  1. Four of your example games came out recently, so it seemed like you were being facetious. That being said, we aren't lacking in games that fit your criteria.
  2. I don't know why we need a crash. There are a ton of good games being developed outside of the AAA studios. We are basically in the golden age of gaming right now. Any type of game you could possibly want is probably in development by some indie studio, and they have the tools to make it look and play great. The big concern would be the big fish buying up the small indie fish and ruining that. So far Microsoft has been buying up plenty of fish, but I'm not sure that it has ruined the diversity...yet.
  3. I should re-watch Being John Malkovich at some point as well.
  4. Sicario was fantastic and relied heavily on visuals, but it also had Benicio Del Toro, who doesn't need to say much to be great in a role. I'm very happy to watch a movie with little dialogue and strong visuals. I'd say the theater is a good place for that. With that said, Tarantino also relies on strong visuals, but he backs it up with strong dialogue and music. Guillermo Del Toro is kind of the original show don't tell director, and I doubt he'd side with Villeneuve on this. But whatever, I'm still going to enjoy watching the pretty movie on the desert planet. People overthink their popcorn flicks.
  5. I was curious if it would be any good. I just finished watching the Percy Jackson show with my kids, and that turned out great. It was better than the movies by a mile, and even improved a few aspects of the book (which I was very lukewarm on.) But they've shown no interest in watching the Avatar live action show, despite enjoying the animated series. They do love Hazbin Hotel, and I don't get that one at all.
  6. I've been playing these legacy missions in Xcom 2, and they are pretty solid. It's basically a 7-mission mini-campaign and it tells Bradford's story after the aliens take over. It's a great way to scratch that tactical combat itch without committing to a full campaign.
  7. I lost a game of Old World. I was playing Carthage and the Romans kept zerg rushing me. They lost too, but it was sad. I don't fully understand the economy in this game. Now I'm playing Xcom Enemy Within so I can feel like a winner gain.
  8. I hope they make more Shadowrun. Seattle has so much more to offer as a setting.
  9. I'd buy it other than Cate Blanchett. Maybe she lost a bet?
  10. We ain't getting any younger, so I'm happy to hear older folks still get their freak on. Good on her. We are a lot closer to her age than the young starlets, Gfted1.
  11. It prevents bots, since you are a new poster. It goes away after you get a few approved. You are free to hurt people's feelings, but no one here made the game.
  12. Nah bro, the environmental disasters will catch up to us first, you don't have to worry about WW3. Also I've learned to never quote Hoonding again. I found a picture of Gromnir from back in his Moscow days:
  13. No, not really. The idea that Reagan is the same as Bush is the same as Clinton is the same as W Bush is the same as Obama is the same as Trump is the same as Biden is not going hold up under scrutiny. And again, the criticism of all of these guys is non-stop. The western media eats theie own. What does the Russia media do?
  14. I don't think we should confuse the concern over a lack of opposition to Putin with support for said opposition. The problem is opposition is not allowed to exist in Russia. That is major component of tyranny. I doubt many in the west would prefer Navalny or the Wagner group chief guy. Alternatively, I'd guess a fair amount of people are depressed by the Presidential candidates this year. But at least there is a choice, and there is an open debate, and there is open criticism, and there is an end date to their terms.
  15. I was going to say! Kennedy wasn't assassinated by the CIA, despite what Oliver Stone would have you believe. But you are also going back 60 years to pull an example. Trump is the new Teflon Don. He can convince a bunch of yahoos to storm the Capitol Building and is still going to end up on the ballot in every state. He might even end up President. I'm not sure what that is an example of, but it certainly isn't comparable to Putin's Russia.
  16. As chaotic and crazy as western politics get, it's still preferable to a system where political opponents are imprisoned and murdered.
  17. Yeah, I mentioned it undercut his credibility, which is a shame. Comedians are storytellers, not journalists. That being said, the Daily Show has always required a mix of both.
  18. Whoa, John Stewart is back on the Daily Show. I liked Trevor Noah, but nobody nails the exhausted antipathy of the American people quite like Stewart.
  19. Yeah I think I played one of the recent NBA 2K games, and had a similar experience. It's a shame because I really enjoyed a few from the previous decade. At least I still have MLB The Show. We really need a decent hockey game on the PC. I've started playing Saint's Row, the new one. They really flubbed the marketing on this game. I was a big fan of SR2-4, but this one didn't appeal to me in the trailers. Imagine my surprise to find it is a very good game. I do miss my British accent option though.
  20. Picked up Enshrouded, another one of these new survival games that just hit early access. So far it seems pretty decent. Exploring the early parts of the world is enjoyable and it is a good looking game. It was only $30, so I'll probably stick with it.
  21. For me, the choice is less about the crook or the dotard, and more about who they surround themselves with. Biden's team is fairly quiet, while Trump's team is brash, and they all leave after 9 months to get rich writing a memoir.
  22. I joined up around a year late as well. I didn't start really hanging around until after I finished KotOR 2 though. I came here trying to figure out what the heck happened to the ending of that game, and I ended up staying forever. I think the NHL thread was what drew me in. I miss that one.
  23. I'm a big fan of Wolverine. I named my child Logan, after all. But yeah, he played very similar to Spider-Man in terms of chain attacks, and we already had Blade to fill the brooding anti-hero role. This game just occupies such a strange spot in the Firaxis lineup. I don't finish a lot of games, but I do finish every Firaxis one, so it was weird that it took me so long to commit to playing this one. Once I did, I enjoyed it quite a bit, but I'm left hoping they leave this Marvel silliness behind and go back to Xcom. edit: Correction - I never played Haunted Hollow by Firaxis
