  1. Our Oak Tree Base. Will be opening up the game to visitors soon. Gamertag: Stonedprophet
  2. Hi all. I have not been very active on this forum for a long while, but I have played all games Obsidian made (old and new) and I loved PoE and PoE2. But now that will change and it makes me a little sad to actually do so, but I simply can't support Obsidian in their current behaviour. - I want to say I understand the logic behind their "free cash to go exclusive on 3rd party shop" but for consumers this is a problem! I will never go to a site like Epic, it is not just anti consumer it has poor security, steal information from users (they even admitted this and tried to hide it as a mistake), they also have a awful barebone shop with a launcher that many people have problem using! People have been writing about how it does not work and that support is non existing (we are not talking days, weeks, but months and still no reply) Epic also wants a market where 3rd party games are exclusive to them.. Well guess what.. I am a fan of your games, I bought all your games!!! even crowdfunded... But this.... I will not be forced into buying games on such a place, then I will simply skip the game. What you are doing now will have consequences in the future, also when Epic is not just splashing cash out anymore. Look at how publishers like Ubisoft is still having a bad reputation after the piracy talk years back.. they have tried almost everything to showcase customers as "good" people now instead of pirates, but all remember. We will also remember this action from you Obsidian. You supported exclusiveness to a unsecure site where people have no benefit.. As I said.. If you released on different places I would not have this problem (even if steam was not included) but forcing people to use a site that is well known for (let me list it again) - Security problems - Data mining without concent - No support - Broken launcher - Barebone shop - Anti consumer That is a problem for me and should be for anyone else, fan or not.. I have defended you many times, defended your games that i have liked, but this.. this I can't support no matter the reason. Is a pile of cash in advance really more important than your fans and pro consumer actions? One thing is certain. I will not buy the outer world, not even once it hit other storefronts/platforms like GoG, Steam, etc. I don't support anti consumer and exclusiveness ala console style.. Even if you make new and good games that are not exclusive. This will most likely have impact on future sales/games as well from fans that think like me and no.. we are not a minority.. I don't support piracy and have always bought my games, but your move here will increase that as well.. Because those that unlike me just buys an alternative, will go fetch it the other way instead of risking their sensetive information on using Epic. Goodbye for now Obsidian. I hope you choose another path in the future, but for now "in my game" you picked a choice that lead to your death.. Lets see what happens when you load up the save.
  3. As I walk in Pearlwood Bluff, my party see a little cute drake! Engaging him only provokes a million of Xaurip that comes to his aid, not only attacking me but also keep healing the drake himself! (healing on hands to be more specific! who said paladins are useless?) This was the taughest battle for me and I actually died twice before I decided to change tactic. 1) Aloth, you don't need fire spells. swap in the debuffs and lightning strike! 2) Eder, you hate using sword and shield I know, but for this one not only you will but also eat +con food! 3) Kana .... get your tanking gear on and eat some +might food :D As the battle start I know those pesky Xaurip paladins will heal the drake, so I go for them first, trying to line enemy up for lightning strike. It works but my tanky Eder takes a lot of damage and I do need to spam some +armor +healing buffs (thank you crazy Durance). As only 2 Xaurip + a drake left, I get lucky with Aloth debuff that reduce the drake intelligence resolve and will resistance, allowing me to spam even stronger debuffs, that actually PARALYZE the drake himself. I managed to kill the Xaurip paladin and then finishing off the drake, letting the last little Xaurip left to run for his life but he seems really devoted to the dragon (maybe because hes the priest), so I unite him with his worship idol in the afterlife. WIN. Not a single down/death, level 5 party! Thank you Obsidian for an epic game
  4. Let's make a comprehensive list of everything in the game so far that has been Backer Made. Obviously, this will be filled in over time, but for now, I think we can get started with a few of the Backer Portraits and the Celestial Sapling. The rules are simple. We post images and/or name of people, places, and things such as: LARS WESTERGREN UNKNOWN CELESTIAL SAPLING ---- UNKNOWN UNKNOWN And then we fill it in as needed.
