[4.0/Forgotten Sanctum] Whispers of the Endless Paths bug

Hey all, 

 

Happily playing PoEII, slowly making my way to the Forgotten Sanctum. 

 

Just had the following bug occurring, which I am certain I haven't seen prior to the latest patch: my Whispers of the Endless Paths no longer has any recovery time as soon as I use an ability (i.c. Mule Kick or Flames of Devotion). Once I use either,  my character starts using the same ability over and over, until it has run out. There is no recovery between attacks. I use the ability, my character attacks about 7 times (which is how many power points I have), then stops and resumes a normal attack routine. 

 

I haven't been able to replicate the bug on my NPC's (Edèr,  Ydwin, Xoti), nor have I been able to replicate the bug with other weapons (for instance other greatswords, pollaxes, longswords, etc.). 

 

I had a mod installed for Whispers (the one which increases the sword's regular damage, without changing the AoE-damage). I de-installed it; it made no difference, apart from the sword's damage returning to normal. 

 

I have attached an output log. 

 

I'm curious to learn if this is a game bug, or due to the mod I had installed.

Also have a look at Citzal's Sprit Lance: same behavior. Seems it has something to do with the AoE.

I'm kind of glad to see you mention this. Gives me some hope. I was afraid I'd either have to get rid of my upgraded Whispers, or start over again (in case the mod had bugged out). 

 

Actually, whichever it is, I can't very well use the sword now. If I'm not paying the utmost attention to what's happening, my character simply uses up all his resource points. Hrm.

Bonus question: are you using a custom A.I. set? If yes, could you post a screenshot of it?

It might be that a mod interference causes this. Are you using any mods?

Aye, I am indeed using a mod specifically pertaining to the Whispers of the Endless Paths, namely this one. I uninstalled the mod straight away, but that doesn't change anything. I can't currently tell if the mod has anything to do with it. 

 

I did read the post on Citzal's Lance. The symptoms that poster is describing are a copy of what's happening in my game. I am not able to compare other characters or other powers in my game: I usually delete all my savegames when I start over again. I like clean slates. 

 

Edit: I am using two other mods: one slows down experience gain, the other expands the available character options, such as hair, beards, faces, etc. I haven't tried to disable those. Will give that a try as well. Didn't think they could have anything to do with it though. 

 

Bonus question: are you using a custom A.I. set? If yes, could you post a screenshot of it?

In answer to this question: I am not using a custom A.I. All my toons are set to auto-attack.

I also have the same problem with Whispers of the Endless Paths on my Crusader (Bleak Walker / Devoted).

 

In addition, it seems like all of my attacks have somehow become Flames of Devotion, every single auto attack gets the bonus fire and corrode damage and actually using Flames of Devotion doesn't seem to do any more damage than auto attacks, except the character going crazy machinegun mode and firing off like 8 Flames in 3 seconds.

 

Additionally, using Sworn Rival also applies the Flames of Devotion sickened debuff.

 

I'm using a couple mods, namely Paladin Rebalance, Fighter Rebalance and Weapons Rebalance from Deadfire Tweaks, but I've tried loading my save without those mods and had the same bug.

Another 'interesting' part of this bug: whichever power I use, its accuracy bonus becomes permanent, i.e. after having used Flames of Devotion, I gain a permanent +10 to accuracy. 

 

'Luckily', it seems I am no longer the only one suffering from this bug. I suppose we'll have to await a fix.

I must admit, having the same WotEP buff mod, it put me at ease to see that others have the same problem. Although I'm sorry for you as well. ^^ Cheers!

I confirm the bug.

 

In this case, Obsidian should be start by bugs correction before Nerf all the game, all the time. I hope Microsoft  will give you a better QA testing...

 

In fact, one of the problem is also the legacy of the web. Guide ? Lol = not accurate anymore, everything change since

1.0. I am pretty sure 70 % of players have played to a game that is not the same anymore.

 

Beta testing is generally the location where there is a lot of changes like 1.0-4.0. here it is not normal and you cannot create your party without a risk of  destruction of few elements.

 

Effect ? I left the forum in 2.0 for that.

 

To me, Balance is an extra where to have to be careful. And you know what ? There are again classes not attractive actually. A LOT^^ The problem is unsolved after all... Ironical... A pityfull rule of stacking etc.

 

And Obsidian create new bugs with untimely nerfs.

 

To me, Balancing in this case is an illusion. More : a flattened game.

 

A nerf is only needed when the protocole break enterely the game. Not the game for this sword, even in 1.1.

 

Why I say that here ? Because I play actually the game now. (Stopped at 2.0) and I see already 2 bugs during my playtime. (4.1)

 

So, in fact the version 4.2 (coming soon), is perhaps the true version 1.0 ?

 

Dudes... QA testing... QA testing.

 

I also saw the french version. A shame, trully. 3-4 errors that I reported since 1.1 aren't changed. Force d'âme for reflex descrption in loading page. Soif de sang x2 in the panel of the barbarian (Blood lust, blood thirst), and a phrase of QA testers inside an ability description of Berserker !

 

Amateur work, worst than POE1...

 

Can I play the game without bugs and errors in 4.2 ?

 

Atm, if POE3 need a backer, I will not here this time...

I have no mods and the sword is buggy as hell with soul annihilation. Have 0 recovery, AoE doesn't seem to be happening, lower base damage than a normal GS for some reason.. 

 

I was hoping to have a stable game once all the expansions have landed, but it seems like obsidian just doesn't want to give me that.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I'm not using any mods and I'm having this exact same problem on my Arcane Knight.

 

No longer does AOE when I use flames of devotion (but auto attack does AOE damage just fine), and if I don't cancel action after flames of devotion is used, my character will continue to use it with no recovery time until all paladin resources are spent. I know you guys are working hard but please fix this. It is super annoying. Thanks in advance.
