I am going to be starting a new playthrough and would like to create a Pale Elf Furyshaper for RP. I will be playing on Veteran.

However I have several build questions and am hoping to get some advice.

1. Are Melee and Ranged both viable? I read that Furyshaper works well with ranged, but I am wondering if it is flat out better with ranged or whether melee is also viable and strong.

2. What classes have good synergy for multiclassing? I was considering Wizard, Cipher, or possibly Ranger or Rogue. Would any of those work well and, if so, which subclasses and why? Am I missing something that might be better or more fun?

(I would like to avoid multiclassing with Paladin, Priest, or Druid as it doesn't fit the character concept.)

Thank you in advance!

  1. I would go ranged as casters that have action speed boosts are hilarious.  Also less chance of someone doing a runby on the totem and causing you to lose PL.
  2. All of the classes you mentioned potentially work quite well.  It comes down to what you're looking to do.

Some ideas:

  • IIRC the two frenzies (barb and totem) stack.  Combine with Wizard for ridiculous cast speeds.  Combine with Blood Wizard to replenish resources that you're burning through.  Stack +heal per second gear.
  • Use dual pistols and sit next to a chanter and try to get your reload speeds as low as possible.  Or use The Red Hand.  Either way you're going to be the closest thing to a machine gun Eora has seen.
  • Get that multi fire crossbow from Forgotten Sanctum, turn on the modal, and interrupt lock targets.  [Haven't tested but theory is sound!]

Yes, they stack. But keep in mind that attack speed bonuses don't stack additively.

Also keep in mind that the strength of the wards isn't their effect on you but that they can put that effect on the whole party (on in case of the fear ward to a lot of enemies).

I personally think that Barb/any caster is fun because of the high cast speed (Attack Speed bonuses are esp. nice for spells with long casting times).

But my favorite would be a Furyshaper/Troubadour - because you can have 3+ parallel AoE "auras" at once and since the casting of the wards takes some time you can as well generate phrase while doing it. And the, when it's "casting time" the high Attack speed is nice for an invocation.
