  1. I would love it, if there would be jumping spiders roaming the backyard. They could be friendly and tameable, but instead of taking the usual approach of feeding them, it would be fun if you could befriend them using the emotes (dancing etc). Maybe mimick what they are doing 4 times or something like that.
  2. My Concepts/Ideas This is my list of various concepts and ideas that I have recently thought of, hopefully inspiring anyone reading to also come up with new concepts or even variations of these ones, which I would very much like to see. Hopefully seeing in the future one or some of these insects being considered by the Obsidian Team, though I do believe some insects that I will be adding onto the list are already in the Obsidian Teams list of bugs to implement. Overtime I will add additional concepts onto my list, each one with an image to go along with it. But for now I hope you enjoy what is currently here and perhaps use it to inspire yourself with new ideas for Grounded. (Also I realise that not all of the images are very accurate to being within the game, but they are just concepts and drawn by hand so I apologise for any errors I made in my pictures. (especially the ones with webs in them) The Devil's Coach Horse Beetle Names: Devil's Coach-Horse Beetle (Longer name) Rove Beetle (Shorter name) Night Terror (Nickname for Boss like 'Mother Demon') Type: Boss Tier: Level 4 and Above Attitude: Aggressive Location: Inside of Giant Log Underneath Stone Slab Within a Compost Heap Spawn Condition: Night Time Only boss spawn, would require boss item to initiate boss fight. Far away from staring area, all bosses should be located away from new or low-tier players. If not then very well hidden or unlocked after completing certain chips or in-game story events. Locations: Inside of Giant Log, the giant log could act as a spawn location for the new boss the 'Night Terror' it would be a largely expansive hollow log filled with resources and mainly various insects that prefer moist environments like larvae, grubs and even various spiders. It could also be home to some new insects yet to be made and various materials like moss and mushrooms. During the Night though, this area will act as the boss arena for the Night Terror aka the Devil's Coach-Horse. Underneath Stone Slab, the stone slab could be one of many slabs located on the stone wall side of the garden, having one particular slab contain a burrow which will lead to a expansive air pocket underneath the slab which would act as the Night Terror's den, being full of stone, quartz, various grub like insects and perhaps some new materials too. Within a Compost Heap, this compost heap could be a new location found in one of the corners of the garden, being full of high tier resources and insects purposefully placed far from new and low tier players to prevent them from encountering the tougher insects too soon. The Night Terror boss would be located at the deepest part of the compost. The compost would be full of all kinds of insects, many resources, mainly being rotting organic matter. The Boss Room of the Night Terror would be very large and upon entering its purpose is instantly recognised due to the graveyard of insect pieces. Although the boss itself will require a specific item to summon or lure out of hibernation. Abilities: The Devil's Coach-Horse itself is filled to the brim with weapons, other than being a complete beast and resembling the appearance of a black soldier ant who drank every smoothie in the game. It is also widely viewed as one of the most savage insects commonly found in most global gardens. Being about 20-32mm in size (real-life) and the adverage wolf spider being 10-35mm (real-life), helps provide the kind of size and strength this thing can handle. Its main diet revolves mainly around a range of invertebrates, including worms, slugs, moths, spiders and woodlice (rollypollys). During its attack you can also tell from its scorpion like posture that it is enraged, but I think the red glowing eyes is a bit of a give away. This insect was built to fight. First of all, its armour is pratically impenetrable. This could make for quite an interesting AI, forcing the player to either knock over the insect by perfect blocking one of its charged attacks to give the player a limited amount of time to inflict some damage before it flips back up the right way. Or any kind of punctering or stabbing weapon could also deal damage through its armour causing players to prepare for this boss fight ahead of time. Another way would be just an excuse to make this insect have an insane amount of health. It also has two massive pincer-like mandibles which considering can cause pain to normal sized human beings may cause quite a high amount of damage to someone the size they are in Grounded, but of course blocking will help prevent these powerful bites. I would also recommend wearing full tier 3 or above armour that has also been upgraded by quite a moderate amount, that way you can be sure that you wont die in the first 3 hits. The insect itself is also a close relative to bombardier and that similarity can be seen through the pair of white glands located at the end of its abdomen, these glands produce a foul-smelling odour or to someone