Creation beyond our world, other dimensions, gods and their secrets, animancy insight and other metaphysical aspects of Deadfire would be a nice focus for a playthrough. What classes, backgrounds, races, skills and stats influence unique dialogue and book options to explore this part of the fiction?

Philosopher/Mystic backgrounds probably.

As for actual classes? Well... nothing? Wizards have some metaphysial/acrane theory iirc, but no class has anything dimensionalism or god's secrets stuff. We can't even be animancers.

Not even priests of Berath or Magran? I would have assumed they would get some extra insight into the true motives and nature of the pantheon or atleast their own deity?

Nope, definitely Philosopher and Mystic. Priest of Magran gets the most unique dialogue in general though (even though you'd think it would be priests of Eothas)

I found both Philosopher and Mystic dialogue to be disappointing though. It seemed very.. generic, oddly

Cipher has lots of unique dialogue options due to their mindreading, but in general those specific areas of expertise are covered using skills like insight, history, metaphysics, arcana, religion etc.

My recommendation: get beraths blessings (+2 all class skills), rest at neketaka brothel (200gp, +1 to all skills till rest), be entertained by lady in dunnage inn (+1 to all skills main char till rest), get skill training by trainers (+1 to all skills main char) and develop the "interesting" skills at level up. Also, many items add skill boni, too.

Mystic, scholar etc don't seem to have a big effect. They do come up but don't unlock new information by themselves (mostly flavor). But they do add a bonus to important skills of course.
