  1. This was already discussed on the forum, but I don't think that I've seen a poll specifically on this subject. So, would you like to see orchestral score as a stretch goal?
  2. The questions of this poll were already disscused a bit elsewhere on the forum, but I'd like to raise them more specifically. So, what do you prefer: more choices and consequences that visibly affect things, or just more quests and bigger world, with maybe not so many real choices and visible consequences? And what is your opinion on adding stretch goals specifically dedicated to improving these aspects?
  3. Level scaling. For me it's a curse of cRPGs. I prefer it when the monsters have a set level and venturing into a wild area means a death. I also love the feeling of an all powerful being that can kill a mere guard with a single strike. What are your thoughts?
  4. live chat at pc gamer: http://www.pcgamer.c...dian-live-chat/ Direct reference to "Om"? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Om The most spiritual race? Thoughts?
  5. I couldn't find a topic addressing the question whether people want to have player-generatable companions, so I'm starting a new one. Personally, I can't think of a reason how having mindless drones as companions can be justified by having control over thir stats/race/class.
  6. I've read a lot about etnic conflicts within the game which I think sound interesting, but it's also something that almost every RPG contains. Something we see a lot more seldom is conficts between classes. Not classes as in rangers vs. wizards, but as in serfs vs. their nobles and workes vs. manufacutry owners. Pesant-revolts against taxes, serfdom and the nobilitys privileges, skilled and unskilled workes revolting i the cities, conflicts within the manufacturies that should start to pop up now historically and so on. I think it would be very interesting if these things were explored. If you look at the historical period that this game is supposed so be similar as (late Middle ages), these conflicts were very common. Merchants not directly tied to land were starting to grow as a powerful class and were starting to demand political rights and question the nobilitys privileges, taxations increased which led to armed revolts on the country side, more and more people lost their land and a class of landless, travelling day-labourers started to appear, revolting artisans in the cities, political ideologies were taking root, and so on. I think there's a lot of potential in this.
  7. WITH THE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT THAT WE KNOW NEXT TO NOTHING ABOUT THE GAME AS OF THE TIME OF THIS POSTING, it appears that our gameworld is a serious, dare I say dramatic one. The snippets of dialogue we have read so far have been suitably portentous. Some might say the game seems "dark" at this point. What I propose to you is this: Horror elements. I have been starved (starved!) for a good horror RPG for some time. Our Top Dog Programmer Tim Cain made a little game called Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines back in Troika day, as you'll recall now that I've mentioned it. That was the last RPG that I remember to feature serious horror elements (for the purposes of this post, I am not counting any of FONV's vault stuff, or Brayko's jacket). I miss it! I was so pumped for Aliens, you guys, it was gonna be 100% straight-up grade A horror, plus it's my favorite movie! But then they sent it upstate to live with a nice family. SO, horror. Not all the time, you know, but I gotta have it. What sorts of horror, you ask? How about THINGS THAT YOU SHOULD THINK about: - Lovecraft, always. Mad, unknowable things. Small towns with terrible secrets. Hybrid monsters, terrible pacts. Barely keeping away the incomprehensible and unspeakable. - Cool vampires. Still good, even today. Consider putting a different spin on them, something possibly more brvtal. Seen Near Dark? Curses, gushing blood, impossibly good looking dudes. - Cults. Normal-seeming people. What do they do behind closed doors? Blood rituals, probably. More hybrid monsters, sticks that are actually snakes, crazy-looking daggers, creepy children. - Impostors. Body snatchers, changelings. The thing from The Thing. Crazy magic robot people. "That is not my husband". Severed heads with spider legs. - Hauntings / haintings. Very quiet people staring blankly at you from down long corridors. Stories about the attic. Portraits that move when you're not looking. Creaks and groans. THINGS YOU PROBABLY SHOULDN'T THINK about: - Normal vampires. Who needs em? Difficult to pull off as short-term antagonists. All about predatory sexuality but really just come off as generic monsters. - Cannibals. There are no twists left. We see them coming. - Serial Killers. Mark this as "maybe". The tanner from BG2 didn't work very well, neither did whatever the hell Dragon Age 2 was. But they still retain that compulsive creepy vibe. You just gotta build the mystique right. - Werewolves. Make them unstoppable like in Bloodlines, we'll talk. - Zombies. Rename "cannon fodder". CONSIDER IT.
  8. One of the stretch goals of Planetary Annihilation was putting money towards the music of the game. The music style of Project Eternity may not need to be strictly orchestral or classical music (some medieval / neoclassical / neo-folk stuff would be nice for various different areas / environments), but I think this is a great idea for a stretch goal. That's not to say that it need be exactly like that, but money towards the music/soundscapes/voiceovers/recording quality etc This is also not a post about the composer, as it seems likely that Justin Bell will get his shot for Project Eternity (which might be a good thing, as it was the earliest works of other composers for video game soundtracks that are usually their best).
  9. Will we finally be able to cast 'a spell that teleports an opponent?s scrotum into his stomach to get digested'? Or, more importantly, will I finally be able to teleport an opponent's scrotum into someone else's stomach? If it actually made it into Planescape Torment, I somehow missed it... As a wider discussion, does anyone want to see any weird and wonderful spells/items in Eternity? If so, what sort of thing? I'm personally up form ever bit of humor they can get into the game, in whatever insane for it takes.
  10. Can anybody tell me if Eternity is going to come with some form of toolbox for modding?
