RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS - CON SEASON

Okay I'm watching. I have mixed feelings, I'm not impressed so far by the gameas a whole but it is pretty. The character models are meh looking, graphically, it's a bit dark. I wanna see some open world gameplay and driving, something bright to show me that ugliness is not being hidden by dark canvas/shading.

Dialouge/Voice acting seems to be great, music seems good as well.

As I originally suspected, this seems to be a mix of multiple games: Deus Ex, Doom (2016), Doom III, System Shock. Omikron: Nomad Soul and others. It looks like it will be good, I'm still waiting to be blown away by "next gen" somethings or interesting mechanics.

Edit: Smart gun from Aliens... Nice. That's pretty neat.

I am digging all the customization in the game.

Edit 2: I also like the Blood Dragon mapping vision. That's pretty neat as well.

I'd like to see mini-games and open world + driving. Doubt they'll show those things though. At least not right now probably.

Just what do you think you're doing?! You dare to come between me and my prey? Is it a habit of yours to scurry about, getting in the way and causing bother?

What are you still bothering me for? I'm a Knight. I'm not interested in your childish games. I need my rest.

Begone! Lest I draw my nail...

Man, it cut off on the driving lmao One of the people who played it said it went into third person mode and that the city was huge. That's what I wanted to see, I could care less about mission structure and shooting mechanics.

I think I will buy it, reminds me mostly of Deus Ex but more casual and with more abilities/customization. I dig it!

If my character can't ride a bike straight out of Akira or Bubblegum Crisis then no buy.

But these same philosophers have rarely noted that the citizen in question simultaneously loses another right, one just as basic and perhaps even more vital for his conception of himself as a civilized human being: the right not to kill.”

When it is naked, yet puts on armor and calls it faith, while in the Eyes of God it has no faith at all. I don't know if it was just the stream or a purposeful film grain effect put in the game because of the eye implant or something, but I could definitely do without all the visual noise.  Hopefully it's not in the final product or an option I can turn off.  With that little complaint out of the way, I was definitely impressed.  That was badass.

Also, I'm totally cool with 1st person view for Cyberpunk 2077, in fact I'm all for it.

I look forward to playing this in 2020 or 2021.

That's actually exactly what I was thinking. Seeing outlines on characters is unneeded in a boss fight. I hope you can turn the outlines off somehow. I don't mind chromatic abberation and all the other effects though.

Will we have to wait til 2020 or beyond? Since pre-orders are already up I thought it would be November 2019 at the latest. They may even give us a release date at VGA or next year's E3.

^ Thanks, I missed the first half of the stream.  I can definitely still see visual noise in the better quality video, it seems to happen mostly when the character is moving rapidly.  Maybe it's the replacement for motion blur and is there for the immershun, but, like with motion blur, I'll definitely be turning that effect off if I can.

Future paramedics don't screw around.   UI doesn't seem all that bad, the health bars over the people being shot seems unnecessary to me

Wonder how long it is before some one asks Gibson what he thinks :p

Have to say that when the demo was behind closed doors at E3 (and even at Gamescom) I thought a 2019 release was hopelessly optimistic. Now a Holiday 2019 is conceivable in my mind (or at the very least, that gets announced at first, before it gets pushed back into Q1 or Q2 of 2020).

I still feel it's Q1 2020, especially with a heavy hitter like RDR2 coming out this fall.

CDPR is launching a new IP they need some breathing room to make a splash. I believe they want this to be another trilogy of games.

Now that I think of it, the part at the end with the "corpo" has shades of that one scene from Layer Cake.

Shooting looks so rigid, like Deus EX HR. Not really into it so far. Seems just like a retread of the genre. Narrative is also all in your face, trying too hard, but that's more a personal gripe. The interactive aspect with environment is by far the best thing going for it.

Speaking of rigid, the characters in this next video are practically statues...  :shifty:

No no, no need to get up, I'll show myself out.

Shooting looks a lot better than any Deus Ex to me. I guess I can see it being rigid, but that just reminds me of Source engine games with their low levels of recoil which for me makes for better gameplay. I don't want a real person's arms simulated in front of my mouse, I want my mouse to pass straight through to the game-loop. It also seems like it's pushing the genre more than anything. If not it will hold down the fort for a new generation seeing as Square is letting Deus Ex hibernate.

That one character "Stout" had some really dry and forced VA. Which contrasted weirdly against some of the more grounded performances. But open-world voiced game get's VA right all the time. I agree about the interactive environment being the best thing. I'm excited to navigate this world with different kits.

Speaking of source engine, I did get some sense of VMB flavor in Cyberpunk 2077 which isn't a bad thing. I still don't see the game being revolutionary or next-gen by any means but then again, that (almost) one hour of gameplay was just one quest.

If the game has a chance at blowing me away it will be when they reveal the open world exploration, interaction. As far as the dev saying "This is only one way to complete the quest and every different way vastly affecting the storyline" well, this is basically what every dev says about their game in an rpg gameplay video. I am interested in the game, I want to play it but would be more interested if they'd release gameplay to back up the claim and here's to hoping that CDPR will break that cycle where a dev says one thing and it isn't really as it appears.

Beautiful but ruined by the developer telling what I can do instead of actually showing it. It's a nice tour of the open world but since the developer is short on time and only has an hour we don't exactly get a clear look at how things work in the world of Cyberpunk (other than shooting later in the demo).

On the bright side, this looks like the type of game I always wanted from Bethseda but they were too superficial to give us.

It's better but still pretty rigid, though can't really expect much more for an apparent big game. Can't say I'm a big fan of Source shooting either. The characters and voice overs have a Starbreeze meets Mass Effect feel, which is another plus. Interaction as a whole is well done.

Is it bad that I like rigid gunplay vs smooth and polished? :(

The gunplay looks good to me though, I am just curious about the limitations of the world. Hmmm... No loading screens, prepare for cache loading halts (occasional frame drops as scene loads - did you see them in the demo?).
