahaki village. Or maybe barbarian. I think barbarian maybe best bet then

Backgrounds: Yes I guess so.

Aristocrat is tricky since it somewhat doesn't fit the caste system of the Huana. Mataru is the highest caste and the Ranga is always from the ranks of the Mataru (I believe?). But a Ranga can be seen as an aristocrat I think?

I don't know if hunters are Mataru or Kuaru but I believe Mataru. Hunter and Warrior seems to be the same thing with the Huana (like with the Glanfathans basically, too).

Laborer can be Kuaru or Roparu, depending on the kind of labor I guess.

Judging by Deadfire's Huana there are Monks, Paladins (undisclosed orders), Barbarians, Fighters, Rangers, Druids (Watershapers of course), Chanters (Stormspeakers), Priests (see Priests of Tangaloa, Magran, Ngati etc. in Neketaka) and so on. I didn't see many ciphers beside the Queen or wizards. The classes which have the most Huana "vibe" to me are Ranger, Barbarian, Druid, Priest and Chanter.

Problem that standart druid doesn't have this "water" vibe, more focusing on "forest" so it is not particulary Huanu. Chanter might work though...

Forgot about monk. He is probably most universal out of all characters as their paths looks like quite universal

Priest... As far as I understand proper huanu do not worship standart engwithan pantheon opting instead for their own "versions" that does have certain differences(at least judging by differences Odra godlike and Ngati godlike)

True... You'd have to ignore some stuff - but I think Priest of Berath (Tangaloa) would work quite well.

Druids in PoE get all their spells without selecting specific ones - so you're right that a "water vibe" is hard to get unless you strictly don't use the other spells.

Maybe Berath, yeah. Though to be fair priests in poe1 have not that much of uniquness when it comes to gods and so maybe other gods will work too. Apart from Magran. Durance will take care of that xD

Hmm.. But huanu priests doesn't have proper "background" in poe1. Calling priest Mataru "hunter" or "aristocrat" isn't exactly correct
