I only have experience with the Evoker so far, currently playing one (single class), but I certainly like it. I wouldn't mind them given them a second unique ability of some kind to each to give some more flavour to the different specialisations, but they're fair I think. I certainly wouldn't want them to remove the exclusions, that would rather defeat the point of them being specialised wizards after all.

I imagine it also depends on how you play though. I'm playing with a full party, and in this case I have Aloth at hand as a Spellblade for a bit of Chillfoggin' and such while my main is running around setting everything on fire, that probably helps. I can imagine soloing it would be a real handicap though (but that certainly wouldn't be a reason to change them).

Nothing really changed. Evokers are good for blasting, illusionists are okay-ish if they don't plan to rely on weapons, and the other three shoot themselves in the foot with their lost schools.

Way too harsh.

One of the sidekicks is a Conjurer and you get like, 1-2 Conjuration spells a level, and the familiar stinks. And no Evocation!

They aren't worth it.

Evoker benefits the most from the extra power level. Offensive spells PL will scale damage, bounces/projectiles, accuracy, penetration, and duration (if applicable). Evocation has offensive spells at every level, some of the most used spells for a Wizard. The Evoker special bonus gives a chance for extra damage. Many other spells just get a little extra duration (or accuracy if a debuff), which doesn't mean much. And the special bonuses are much weaker in other subclasses.

I feel like Evoker is decently balanced compared to generalist. I don't really like losing two schools though, it takes away so many good spells. I wish they'd choose some other penalty, other classes don't lose 2/5 of their ability tree from picking a subclass.

Yes, it is worth now, especially Illusionist with the - now even nerfed to + 1 PL! .. and I think I am crazy - mask.

Able to cast Wizard's Double from level 1, Confused from level 2, Terror from level 3, Confused again from level 4 as the only Illusion spell there, Terror again from level 5, btw can save points on +1 PEN with element passives right?, Gaze of the Adragan - this stuff last forever: Cast time 3 Recover 3 Duration 6 -   on level 6 as again the only Illusion spell here, tough choice on level 7 as there is no single Illusion spell so lets take Improved Criticals, level 8 is badass with Wall of Many Colors and Freezing Rake .. oh now we need the PEN .. oh but we have only 2 casts hmm, and in the endgame tier level 9 there is no Illusion spell again so let's take Prestige +1 PL to compensate for the nerfed mask, that is serious **** innit?

I have some secret items for this build I cant tell about but I solo PotD DD, only one eye open using 2 fingers on left hand, with Illusionist because it's so OP.

Honestly just go Trickster if you want to be an illusionist. It's a vanilla Rogue with -10% Sneak Attack (not a big deal) for an excellent collection of Illusion (and Transmutation?) at EVERY Power Level. Mix with a Cipher for crazy high deflection and CC.

Actually, I was playing Trickster/Illusionist, not kidding now, with the mask. God of Terror who got rekt because did not use Chillfog. ****ing Chillfog.

Haha what? Why both tho, Trickster is all the Illusionist you need :p

And illusionist power level boost doesn’t apply to trickster spells anyway. Trickster conjuror could be fun for access to illusion spells in spite of the conjuror penalty. And there are some decent damage spells for conjurors that benefit from power level.

What do you mean "And" and "anyway"?

Why would it not apply? The description clearly states: +1 All Illusions Power Levels. Of course, it applies. Just +1 is pure garbage as it adds 1 sec to Ryngrim's Repulsive Visage for Trickster at level 20 and 0.5 sec to the Gaze of the Adragan. 1 sec I scratch my ass and in 0.5 sec cant even reach to scratch my balls. Wtf is this, Dark Souls reflexes skill or something? The spiritual successor to Dark Souls, **** me.

And why both? Well, obviously to add to replay value from Whitewitch Mask. How can you even ask is beyond me. Anyway, Trickster/Illusionist can cast Chillfog, Pull of Eora and Freezing Pillars, as well as Evocations, so that is all that matters. The strongest class, without armor, without anything, say hello 2 Chillfogs, 2 Pulls, 2 Feezing Pillars say goodbye, do this **** over and over and over till you face boss than cast ****ing scrolls. gg and gd, good game and good design. At least, I could build around the mask. That was an epic experience.

The patch changed it to +2 pl (up from +1) for your school and -10% (down from -20%) recovery for other schools, as well as changes to a number of specific spells (mostly related to cast times) and the transmutation specialist ability (still benefit from gear aside from armor/weapons while transformed). The fundamental problem that different specializations have different benefits (how much they get out of increased power level and the special ability) and costs (which schools are lost) that aren't balanced remains unchanged.

I've had quite a bit of fun with Evoker on potd. And I didn't go for nature godlike for max pl. The lack of good varied gear is annoying, but that's not relevant just for wizard/evoker so eh.

I would like for the bonuses to be more, for example I think the Evoker should have a damage bonus instead of the 15% chance at double cast. The idea being it would differentiate the subclasses more, give them more personality. But eh, it is what it is I suppose.

At later levels, with buffs, an evoker (probably the same can be said about a general wizard) can nuke pretty much everything. Took me a while to realise the "causes an interrupt" on vaporous grimoire refers to yourself lol, so that was annoying especially in silly situations where your party is scrambled outside of your control and your squishy wizard is suddenly the main agro of mobs :p

Anyway for me spellcasting characters are the ones I'm having most fun with, and being able to nuke bosses with spells was awesome :D
