Game crashes immediately upon launching the .Exe

Question

Hello,

I recently bought PoE2 - Deadfire and upon launching the .Exe, either through steam or directly, The game fails to even start and the following error is displayed on the desktop: Oops! The game crashed. The crash report folder......It would be great if you'd send it to the developer of the game!" I uninstalled, re-installed, restarted my PC, returned the game on steam and bought on GOG, made sure my drivers are up to date, and a myriad of other attempts at fixing the issue but so far, 0 luck.

here is the bug report and my dxdiag.

Thanks! any help would be greatly appreciated

Hello Romaje,

I'm sorry you have been experiencing this from the very beginning.  I'm going to create a bug report for this and send it to the Programming team to investigate on your behalf.  While they are looking into this there are a couple of things that we might need or suggest be done to make sure everything is up to snuff.

If the game is crashing and providing that error message, that means an entire folder with crash files should be generated and that has even more data that would be very helpful to the programmers.  If needed, you can find instructions on how to find that folder here.  The folder should be labeled with the date and time of the crash and have the ouput_log.txt, crash.dmp, and error.log inside.  If the forum doesn't allow you to attach the files, feel free to send them to me at support@obsidian.net along with your forum user name and a link to this thread as a reference.

Other things to help us would be to make sure your video driver for your Radeon RX 580 is updated with the latest driver and that your Windows 10 operating system is also up to date.  Though these steps sound too simple to be true, they do tend to help many users with compatibility issues.

Thank you for trying these out, and sorry for the inconvenience this has casued.

Hi, I have all DLCs and after 100 hours and close to endgame, my PC crashed during my last session. On restart, I'm having the same error as the OP. Was this issue ever resolved? Should I create a new thread with my logs? Please note I appended "txt" to the crash.dmp and error.log files in order to enable upload here. Thanks!

Update: following Sabiticus' comment below, I updated Citrix, now POE2 runs again. All good now.

output_log.txt

crash.dmp.txt

error.log.txt

Same issue, game never run, crashes immediately on start.  Graphics card drivers recently updated to latest version, no effect on behavior.  Would love to attach the crash files, but your forum does not allow it.  I am not "permitted", which means you need to implement a real support solution beyond a forum.  Will email the files to you.  This game is becoming a hassle.

UPDATE: nevermind, Pillars has an issue with Citrix.  It runs after reinstalling Citrix Workspace.
