😮 How? Unless, we skip/don't do conversation. A single "conversation cleaning" in a camp would take me over an hour.

I played and finished it with all origins, so some skipping later on in some playthroughs may have occurred. But each play had a romance and of course some origin specific content. I did end up with an ideal order of doing things and knew all maps though, so I got very efficient clearing out the Deep Roads for example. I remember the discussion on the Bioware forum at the time though, that those of us who had done multiple playtroughs all had it down to ~25 hours.

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person on the planet who actually enjoyed Origins.

I also really enjoyed Origins, but i'm fully aware that I wouldn't appreciate it nearly as much if I hadn't played it as a 1st-year college student who hardly needed to study to get good grades. Plumbing the depths of that game is a full-time job, and quite a grind at times.

Also, despite the current state of Bioware I am still looking forward to DA4. I may need help.

I liked all of the Dragon Age games. I'm with you.

After that here's my two cents, I tried to put them from least controversial to most:

- CK2 is an RPG (not that unpopular, but some people at the paradox fora really hate this sentiment)

- There's no non-isometric RPG with better combat and Party AI than Dragon's Dogma. It's also better than most isometrics in that regard, but the styles differ too much for a real comparison.

- ME1 is the best in the series

- Tyranny, aside from being far more innovative, is a better RPG than PoE, though act 3 was clearly rushed. The ending wouldn't be nearly as bad if it wasn't likely to be the only entry in its setting.

- No matter how much I may love them, a brilliant story with some game mechanics tacked onto them don't make for a good, or even decent game. Corollary: Chris avellone is a great writer in  spite of his really, incredibly, incredulously repetitive writing, but a terrible game developer.

In the other corner: D:OS 1 and 2 are brilliant games, but the sheer stupidity of the stories make them unplayable for me. The first would've been good if it hadn't eventually tried to pretend it had more than a comedic excuse  plot.

- I really enjoyed the game, but Owlcat doesn't deserve all of the recognition they get for Pathfinder: Kingmaker; they got an existing setting and story, and more-or-less copypasted the tabletop mechanics into the game mechanics without thinking about the lack of balance, sheer amount of trap choices and any other adaptations needed to fit them for a video game, and called it a day.

In the other corner: Obsidian deserves more recognition for the creation of an entirely new setting, backstory, and mechanics in Pillars and Tyranny, especially since neither conform to standard fantasy settings. I'm sick of run-of-the-mill medieval fantasy

- Star Wars: The Old Republic has some of the best RPG writing in the past 10 years.

- I'm not a fan of fallout: new vegas 😛

Finally, something I realized over the years: The only way to fully appreciate the best RPG's out there is to either be unemployed, or a college student who doesn't care that much about his grades. Otherwise, you'll be hard-pressed to properly finish even one. Shorter = better, not because of better quality, but because you can actually finish the damn things without growing tired of them.

Same here. DA2 was far better than people made it sound, and I still wonder what it could've been if EA hadn't forced Bioware to finish it that quickly.  Inquisition, while it had some clearly fanbase-pandering and overall simplified characters and a horrible open world explore-grind, it also still had a few gems of characters and plenty of lore underneath the general crap. I wouldn't hesitate to say I enjoyed it, but it's the first in the series in which I skipped certain parts. The Descent and Trespasser were definitely steps back in the right direction, especially Trespasser.

DA:O is also the game that made me love discovering ways to horribly break game balance: my second character was a spirit-tree specialist with Blood mage/spirit healer. You eventually reach a point where you can solo the game.

I also kept accidentally blowing my entire party up with virulent walking bomb. Way too fun to lock a group of enemies in place, infect one with virulent walking bomb, then blood-bending it to the middle of the pack.

It took me a long while to get into DA2. I mean, it starts of with you massacring refuguees, and that rubbed me the wrong way.  But once I got over that and realized I'm going to be killing a lot of people, I enjoyed it.