about 14mm in size would be like breathing toxic gas. They are also equipped with a pair of wings, though very rarely used could allow the Night Terror to get to players too far away from it (though this should not occur if placed within a boss arena) or could play as a second stage to the boss fight itself. They are also incredibly fast and can catch up to the adverage player similar to how a wolf spider can, but they cannot jump and instead must use their surroundings to find another way up, this could be used in the boss arena itself making paths for players to run away temporarily as the Night Terror runs up the longer pathways to get to where you are going, but without allowing the players to cheese the insect in battle. Drops and Items: Its drops would be basic in nature, closely resembling a mixture of bombardier and ant parts. Night Terror Part Night Terror Mandibles Night Terror Glands The parts could be used in an assortment of different ways. Night Terror Armour - Could Include 'Night Terror Visor', allowing wearing to have slight night-vision on equip, this is due to the Night Terror's nocturnal characteristics and its night-vision-like sight. The rest of the pieces are optional but full sets are always better in my opinion and could be based souley around night time exploration or purely defensive, especially against toxins. New Weapon and Shield - Could include a Night Terror Sword (one-handed) and a Night Terror Shield, the shield being able to negate 50% of incoming damage and the sword being both one handed, fast and very damaging mixed with a new effect called Terror Toxin which acts like a more potent poison effect. Night Terror Glands could be used for various objects or even structures such as: New building piece for warding away faciton-reactivity attacks and allow players to protect their most important bases, of course wearing out after about 1-3 uses and also costing very expensive materials, this prevents attacks due to the foul odour it produces which most insects even spiders are disgusted of. A new grenade type weapon used to cause massive toxic gas, filled with Terror Toxin which deals increasing damage to all organic insects. (except weevils and infected insects) Could even be used a new type of upgrade which can be added to high tier weaponary adding the Terror Toxin effect to the weapon similar to that of the Night Terror Sword. This would require a fully upgraded weapon before hand. (which would most likely be required to defeat the Night Terror anyway) Additional Information: I'm aware that the Devil's Coach-Horse Beetle and Rove Beetle are not the same insect but in context of the game they would be very similar which is why I have listed them together as this one boss, personally it should be based mainly one the Devil's Coach-Horse Beetle as they are larger and more vicious in nature. But they are similar enough to be tweaked slightly and be almost the same in most other attributes except some minor appearance differences.
  3. The game's fun and pretty expansive but it's lacking some quality of life changes that could make a huge difference. For starters being able to customize your save a bit more would be fantastic, more config settings and being able to adjust an existing save would be great. The new siege mechanic is fun, but again more config settings that we can adjust ourselves to change how reactive some of the factions are would make a huge difference. One thing that has bothered me about the game is that all insects have different weaknesses, which in theory is cool and all but it does crowd your inventory with all the different weapons, having some kind of weapons satchel separate from your inventory with a hot swap key to switch between melee or ranged weapons quickly would be nice. I'd also love to see some intelligence from the insects, if each faction all had a purpose and a goal each day for surviving instead of mindless wandering or food gathering the game would have an entirely different feel, also a leader for some factions would be interesting such as a Queen Bee. More air defenses and being able to reinforce walls is kind of a necessity too with sieges in the game now especially since they're pretty spontaneous and sometimes they happen when you're away from your base. As for insect's there's already a pretty good variety but there's a few essential one's that have been left out. I've seen a lot of insect suggestions but I think the most basic of all would be the best addition, the worm, lots of different variations and they'd definitely have a unique attack pattern, also burrowing would be an interesting new addition as flying insects are currently dominating the game right now. Next i'd say a centipede would be a solid addition, we need an interesting large insect and I think the centipede is about as big as they can go without being silly, there's lots of different variations of centipedes so there's lots of possibilities there. My next choice is the scorpion, another large insect I think could really impact the game in a good way if implemented correctly. Butterfly is another great choice, it'd be great if we could use their wings to glide because mobility is really lacking right now. Hornet, Slug, Mantis are my last three.
