Let the name of Trump be stricken from every book and tablet, stricken from all pylons and obelisks, stricken from every monument of the United States of America. Let the name of Trump be unheard and unspoken, erased from the memory of men and women for all time.

am more than a little uncomfortable with having trump be identified with moses, stripped o' his worldly possessions and honors and driven into the desert to rule serpent and scorpion.  heck, am not thinking trump deserves to be favorable compared to charlie heston.

HA! Good Fun!

ps am ok with the driven into the desert part, but am suspecting all that entails is an extended vacation in dubai.

Just go with the theory that Moses ~ Akhenaten. Then we could have Trump be rediscovered 3000 years later, have a famous bust of Melania in a Berlin Museum, and extensive excavations of his palace at Amarna el Lago.

I am very surprised anyone would advocate Trump being banished into the desert?

I am sure its unconstitutional that kind of punishment but more importantly banishment is suppose to be punitive , Trump is very industrious and he would end up creating some sort  of " Trump Super  Desert Casino  "

Remember Vegas, never forget Vegas

I think Melania is very attractive so I would be fine with that 8)

Who needs a desert? Isn't Guantanamo fit for purpose anymore? 🤔

I thought it was just for dangerous individuals in general, like best never seen and never heard from again (especially without access to basic rights and pesky lawyers)

Funny how McConnell is being more assertive now about Trump. If the Republican congress critters had show more backbone in December, the sack of the Capitol building might never have happened.

I doubt it. Trump's marauders would just call Mitch a traitor and visit his office as well.

The movement to dump Trump is only happening because Trump is currently away from influence and is deeply unpopular after the MAGA Putsch. Mitch (as well as most Republicans and social media companies) would be doing something entirely different if Trump had made headway in his attempts at legal trickery and/or the maga mob was favorably received. Within the next decade when we see off-brand Trumps get into positions of power you'll see the same folks currently taking a stand going back to sitting down and enabling just like they did with Trump. Hell, within 20 years we may see Trump get whitewashed in the same way W Bush is.

Bull****.  In two years the pendulum will swing left because it has nowhere else to go.  Trump will be largely forgotten and overridden.  The right had their chance to get a leg up in the culture war and the blew it, leaving his lingering support pariarah grade.

They couldn't. Haven't you heard?

Apparently it was done by Putin's order, and Trump instigated a capitol coup as per his puppetmaster orders... M

I  have decided to embrace reconciliation  and the reasonable objective of " healing the nation " . I am more than prepared to accept the new and more constructive opinions of the likes of McConnell and Lindsay Graham. These established Republicans supported Trumpism but this was more about political survival than flawed  or dysfunctional ideology that was associated with much of Trumpism

Trumpism is going to fade quickly IMO, especially with how Trump has been his own worst enemy by not accepting defeat and then the attack on Capitol just added to the damage done to most positive views of his political legacy

But its best not to dwell on the past on all  previous political developments  and for me that means in the interest of uniting the USA I am glad the Republican establishment is slowly but inexorably distancing themselves from Trump

As Biden said recently " dont tell me it cant be done, it can be done if we want it to "

These pardons are just another example of abuse of power of  the presidency from Trump

Trump Revokes Lobbying Ban After Promising to ‘Drain the Swamp’

"Trump’s ethics pledge originally restricted political appointees from lobbying the agencies they worked at for five years after leaving government employment. The order also prohibited former political appointees from lobbying work for a foreign government or foreign political party."

one o' the few positive executive orders from trump were rescinded. his cronies may continue the grift.

We send people to prison for the dumbest stuff. Both of those rappers pardoned had weird cases. Seems ridiculous that a president has to even be involved in something like that.

If history is any guide Biden can expect a very soft ball treatment from the media for quite a while. Expect a great deal of fawning  praise and undignified boot licking. It won’t last forever. They even turned on Obama after a time. But you have to figure he’s going to get at least a year or two of kids glove handling

y'know, am suspecting it won't be just fox. sure, from noon today fox will be over-the-top selling their nightmares of a socialist state inexplicable delivered by biden of all people, but am thinking cnn, abc, wapo, ny times, 'mongst others has learned one valuable lesson from the trump administration: the press exists to challenge power and not to befriend it. yeah, there will be more than a couple journalists who will sell positive press to get more access. no surprise. after all, there is incredible pressure to be first with the next big headline. and yes, since biden became the democrat nominee, many folks in the press have been selling him as the sea change america needs; is gonna difficult to be objective when you have been selling salvation for almost a year, no? nevertheless, am suspecting one o' the few good changes wrought by the trump administration, though unintentional, will be legit media sources being far less accommodating o' those in power.

'course we could be wrong and first six months to two years o' the new administration could be a biden love fest... and not just at msnbc.

Nice that Pence is at the inauguration of Biden, its important that Republicans who want a political future in a normal and " healthy " US political environment recommit to the decorum and etiquette that use to exist before Trumpism

The decorum matters, it always has and the  Trump theater  showed me what can happen when you decide it doesn't matter or is irrelevant
