Companion Sidequests and Reputation Gains?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Bit of an odd question. I suppose I'm curious as to whether or not finishing up a companion's sidequest effectively locks you out of seeing any of the additional "Hey, Watcher!" conversation options with that companion? Like, if I finished Xoti's personal quest, could I still trigger the romance with her later by just... getting enough reputation gains, I guess?

Also, which companions have specific interactions with each other that you can sort of... eavesdrop on and offer your input? I know Xoti and Pallegina HATE each other - is there a way to help them through that? Then Serafen and Xoti have their moment where he helps with her nightmares, and Eder and Xoti have their potential romance (I received one dialogue relating to that, but told Eder to be up front with her about how he felt regarding the gods and then nothing happened afterwards). Are there any others? Eder seems to absolutely despise a pro-Leaden Key Aloth, for instance. Granted, Eder seemed pretty fed up with Aloth through most of the first game, too.

Tekehu confronts Maia at one point and later you have a conversation where they hug it out;

Pallegina has enough of Tekehu, with consequent making peace conversation;

Aloth has problems with Tekehu, but -- being Aloth -- does not confront him directly and complains to you instead;

Maia and Xoti can be into each other and both asks you for advice;

I hear there is Maia vs Pallegina confrontation but I never triggered that one;

as for Xoti vs Pallegina, you can tell either of them to be more understanding, not sure if there is a follow-up;

Maia and Serafen do not have any special interactions, but seem to genuinely like each other.

Cannot really answer that first part of your question. Theoretically you should, romances and personal quests are separate lines, but people complain romances are wonky, so... :shrugz:

Haha, that first one.

I never saw it but I've heard there's sort of an apology /follow up conversation.

And with Xoti, I didn't get her final romance trigger until after her quest, but it was also right after I got more rep gain from her, so there's a chance that's just incidental.

Xoti’s romance was bizzare to me. One minute she’s crushing on Eder, the next she’s confessing her feelings for me and off of what I thought was a pretty neutral response, we were suddenly a couple.

I found it so off putting I never even pick her up anymore. If I want a healer before nekataka I just hire a henchman.

I think the Xoti and Eder vs Xoti and Watcher thing are treated separately. Which gives you some funny continuity blips.

She had already had the confession talk, where she sounds like she's gotten over Eder, but because I didn't have her and Eder in the same party enough, she reacted to an anti-god comment Eder made at Ukaizo and started talking to me about her insecurities about their relationship lol. And right before that, at Ondra's Mortar, and in the epilogue, they're very platonic buddies (as if I had let them work things out). Probably because I talked to Eder to be more empathetic/patient with her.
