Source: CNBC: How the eviction crisis across the U.S. will look, July 17, 2020

With the notable exception of NY, seems that the states that will be hit the hardest by the eviction → homeless crisis are mostly red states: WV (59%), KY (58%), TN (58%), MS (55%), FL (51%), etc.  Seems like Trump and Republicans have abandoned their own states.

The worse news for those red states is: their COVID 19 crisis is about to worsen with record-breaking infection and death rates.  So, there will not be any relief coming anything soon for those red states and about half of all their renter populations who are about to become homeless.

The USA will officially become a FAILED STATE very soon.  All it took was four years of the historically incompetent Trump presidency to accelerate the decline for the US to reach that point.

P.S. I will still be voting for Trump, if I even go out to vote at all.  I will definitely NOT vote for Biden.

I mean, that was the reason why people voted for Trump in 2016, wasn't it?  To burn down the the system, and then just watch everything burn.

I know that, if I actually vote, I will vote for Trump, not because I agree with him or even Republicans,  (i.e., I'm a self-proclaimed socialist;) but because I want to accelerate the demise of the current system in America.  Bernie and Tulsi had the right ideas, but they were WEAK, and they have bent the knees to the "Republican Lite" party establishment.

Frankly, I am actually enjoying watching all the protests and riots.  Delious!  Pity that the protests and riots have been over some identity politics and woke issue, (i.e., Black Lives Matter,) instead of over REAL issues like class, corporatism, corruption, cronyism, economy, education, healthcare, housing, inequality, wars, etc.   So, let it burn, baby, let it burn!  I want to see just how much PAINS Americans can take before the whole country rise up, revolt and burn down everything, before the US suffer a catastrophic collapse like the USSR.  I want to see a French Revolution in the US, in which angry mobs drag the oligarchs and villainaires like Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg and their familes out of their homes, strip them naked and march them down the Walk of Shame, and then send them straight to the guillotine for public viewing.

Apparently not enough pains yet.  So, four more years of Trump should do nicely.  Gotta add a bit more spicy hot pepper before the main course is ready to serve.

I'm fairly sure that would've been Putin's motives for supporting Trump as well (a cat fight between China and the US is like happy hours for Putin) ;)

The fight between China and the US has been brewing for 20 years* and would have happened in some form even if Hillary were elected. The only 'election' which might have put it off was if Xi had stuck to his limited term and someone a little less Xi like (assertive/ aggressive depending on view) had replaced him. Even then it would be delayed only. Hegemons are natural enemies, and both see themselves as hegemons.

*ironically, it traces back to the western 'triumph' in Kosovo. That was the final nail in the already disintegrating Yeltsinist approach in Russia when dealing with the west, and blowing up the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade with no repurcussions set the scene for how China's leadership sees the US. Neither would put up with similar treatment again. Just another way Bill Clinton's Presidency looks worse in retrospect than it did at the time.

China wants Trump to win the November election.  I have been saying this for a long time, (since last year,) and those "analysts" and "pundits" have finally caught up:

Links:

https://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2020/07/why-china-wants-donald-trump-win/613864/

https://www.cnbc.com/2020/07/27/a-trump-second-term-could-give-china-an-advantage-analyst-says.html

Simply put:

Anti-China is now the official foreign policy of the USA and will continue, regardless of who becomes the President and is in charge. Like the Cold War with the USSR, it did not matter if the USA had a Democratic or Republican President; the Cold War had continued.  It will not matter if Trump or Biden is the next President; the USA will be in a cold war with China. However, LEADERSHIP will determine if the USA will be effective or not in countering China.  And, we are witnessing how utterly incompetent, ineffective and useless Trump is as a leader of America.

The USA, especially after the coronaviral pandemic, will NOT be able to counter or defeat China on its own. China has become too powerful and strong, especially economically, for the US to be able to defeat alone or by itself. The US must work with its allies to form an anti-China coalition to successfully counter China, economically.

President Trump is the single biggest obstacle for the traditional USA allies to come together and successfully forming an anti-China coalition.

Trump's EGO is the obstacle for the USA and its allies to work together. Trump, being the egomaniac as he is, has demanded foreign leaders like Canada's Trudeau, France's Macron and Germany's Merkel to bow down to him, bend their knees to him, cater to his ego, kiss his ring and arse and kowtow to him, as the precondition for the USA to work with them against China.  That was and is never gonna happen. All other world leaders have egos of their own.

