Listening to Heilung is like stepping into a time machine. The old world before the scourge of Christianity swept over northern Europe

There is something eminently enjoyable about them, I love listening to their albums

I have a spotify playlist that I listen to at work where they are featured quite alot, and I do get alot of weird looks at times when they come on, especially Alfadhirhaiti, Krigsgaldr and Hamrer hippyer 😄

Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. Mencken

I've seen that video of Traust before. What's up with the weird bondage ritual?

Then fifth I will chant thee,

If fetters perchance

Shall bind thy bending limbs:

O'er thy thighs do I chant

A loosening-charm,

And the lock is burst from the limbs,

And the fetters fall from the feet.

Well, it is a bondage ritual. Duh! :p

I'm the enemy, 'cause I like to think, I like to read. I'm into freedom of speech, and freedom of choice. I'm the kinda guy that likes to sit in a greasy spoon and wonder, "Gee, should I have the T-bone steak or the jumbo rack of barbecue ribs with the side-order of gravy fries?" I want high cholesterol! I wanna eat bacon, and butter, and buckets of cheese, okay?! I wanna smoke a Cuban cigar the size of Cincinnati in the non-smoking section! I wanna run naked through the street, with green Jell-O all over my body, reading Playboy magazine. Why? Because I suddenly may feel the need to, okay, pal? I've SEEN the future. Do you know what it is? It's a 47-year-old virgin sitting around in his beige pajamas, drinking a banana-broccoli shake, singing "I'm an Oscar Meyer Wiene"

More northern European stuff. Possibly an acquired taste, unless you're from there. Then it probably runs in your genes 😝

And of a slightly more martial nature:

Not quite as old as the Proto-Germanic stuff, but from the year Gorth was born...

...and from a couple of years before

...and also from 1966 I think (might be wrong, will need to look it up) 🤔

am from the dakotas, and is less a gene thing than environmental... rusted out ford pickups, endless barbwire fences and the indescribable silence o' an arrow-straight highway which stretches two-lanes without a vehicle in sight all the way to the horizon under a sky so blue it would make your heart weep.

we grew up with one foot in a stirrup and busting our arse on a ranch where you never quite caught up with all the work which needed be done. bruce doing a bit o' country on his last couple albums speaks to something fundamental in us.

...

am suspecting the sacrilegious aspect o' the final offering may  appeal to @Gorth

HA! Good Fun!

am not certain what this says 'bout Gromnir, but first thing we thought o' when @Gorth mentioned 80s music nostalgia were the following movie bit.

is a song by the call, performed by some guy who no doubt has a name but we always identify as "the sax man."

everything 'bout the scene screams 80s... although the song itself coulda' been a staple on those religious rock stations in the south and midwest as is faith focused... wouldn't be surprised to hear it right before an amy grant song on the play list.  using in the lost boys context as it were is only that much more 80s.

HA! Good Fun!
