  1. Made it to level 11 and real meh. I feel like I wasted time and energy...what a shame.

Lol a shame? Quit bitching. I’ve played the game to level 11 basically a hundred times, it’s quick and frankly that part of the game is really fun. There’s nothing wrong with the class you chose, but if you want another one just start over. It will go even faster now that you know what you’re doing.

  2. Running a single class troubadour right now and he’s the star of my party. We are about able to take down stuff way tougher than our current level (8) due to his strength and flexibility. Right now the ogres are absolute beasts, they have tons of health and hit HARD. With brisk recitation I get phrases so fast I can keep the ogres up 100% of the time.

Looking forward to throwing out the occasional empowered eld nary later though!

  3. Charge

    Board

    Kill everyone.

I guarantee that to be more fun, and less time consuming that jibing around for 20 minutes waiting for your cannons to reload.

I’ve done both and I have to disagree. Mainly because I can’t win boarding fights until I’ve beefed up the team quite a bit, whereas I’m leve 6 right now and I’m

The scourge of the freaking Deadfire with my ship.

Archaven- if you dig a bit there is a great thread of ship combat where Gromnir and others lay out exactly how to do it. Ive been having a blast every since, pun intended thank you very much.

Short answer - get double bronzers ASAP, close to within range of cannons (under 350), turn, then HOLD POSITION ONE TURN, blast, jive, hold, blast, rinse repeat until they are dead. Easy and fun

  4. Chanters are probably my favorite class. I’m curious which summons people love, which are your favorites, most OP, etc. conventional wisdom is using skellies early and switching to Ogres and maybe the enchanted weapons later. Anyone like the wisps? Or spores? Like running a single class chanter so you can get the giant dragon as fast as you can?

Hit me with those chanter strats!!

  5. On a side note (but regarding the RP aspect of playing a priest). The gods are fabricated. And the Watcher is well aware about it. Has conversations w. them on a regular basis, corpotate CEO stand-up meeting style.

Where come the Watcher-priest spells from? Could one really preserve his belief in a deity as a higher power under such circumstences?

Could strong belief in a mundane person or organisation grant spells?

Corporate CEO standup meeting rofl. That is perfect.

  6. Dump resolve. Con to 8 or 10. Max PER and INT. Rest in dex. Might at 10 or so is fine. Stats don’t make that big a difference.

Folks have different philosophies with armor. I like everyone in mail or heavier. Enemy AI likes to gang up on squishies. You cast a little slower but it’s worth it.

  7. 1) change main character (priest of berath , then fighter/wizard) - new character runs in with fear AOE, plus I max intimidate and role play as a big hulking badass named Leary that scares everyone in and out of combat

    2) ally with diff faction (first pirates, then Deadfire company)

    3) use different companions (this is huge! The main ones have tons of reactivity in the game. You should experience the game with each companion at least once, more than once if you want to take your relationship down different paths)

    4) different romance

    5) ships! Ignored the ship game first go around. This time? I’m the most feared, bloodthirsty dhow in the Deadfire. Ships name is the Punisher

Having a blast through my second full playthrough ! Already planning my third, which is why I spend so much damned time on these forums :)

Re: sidekicks, I love them, but miss the rich interactivity of the main companions. Vatnir, however, is my BFF.

  8. Would like to run a priest main character for next run! Actually ran a Priest of Berath for my first run through the deadfire on hard at release and had a great time, but I’m looking to optimize this go around. So please pass along suggestions!

Just to be clear I’m looking to hopefully run a priest who can be the top dps and nuker for the time. Will likely even bring Xoti to handle the Devotions buffing and teammate saving. I want this guy to be the bringer of the apocalypse.

Some general questions...single class priest the way to go? Which god - magran for fire priest (ring of Fire accuracy, dropping shining beacons and pillars of fire)? Berath again? New woedica? Does it matter?

Go single class for higher power level and top spells? If not, multi class with what? Could see the helwalker caster formula with enduring dance helping the spell damage.

    Thanks for the ideas!

  9. Xoti is fine as single class monk.

    Tekehu is fine as druid.

    Pallegina is fine as herald.

    Eder as... another herald?

    Serefen as... a third herald?

    Maia as.... a fourth herald?

RP-wise this doesn't entirely fit, but it's an effective party. The thematic idea is... lots of chanting.

BTW what do you use to change the classes?

Point is, if you're lazy, and you said you are, I recommend heralds. Stat distribution can be anything on heralds as long as int is high for longer duration summons.

    Don’t feed the trolls

  10. It's also highly benefical if you use rod+Blast or mortars etc. to apply Arterial/Gouging/Toxic/whatever Strike in an AoE.

Also Pernicious Cloud (PEN got fixed and it's good now).

This actually sounds crazy fun. Wanted a single class Rogue build for my boy Eder (though I’ll need to boost his int). Which Rod would be best for this build?

Haven’t had time to test but does Wayershaper focus cause toxic strike to bounce?