Moreover, Trump has made it obvious that he wanted to undermine the LIBERAL governments of allied nations, (just as he has tried to undermine local and state Democratic governments in America.) He has been insulting, offending and undermining Canada's Trudeau, France's Macron, Germany's Merkel, and other LIBERAL world leaders, and those leaders could see what Trump has been doing.  Therefore they have no interest in working with Trump to form a coalition against China.

On the domestic front: Trump has proven to be completely incompetent and utterly useless, while Biden is obviously senile.  Between the two "bad choices", who would be the better choice in dealing with China?

Trump has too big of an ego, and he refuses to listen to his advisors and people who know better.   Trump keeps disrupting and interfering in the decisions of his advisors, cabinet and "experts" because he that thinks he knows better and the best.  Trump thinks he is "the best" in everything, (even though we have finally seen the proof of how much of a moron Trump really is when he bragged about passing a rudimentary cognitive test of "person, women, men, camera, TV," on a national TV segment that has become the laughing stock internationally.)

If Biden becomes the President, at least we know he will step aside to fall asleep in a White House meeting about China, and let his advisors, cabinet and experts make the important decisions and executions in dealing with and taking down China (as well as other policy issues,) which is better than whatever Trump has been doing and screwing up with his "I am the best, I know everything, and I do not have to listen to anyone" attitude and ego.

Therefore: as long as Trump is the US President, the USA will NOT be able to work with Canada, France, Germany and other nations to form an effective coalition to counter China.  The USA will NOT be able to have any cohesive or effective strategy against China, (or any cohesive or effective policies and strategies except more tax cuts and money printing for villainaires like himself.)    And THAT works in China's advantage. Which is why China wants Trump to have another four years in the White House... four more years for China to gain strength and grow more powerful.  China has already become too powerful and strong for America to take down on its own.   In another five to ten years, China will become too powerful and strong for even a united Western coalition to overcome.

The coronavirus is the prefect opportunity for world leaders and people of the world (all which are very upset at China at unleashing the pandemic to the world and into their countries) to come together and form a coalition to take down China.   America will likely NOT get another opportunity like  this again. America is running out of time.  It is a race, and China ain't gonna stop and wait for America to catch up.

However, I will still vote for Trump over Biden, simply because I want to see America BURN.

Well on the one hand it would legitimize any American foreign intervention on the other hand it would open the elections to more corruption as we can't really properly supervise our current voting, would be worse if it was global. So in short, it's a win win for the oligarch, internationalist **** that rule politics.

I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"*

noteworthy the author is french and does not believe france should reciprocate with similar international participation in its national elections... at least not until france gains similar world prominence as the US.

*insert eye roll*

next time you go to france, strike up a conversation with a random french person 'bout their immigration issues or the clichy. give the french person your unsolicited advice and see how they react. when they do, point to clémence michallon and observe how as the US has such a prominent place on the world stage, it is your right and duty to shepherd the french.

somebody should inform ms. michallon that if she wants input, she gotta concede actual authority. is doubtful she thought this through.

would blame on french being french, but am suspecting michallon ain't as much o' an outlier as we would initial assume.

HA! Good Fun!

BBC - Portland protests: Federal forces ready for phased pull-out

US Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf said the pull-out was conditional on local police protecting federal buildings, the focal point of unrest.

Oregon Governor Kate Brown said federal agents would start leaving the state's biggest city from Thursday.

Portland has been rocked by 62 consecutive days of demonstrations.

In his statement, the US homeland security secretary set no timeline for a pull-out.

But he said he and the governor had "agreed to a joint plan to end the violent activity in Portland directed at federal properties and law enforcement officers".

"That plan includes a robust presence of Oregon State Police in downtown Portland."

He added that "state and local law enforcement will begin securing properties and streets, especially those surrounding federal properties, that have been under nightly attack".

The governor tweeted on Wednesday: "They have acted as an occupying force & brought violence. Starting tomorrow, all Customs and Border Protection & ICE officers will leave downtown Portland."

But she added that federal officers from the US Marshals Service and Federal Protective Service will stay at the courthouse, where they are usually based.

After the announcement, Mr Trump, a Republican, declared victory, tweeting: "If the Federal Government and its brilliant Law Enforcement (Homeland) didn't go into Portland one week ago, there would be no Portland.

"It would be burned and beaten to the ground. If the Mayor and Governor do not stop the Crime and Violence from the Anarchists and Agitators immediately, the Federal Government will go in and do the job that local law enforcement was supposed to do!"

