Lots of positive steam reviews in the last week

Recommended Posts

In the last week, 226 new steam reviews have appeared, and 222 of them positive :dancing:. This huge number of reviews makes that this week is the third with more reviews. In preview weeks, only 20 reviews appeared per week.

Is interesting to see the reviews graph on steam. Perhaps there are many people who were waiting for a discount on the price. Let's see if sales are increasing in the future months.

Game's also leapt into the bestselling list on gog. Maybe peeps waiting for that 'black friday' thing? Also word might have got around that last dlc is around the corner and games's been patched a fair bit.

It's nice RPGs often have that 'long tail' thing where theyll eventually earn u money and acclaim. Must be a ballache for devs and publishers trying to make bank tho.

Do changed ratings count as new reviews? I imagine some people who dropped the game due to bugs or whatever months ago could now be coming back to it and liking it more

I don't know how changed ratings appear in the graph. I don't think they are new reviews.

In PoE1 there are new reviews praising the game and people say on them they are eager to start PoE2.

In last 5 days, steam reviews for PoE2 are 241 positive and 7 negative (97% positive) ;)

When I wrote my PoE2 review, I recommended to play PoE1 first. That's the logical way to enjoy those games.

Ive no basis for this, but dyou think release of pathfinder might have helped? It might have whetted folks appetite for similar things.

Also, as someone who's kinda playing both games side by side, poe is several degrees more balanced and polished. Like to the point where it was a legit shock coming from km to poe.

So i can imagine someone delving into km - enjoying it but wishing it werent quite so ornery - then going 'oh whats this pillars thing, i kinda slept on it the first time.'

This is caused by the Steam Sale event: The voting.

As it requires you to leave a review on something you voted on for the lvl 4 badge, and nobody (well, near nobody) would vote things they hate then leave hate-reviews.

This "positive review influx" happens to most (2018) games at the moment.

Hm... If that "someone" have never played isometric DnD-like games before and began with PK, I would expect that person to run away screaming and swearing to never touch this kind of the games again, rather than searching for "something like that but more polished". People are inclined to generalize and extend one random experience over everything remotely similar.

However, I am the one who learned to appreciate everything about PoE2 that much more after the PK experience. If I did have anything negative to say about PoE2 before, PK made if disappear completely, I do not even remember what it was. So, I would totally expect some players to re-write their reviews after PK, but would not search for the newcomers because of it.

The reviews have allways been high for Deadfire. It is currently and allways has been since release the top rated RPG on metacritic for 2018. Tied with Monster Hunter World.

For some reason that is not translating across into sales.

well for one thing the sales threads were all speculative and second like this happens all the time idk why gamers think lots of sales means the game is good and all good games sell

velvet underground and nico sold poorly but like brian eno said everyone who bought it started a band