  5. I recently binge-watched a show in which the protagonists discover that what seemed to be a single mysterious enemy organization was actually two diametrically opposed factions. When trapped by one faction, they were able to draw in the other one and escape in the ensuing chaos. It's an idea that's not actually uncommon in non-interactive media, and RTS games will also sometimes have 3+ sided battles, but I think it could work for RPGs as well. There was a thread recently about keeping the enemies in the first Pillars of Eternity game low-level. This approach is probably the most sensible for the majority of combat situations, where the party encounters an enemy or group of enemies, has a hopefully challenging fight, but ultimately proves stronger and defeats the foe. In order to save some power progression for sequels, you have to limit the power level of the player party, which in turn means limiting the power of the enemies. But what if, occasionally, you encountered enemies that you weren't ever expected to beat outright? These could be powerful beings or monsters such as dragons, or antagonistic adventuring parties at a significantly higher level and with better equipment, or small armies of powerful soldiers, or some combination of all three. If there is only one such group in an area, the objective could be to hold out against them just long enough to accomplish some task before escaping (or before being captured and having to escape later). If there are multiple groups from different factions that hate each other, an option could be to lure on group to blunder into a rival group, setting up a big messy scrum where everybody's attacking everybody. This way, you can still have a game story that includes powerful, dangerous enemies while still ensuring that the player party don't have to become gods right from the start. Additionally, the same types of enemies could show up as beatable foes in sequels, demonstrating how the party has progressed.
  6. This a discussion on these topics, I AM NOT holding a debate for or against it, I actually don't care how you feel about it. I managed to find an article about should children be in the game and people were saying they should be immortal, that BS IMO if you want realism. I have played BG2 and have never killed a child, thought never even entered into my mind as an option. So my thoughts on the matter, if it bothers you don't do it, simple as that. I am new here so forgive me if it already covered and common knowledge on these topics, if it is I ask you to point me to the article/s so I can read up further on the subject/s. I did find a post about children, whether they should be in game or not, and the debate that followed if they should be killable or not. Personally I don't care about that, I am interested in marriage, romance and fathering (mothering? Doesn't seem right to fright with child) offspring. I find this intriguing and am interested if the option will ever be present, on launch, DLC or hopefully a mod (don't know if the game will be mod-able, let me know if it is please :D). In BG2 there was Aerie, whom you could romance even have a kid with (how awesome is/was that!). Sample dialogue from Aerie: “I…I will show you my body (char name)…and I hope it pleases you. Would you…would you stay with me this night (char name)? Will you show me what true love consists of?” “I’m such a silly woman. Whining and crying…I must seem so ridiculous and petty. No man will ever want me I think…I feel so embarrassed.” So I hope to have the option of doing the same in this game, it was one of the coolest experience I have had in a game, in fact I feel as though I still love her. How do you feel, want an epic game of epic proportions?
  7. Hi I'm Zoltan Gonda, the author of the NWN1 module series, Tortured Hearts (I & II). Me and my friend DrHoo have been working hard on a stand-alone RPG which is loosely based on these mods and now we need some material help to get the graphic and sound content done. This is why we chose Kickstarter. The title is: Tortured Hearts: Or, How I Saved the Universe. Again. Storywise, the game is DONE. Here are the features: -TH satirizes RPG cliches -Light-hearted story of a jaded, thrill-seeking adventurer -No need to play the prequels beforehand, but ofc there are refs for those who have played them -6 playable races: human, elf, dwarf, gnome, halfling, half-orc -Classic 6 person party (you can open their inventories for instance) -Non-linear gameplay, open-ended world with 3 choke points -Over 200 areas -Over 500 NPCs -Over 100 quests -About 100-150 hours of gameplay (just like the "prequels") -A long and complicated plot -A crafting system if you like to spend your play time working -Almost 500,000 words of dialog (including henchman conversations) already written, plus a journal to keep track of quests. -A variety of henchmen who contribute in an interactive way with the PC -A henchman relationship system which can lead to romance -A character development system, first used in Newcomer
