Means I have to wait that much longer for it to go on sale.

I'm the enemy, 'cause I like to think, I like to read. I'm into freedom of speech, and freedom of choice. I'm the kinda guy that likes to sit in a greasy spoon and wonder, "Gee, should I have the T-bone steak or the jumbo rack of barbecue ribs with the side-order of gravy fries?" I want high cholesterol! I wanna eat bacon, and butter, and buckets of cheese, okay?! I wanna smoke a Cuban cigar the size of Cincinnati in the non-smoking section! I wanna run naked through the street, with green Jell-O all over my body, reading Playboy magazine. Why? Because I suddenly may feel the need to, okay, pal? I've SEEN the future. I do that religiously, do recall one instance of someone linking PornHub instead of an article   What's wrong with clicking Polygon links, though ?

You mean besides them very clearly pushing an agenda to the point that they not only cherry pick but also include information that is factually inaccurate?

Well, if it's an "anti gamer" agenda, that's fine by me :p  But not up to date on the gamer jihads, so not sure which one you're referring to.   Though in this case, not sure that would matter given they're just reporting on 'news'.  Overwatch sure has a strange community.

I have to say, while in the past, I was mostly divided between playing the PC and PS4, since getting the switch last year in May, I've probably put the most time into that console.  And this is just more good news.  Yeah, I understand these are ports of old games, but man oh man, do I love playing all these games wherever, whenever I want.  I've recently picked up Guacamelee (1st one) on switch and have just been having a ball.  I previously beat it a couple years ago, but there's something about playing it handheld.  Add to that all the other indies, like Dead Cells, Hollow Knight, Stardew Valley, Axiom Verge, Celeste, Mark of the Ninja, Darkest Dungeon, (I realize these are all on other platforms) etc, etc, plus titles like Diablo 3, Skyrim, or Zelda on the go, it's been a good time and a great purchase.

I still enjoy the PC and PS4 for sure, however due to daily life and seeking fun, I've definitely gravitated towards the switch.

Oooh yes, I didn't play DD on PC for a particularly long time, but I can definitely see myself putting a bunch of time into it on Switch.

And I totally agree, by the way: I only own it for over a month or so, but the way it works is just totally transformative to the way I play games. PC gaming was the worst in the sense that sitting down to a computer also means "Work" to me, so I'd need to find at least 30 minutes to at least start playing something since the machine has to boot, a game has to load and before any of that happens, I tend to check my mail, take a peek at forums etc.

Traditional console's better, but still not ideal, mainly because it takes up a TV and roots me to a single room.

Switch just feels like so much more than mere sum of its parts - sure, the performance is underwhelming (still damn impressive for a handheld tho), but you want to really focus on that boss and play it on a big screen? Put the machine in a dock, it'll switch screens and resolution in a second. Me and my wife are stuck in a waiting lounge for half an hour? Let's play Rayman/Snipperclips/Whatever co-op, there's always two controllers attached to the machine. And then it's also just a damn good handheld console.

I still didn't play the flagship games for the console like Zelda or Mario as they seem crazy expensive to me right now, but I'll get them eventually. And I gotta say the damn thing ruined aiming with my Xbox pad for me - the way it utilizes motion controls for fine-tuning aim is a work of genius and any controller with a gyroscope should do that from now on. And all without a gyroscope should get one just to do that.

Is it wrong to be excited for Dragon's Dogma on the SWITCH...despite already having it on PS3, PS4 and PC?

...asking for a friend... :shifty:

I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man

I'm also using my Switch way more than any other console since the GameCube (and that not only feels like but was half my lifetime ago).

Yeah, you can... kinda wait. I've got both and haven't finished either so far. They're good games, sometimes even amazing, but there's something lacking. In case of Breath of the Wild that's easier to put a finger on, it's not Zelda enough for a Zelda game.

If that doesn't make sense, watch Joseph Anderson's excellent analysis, he pretty much nailed it:

As far as Odyssey goes it's just not nearly as fun as Super Mario Galaxy and its successor were, even if the seamless transition between 3D gameplay and 2D retro gaming is pretty impressive and Mario controls really well.

Yes, but it's not as bad as Skyrim...yet...
Soon.... soon. It is Capcom, after all who are just as shady/bad as Bethesda.

For right now though, Double D is safe.

I am very happy with what Nintendo is doing to the Switch. People always complained about the lack of 3rd party games on Nintendo consoles, well, here ya go...in handheld!

I have to buy a Switch sooner or later, Mario Odyssey looks amazing.

There used to be a signature here, a really cool one...and now it's gone.

Same.

Wii and WiiU were pretty bad for the industry at any rate and just when I thought Nintendo couldn't get any worse, they TOTALLY redeemed themselves!

Switch is impressive all the way around, whether hardware or games selection.

Don't worry, usually when something's universally praised I find it mediocre at best with some notable exceptions (TW3, Into the Breach) so I definitely won't be getting those till their price drops quite low.

If that doesn't make sense, watch Joseph Anderson's excellent analysis, he pretty much nailed it:

Completely unrelated of course and I'm not going to watch the video through as:

a) It's called 'Not enough Zelda' and I didn't play a Zelda game in my life, so I couldn't care less about that angle

b) It's nearly 2 hours long

c) I've already made up my mind on not wanting the game that much

But for the heck of it I started it and skipped to like 0:42:00 where he describes how you can break puzzles by applying simple solutions that the game doesn't prevent you from applying. Author then goes on about how this is due to Nintendo's lack of foresight, yet my reactions was pretty much "Ooooh, cool, so the objects in game react consistently to same actions, that's the base building block for quality emergent gameplay right there!", so this brief exposure was enough to nudge the game a bit further up my "want" list. ... It's still not particularly high.

what does it mean eat a crow?

Do you know what it is? It's a 47-year-old virgin sitting around in his beige pajamas, drinking a banana-broccoli shake, singing "I'm an Oscar Meyer Wiene"