Sounds very similar to the arguments the Soviets gave for intervening in Budapest and Prague.

might be time for some folks to be more concerned with the possibility o' trump refusing to accept the integrity o' the november election.

Hermain Cain passed away today, after contracting and being unable to recover from coronavirus he caught while at a Trump rally at the end of June. Imagine it must've been an absolutely hellish month. RIP, don't unnecessarily expose yourselves if you don't have to, folks.

(e): Might be more appropriate for the coronavirus thread, but he was a presidential candidate and it's somewhat politically related, so eh.

(e): Oh yeah, and Trump officially suggests suspending 2020 election. I'm reading scenarios as to what would legally supposed to happen if he actually did, and supposedly, because more Republicans are up for election than Democrats (or more open spots where Democratic governors can appoint temporary Democratic senators), the Senate would automatically turn blue and the pro tempore of the Senate would automatically become president of no elected President, Vice President, or House Speaker, which would be Democratic Patrick Leahy. Okay. That actually happening in the event of a Trump coup seems unlikely, but supposedly it's what's supposed to. More likely, this is probably all just an attempt to delegitimize the election, which would be keeping with how he was acting leading up to the previous election.

+3.5 years and people still aren't paying attention. the list o' things trump can't do that he has done or tried to do grows almost daily. started with the muslim ban and most recent we got him trying to alter how census is counted.

if senate refuses to stop trump, he may do just 'bout anything. if trump wants a delay o' election, he can get what he wants by refusing to let fed apparatus take and count votes. sure, there Court will overturn, but there will be a delay as Court does what it does in its own glacial manner, and even then, trump may simple ignore the Court and at such a juncture the only remedy is senate conviction after a house impeachment, and we have been down that road.

lack o' presidential authority is meaningless if senate won't stop him.

HA! Good Fun!

ps trump is current refusing to enforce the recent daca decision. why on earth is this not front page news? the Constitutional crisis stuff people were wailing 'bout during impeachment is happening as we speak. is just another story on page 8.

The Constitution, its amendments, every last Congressionally-passed bill, and every last signed executive order are all worthless pieces of paper with no inherent meaning or value - their perceived value comes from the fact that the majority of us have agreed to at least give the appearance of abiding by our combined rule of law, including what those pieces of paper mean as interpreted by our court system. When those who are supposed to enforce a law do not do so in the face of clear and blatant violations of it, they are admitting that the law de facto does not matter or exist. There is a reason why we are where we are in terms of Trump constantly and consistently breaking many of the laws governing his public office - laws have not been enforced, and consequently, they no longer exist for all practical purposes. As Gromnir and Guard Dog would say, this process didn't start with him, it has been waning and waxing over the centuries since the U.S. sprung into existence (same as any other country - there is a constant struggle for power and control every single place where there is power and control to be had, rarely for attempts at noble purposes, most times not), but it has certainly appeared to be a fast and steep descent under him, one that doesn't look to stop or really even slow anytime soon (possibly not even with him being voted out; it's up to those who have the ability to enforce the law to claw back their share of power, a task which the majority of our Congress is simply not terribly interested in because it makes their jobs easier).

Despite Supreme Court's Ruling On DACA, Trump Administration Rejects New Applicants

DACA recipients and their families were elated when the Supreme Court ruled that the Trump administration didn't go about ending the popular program correctly. Many immigration lawyers thought that meant the program would have to be restarted to allow new applications.

But that hasn't happened. And critics accuse the Trump administration of ignoring the high court's ruling.

"That's insane. That's a violation of the order," said Bill Ong Hing, professor of law and Director of the Immigration and Deportation Defense Clinic at the University of San Francisco.

It's been nearly a month since the Supreme Court's ruling. So technically, Hing says, that order should be in full effect and DACA should be operating exactly the way it was before the administration moved to end it.

"Legally, there's no basis to reject any new applications," Hing said. "I'm very upset and disturbed that this is an example of politics reigning over law."

with +150k Americans dead from covid-19 and the administration's failure to act responsibly to limit the spread o' the virus being increasing apparent to the older voters trump were counting 'pon in november, almost every other news story will pale in comparison. flashbangs in portland and chicago. census flashbangs. demon sperm doctor falshbangs. nothing is genuine gonna distract from the story 'bout which trump is most concerned, 'cause every other american is likewise fixated on covid-19, even if some o' such folks is focused on the hoax angles. even so, this kinda thing, under any other administration, would be page 1. a legit Constitutional crisis is not same old, same old.

also, please note the date o' the story we linked.