  4. i know large ground mounts wont be that usable because there's no roads and that a lot of people want things to ride so they're mainly going to be smaller mounts or air/water mounts 1. Gerridae also known as water skimmers : could be used/tamed on the pond area and used like jet skis to get across the pond quickly with the ability to jump and glide out of the water considering some species can fly and some can't so its an equal balance of both and not so overpowered by being able to fully fly as well, there could also be an area near the pond where there's oil on the surface what they could skim across which is slower to swim through and harder to get air if u go beneath with a dark underwater area underneath that leads to a new late game area with better resources and maybe a boss fight like cave dwellers such as tailless whip scorpions. They could be tamed by feeding them certain insect parts that you have obtained with the harder items to obtain being the ones that fill up its taming bar the quickest like ant eggs or spider parts and the more easier insect parts taking longer like having to use 50 gnats or mites instead of like 10/15 spider parts on the other hand they could also be killed and farmed for resources 2. fruit flies : these could be used as a more early game way of transportation being worn like a backpack and just having the ability to rise up into the air and glide back down kind of like a jetpack and just make the fly look like its tired out from carrying you as a reasoning to why it cant just constantly fly around like a regular fly they're also considerably small flies so the scaling to the player shouldn't be bad. They could either be found ; near the bushes (rotting berries), near the garbage heap ( rotting food/ fruit), or in a location with a grow bed with vegetables like tomato plants on the decaying fallen fruit. 3. dragonflies : they could be spotted near the pond are and could be a more aggressive tame where you have to bola its wings or knock it out to be able to tame with the ability to break out of bolas so it could be a more tanky/ boss like insect where it could be fought and killed to be obtained to make dragonfly armour that has wings so you can glide without a mount when you have the full set and the goggles could be used to give you better accuracy when above an enemy. they could also have a fuel system where you have to keep putting insect parts on a rope that's dangling in front of it that's attached to the saddle to keep it in flight 4. tadpoles/frogs : i know they're already in the game but they could be used as a quicker way to get around under the water kind of like a little underwater propeller. They could also develop into different stages of a tadpoles lifecycle developing different things such as ; developing back legs after being fed a certain amount and having the ability to swim a bit faster, developing both sets of legs so it can go on land for a small period of time before having to go back in the water and fully developing into a frog that gives it the ability to fully go on land and jump from place to place like a 10/15 meter jump or cm in game with a tongue that does a small amount of damage and can pull items/ insects closer with the ability to go fully underwater as well. with a small amount of health compared to the other creatures 5. praying mantis : this could be an insect that is located inside the house in a terrarium that's kept as a pet that can be fought as a boss and obtain items like its front legs that could be used to craft a scythe that could be used to chop resources faster or a katana that does good cutting damage and strikes fast with armour that looks kind of like a samurai with a praying mantis Hannya mask to fit the praying mantis' origins that does increased striking speed when paired with the katana and full set of armour. The mantis could also be used as a good tame to gather resources like grass and weeds with and clear out areas of grass more efficiently with decent damage against other mobs like spiders with its front arms and the ability to pick up and bite/carry other smaller insects like ants. 6. Pholcidae also known as daddy long legs: this could tame that could be worn like a backpack like the fruit fly but instead its arms attach to the walls of main structures like the house walls the oak trees trunk, the branches inside the bush area, the bench etc. kind of like doctor octopus from spiderman but it tires out after a small amount of time with the ability to upgrade its stamina so you can climb bigger surfaces this would give you the ability to get up to the areas like the upper floor of the house so you can enter through a window and the canopy of the oak tree. it would be found either crawling around the garden on its own or on a hive somewhere. 7. jumping spider : these are necessarily small spiders so they could be used as a tame that you wear on your wrist or back more like a grappling hook that you can swing with than an actual rideable creature they could also be fed string to actually be able to use considering most actual spiders eat there own webs to make them again anyway. they could be found hopping around in the garden mainly higher up on the grass or walls tho 8. bullet ant : these could be an aggressive tame that does large amounts of damage to players and other insects that can be tamed after killing the queen located in an artificial ant farm inside the house. There could also be other variants of them like fire ants that do less damage but leave a burn affect and live in a more hostile area or normal ants that just do a standard amount of damage with the ability to carry materials. all of them being mainly PvE mounts to attack other insects 9. remote control helicopter / car : these could be found inside the house and used to get around on the inside quicker without the ability to bring them outside because of the size and inside would have a lot more flat areas for them to be able to work correctly there could even be a small sub or scuba toy that u can use in the drains of the baths, sinks and toilets to move around quicker and discover other areas or secret areas 10. this one isn't a build just a suggestion for an insect : this could be a mutant/ hybrid insect found in a lab inside a room of the house where all of the other insects and areas are kept inside all of there terrariums used by the scientist who shrunk everyone. this could have the abilities of other insects so it can jump like a frog, chop and grab with its arms like a mantis, sting with its tail like a scorpion or just with a stinger like a bee and a bite attack like a spider this could be a very very end game boss that comes just before completion
  5. Hi, im DuHashTag, and i really like the game. Its super fun to play, singlepalyer and multiplayer! But... I think it was great to have mountable insects. thanks.
  6. For more insect variety, I suggest the addition of Caterpillars as a passive insect, Cocoons (similar to web sacks), and Butterflies. This gives the player an additional ground AND flying insect as well as an additional resource to find and crack open.
