  1. Personally, I like for them to explore the Victorian setting similar to Arcanum but minus the non-subtle magic. What I would like is an atmosphere comparable to Sherlock Holmes setting intertwined with Cthulhu mythos. You gather investigators to unravel mysteries of the occult that leads to go against the unexplainable and the unbelievable. And you are equipped only with utilising the era's firearms, clues and information, traditional gypsie charms, and whatever relics and runes uncovered from the mystery.

Basically, Elder Signs the true RPG.

  2. Sure. Making an RPG game with proper depth like Pillars of Eternity is far more time consuming, more expensive than a simplified "borehammer" gameplay meant for mobile games that could be made within a year. The cost isn't justifiable and you're pretty much better off making original IPs instead.

  3. Many game companies would love to have their hands on the 40K license. In previous interviews with Obsidian, Obsidian did express strong interest in making games for 40K.

The main hurdle is licensing cost, publisher's interest and what sort of RPG should be made out of it. A Mass Effect like RPG? Unlikely as it will carry a budget cost of AAA titles. Wastleland 2 quality? Maybe. But again it depends on the licensing cost, which should not be cheap considering Games Workshop is very protective of their property.

Just hope Obsidian's PE will be a success, and one day Games Workshop might be willing to work together with Obsidian to make such game without a need for publisher.

  4.

Any implementation of cooking food during rest? Taking the approach from Dragon's Crown, cooking and allocating food to the respective party members would give them temporary bonus depending on the type of food given. Some party members may prefer one kind of food over the other.

In what way is this even remotely "fun?"

Its not the exact cooking mini-game as Dragon's Crown. Minus all the button smashing. Just an optional food allocation system that could grant bonus.

Its more of the concept of food distribution during rest at camp similar to Expeditions: Conquistador, or eating food in Fallout New Vegas, which you receive temporary bonus (Or penalties) for a duration of time in the game depending on what kind of food was allocated to the party member.

I'm not referring to cooking mama style.

  5. I always felt anime itself is simply a different medium to tell a story. Just like television shows are ranging from Saturday morning kid's show to midnight CSI series for example.

It all depends on the market audience the anime strives to cater to. Animes like Ghost in the Shell, Tokyo Godfathers, Jin Roh and even Studio Ghibli's recent movie The Wind Rises are catered to the adults.

Attack on Titans is catered towards teenagers, but that doesn't stop an adult like me to enjoy the show with its intriguing setting, cliffhanger style arcs of the plot and the intense action it delivers. But its a show that is not without flaws such as

Eren is pretty 2 dimensional as a main protagonist, pacing issues and the show forcing the themes into the viewers mind instead of doing "Show and don't tell" type of delivery

    .

However, the redeeming side of the show would be

watching the characters mature in outlook and philosophy in dealing with deaths like Jean and Armin over the course of the series, and finally another anime that features strong and capable female protagonists

    .

I personally prefer the story going through the direction of

Eren remaining dead without devolving the series into an ultraman inspired show and pursue Band of Brothers style of direction to introduce characters and Game of Throne's style of political intrigue

    .

Anyway, I still enjoy the show despite the flaws. The story got better in the manga though as the author got better in his storytelling style.

  6. On the side note, there's a DS game for it coming out. I have strong reservations about it though.

    Personal gripes:

    • I wish the game takes place on the perspective of original recruits than the characters from the anime.
    • Web slinging gameplay looks kind of lazy compared to the indie game (Grappling hooks being shot at the sky instead of the buildings)
    • Graphical quality and animation isn't that good for a published game.
    • Why no Vita version? :/

    However.

    • Some high-speed action moves looks awesome and intense.
    • Game could be equally brutal. From what it was shown, it seemed to be a one-hit kill gameplay.
    • Playable Coop.
  7. The game is made with a super deformed style in mind, hence the "cuteness" in the character design.

Yes, the titans are supposed to be naked. Here is the example from the source material:

    aot-sketch.jpg

Perhaps its due to the low graphical and polygon quality that makes the titans look very odd indeed.

  8. The game is:

    • Very Hard even on normal difficulty
    • Has steep learning curve
    • Unique approach to combat
    • Satisfying kills
    • Fun coop mode

On the development side its being:

    • continuously patched and improved over the past six months
    • addition of new maps
    • New characters to play
    • Better enemy AIs
    • Additional difficulty modes
    • Better graphics
    • More balanced controls

All is done by an indie developer. Its quite an achievement. And the biggest plus?

The game is free to play as long as you have internet connection.

What's wrong with the game itself?

Personally, I hope further improvements can be made by making the buildings and trees destructible by the titans. The game will get more intense with fewer covers available as time goes on in the gameplay.
