The Size and Scaling of Grounded

Recommended Posts

I been playing awhile, especially jumping into creative to get a few references for any fan art I might make, most recently I decided to jump back in to do some size scaling in Grounded. I did so with the shoe print both my real world scale, and the in-game scale.

Getting off topic here, I did a scaling with the fence by the house and sandbox, as well as the door, and they aren’t to scale. I know you said in your video diaries that we are 1 inch tall, but that isn’t the case, in truth, we are  of an inch tall, or close to half an inch really.

And as for the door and fence, either hobbits live here, or this is a toy house for kids, but the fence is 2’3” high and the door is 3’4” high. Fences are usually 4-6ft while doors are 7ft, knowing the height of my character helps me to create a base point.

Standing next to two stem weed walls,  or a stack of hour foundations gives me the height of 1 inch, next I just crunch in the numbers, and there, I know this is suppose to be just a game, not to be as realistic as this. I only did this so I could make my drawings a bit more accurate using my posing apps, plus the idea of surviving against bigger enemies too, I need to know what I’ll be up against too.

Player size seems pretty consistent with being 1/100th "normal."  One of the early promo images (also in the downloadable fankit), seems to imply the character is about 14mm tall (9/16 inch).  Though, in-game, it seems like you may be a millimeter or two taller based on your size compared to world items.

But yeah.  A little higher than half an inch seems to be your height.