DA2's been roasted for everything from reused assets to playersexual romances, but the problem it really has and the reason I didn't enjoy it is because it lacks a main plot. The story is a series of unrelated events (unless you count the fact that these events happen in the same city and that Shepard Hawk was involved automatically makes them related). The writers even knew that they didn't have a central plot which is why they slapped on a frame in half hearted support of 'Hawk is the common thread' argument. The main thread of a story doesn't need to be 'the world is ending' as it so frequently is with BioWare games, but there does have to be something that ties the beginning of a story with the conclusion so it feels like, well, a conclusion. DA2 doesn't have one and that's the real reason it got so much hate even if players were incapable of communicating that.

Luckily MrBTongue made a video on why DA2 is better than its reputation:

It also has the most hilarious opening ever. "Dragon Age 2 is an interactive cave management simulator made by Bioware."

Screw balance in single player games until it is raw, then kill it dead with fire, lightning, poison and then some more. That was the best part about Kingmaker. Finally being able to create cheese again and no fear that the developer is going to empty your pantry when they feel like it.

If players want balance they can imagine it, make different choices or purposefully gimp their characters like in the olden days of playing single class clerics in Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale.

We still on Dragon Age Origins? Good. So -- Fade is absolutely fantastic. Like, you get to play as a golem, as a floaty creepy thing, as a burning skellie and all they use different approach to stuff, it's fun! I really don't get people who use "Skip the Fade" mod instead of, I dunno, "Skip half of Deep Roads, they're next to identical anyway".

Yeah I will admit that the fade area has definitely grown on me over the years.

For me it was really the other way around. The Fade is an area that's fun the first time you do it and becomes progressively worse with each playthrough.

Although comparatively by far the worst contender in that regard is Icewind Dale 2's Ice Temple. Everything about this sucks when you do it a second time. And it begins to suck arse and then some afterwards. ;)

I use that mod, cose GAME CRASH endlessly at that part. And when I finally get past all the shenanigan of shapeshifting, here come the final fight and it still crash.

So the mod, kinda save me from half of that crashing.

Anyway back to topic , here mine : Fallout 4 finally did everything great!

😛 *run away*

I'm lookin' fer the magic Girdle of Swank Iron, have ye seen it? Do ye know where a portal ta the 2,817th Plane o' the Abyss might be? Do ye know where the Holy Flamin' Frost-Brand Gronk-Slayin' Vorpal Hammer o' Woundin' an' Returnin' an' Shootin'-Lightnin'-Out-Yer-Bum is?

Who are you and why are you the anti-me?

This thread has broken me

Aw didn't mean to. Truth is the reason why I don't like Bethesda games, is I'm in for the story. And their games, don't have much of one.

So yeah, my opinion dont matter much ;)

Since you know, liking something is really subjective anyway. (unless one is a zealot) .

But I liked building the houses back in FO4, and the voiced character (GASP I know...tha horror), and the companions (Sweet sweet Piper) .

It has its fault and it crash..like every damn games they made . But games are supposed to be fun, so y'know...had fun .

YOU TAKE THAT BACK! lol

I did watch a few episodes of Voyager, but some stuff...kinda irked me. But I liked DS9 more.

Add to that, I really clash with the actress when it come to belief..so that kinda ruined the remaining seasons .

Don't think I missed much. Seem like they deal with the Borgs alot right? I find the Borgs so boooring . Yeah yeah, everyone love them. Not my cup of tea.

The founder were more fun 😛

I know someone who unironically says that Voyager is better than The Next Generation. We often quarreled about it (well, wrote ridiculously long forum posts about it that are now gone) and we usually ended at an impasse. The scary part is I can see where he's coming from. I think he's right when he says that Voyager's characters were more colorful and interesting, but I don't think it matters more than the overall quality of the episodes. Interesting episode told with less interesting characters trump Voyager's usually sub-standard (compared to other Trek at the time) episodes with more interesting characters.

The worst part about it though is to see all the squandered potential. Enterprise was even worse in that regard.

I should probably rewatch Voyager right now. It'll appear glorious compared to Discovery and Picard. :p
