Grieving Mother has the ability to become "unseen" by other people. Not really invisible - but nobody except the Watcher really pays much attention to her and she's forgotten easily.

Are you sure that's who it's referring to though?  She isn't forgotten, she just used her cipher powers to go unnoticed.  I was thinking it was something in WM2 at the temple of Ondra where you take Maneha.  For some reason I was thinking there was someone there that was forgotten to the world.

  2. In the Forgotten Sanctum, while talking with Fyonlecg, after he asks if I know who he is, I have an option which is flagged as a result of a choice I made in the first game to say "I knew someone once who'd been forgotten by the world." I imported my save from the previous game, but I don't know who that's referring to. This is driving me crazy.  I couldn't sleep last night because I couldn't stop thinking about it.  It does feel familiar, but I just can't quite remember. Does anyone know who that is referring to?

  3. Just an update for anyone that cares.  I went to Dunnage, and after dealing with Furrante it seems to have sorted out the Principi quest line.  I outed Furrante for dealing with slavers, so they hung him.  Aeldys took over and gave me the quest to capture the Floating Hangman, however her other quest, A Shrewd Proposition, is still broken, still telling me to meet her in Fort Deadlight.  I even made the candied nuts she asked for in her letter.

The VTC quest, Of Like Minds, updated after Furrante was killed, but it's bugged too.  It now tells me to Investigate Crookspur island.  I've already killed the slavers and freed the slaves, but I went up there and double checked everywhere and can't find anything to make that quest advance.  If I can't complete that quest, I don't think I will be able to even side with the VTC if I want to.

  4. I ended up going about other business because I didn't think I'd be siding with the Principi anyway.  The RDC gave me a quest to wipe out the slavers at Crookspur.  When I got there, there was a woman on the beach who thought Aeldys sent me.  After talking to her, one of the quests, A Shrewd Proposition, updated telling me Aeldys wants me to disrupt the slave operation.  I wiped out the slavers and freed the slaved, and the quest updated telling me to return to Aeldys.  I went back to Fort Deadlight, but I have no dialog options with her other than to say Farewell.

After the Huana Queen asks me to start a war with the trading companies by blowing up the RDC powder house in order to gain their help, and the RDC wants me to assassinate the Queen to gain their help, I don't want anything to do with them.  I don't know what the VTC wants from me because that quest will not update, it's still telling me to go meet Furrante.  Now I'm actually leaning toward siding with the Principi because capturing a haunted ship sounds way more interesting than dealing with the politics between the Huana and trading companies.  The way things are bugged though, I don't know if I will be able to complete their quests to get that far.

I didn't have problem in my last playthrough with 5.0.

I just ran into this bug with the latest version (5.0.0.0040).  I returned to Neketaka after doing a few quests, one of which was clearing Crookspur.  I went to The Brass Citadel first, which started the Final Maneuver quest.  I don't intend to ally with the RDC, and I can't tell them no.  When I speak to Hazanui Karū, I can only agree to join them or say not right now.

I then went up to Serpent's Crown, and Nungata and Una are both missing (and I really need some pyrite).  I thought maybe it was too late and they were gone for the night.  I know Una is only at her stand during the day, but I don't remember Nungata ever not being there.  I waited until the next day, but they were still gone.

Why do they disappear with this quest active anyway (or at all)?  I'm guessing if I ally with the RDC, then the Huana turn hostile, or the RDC asks me to do something that turns them hostile and these two NPCs are hidden to prevent them from dying.  Obsidian has never made quest giving NPCs un-killable before, why do it now, and why do it just because the quest is active? I didn't even agree to ally with them, the quest is just telling me to speak with Hazanui Karū.

I doubt this game will ever get any more patches, and this bug is annoying.  I'm going to have to load an earlier save, which looks like I'll have to re-do about an hour or two to get back to where I am, and then I will just have to not turn in the Clearing Crookspur quest until I'm finished with the bounties.

this sounds like what happens when you finish all the pre-act iv faction quests and they're waiting for you to do the critical path, not your first aeldys meeting.

i don't have any good advice for you because it looks like things are so tangled up it might be hard to fix with a few console commands.

The last part of the main quest I did was meeting Eothas at Magran's Teeth.  When I returned to the palace after that, Aeldys did barge in.  I guess you're expected to go see her before that.  The dialog I have with her now seems to be me having to decide whether to side her or Furrante.

  7. I did a search, but I didn't find any topics about this.  I have quests from the Valian and Principi that are overlapping that involve Captain Aeldys and Captain Furrante.  Maybe I did things in an order that wasn't planned for, but Aeldys seems to be bugged.

I killed Benweth earlier in the game, then I don't remember the exact order of what I did next.  I know Furrante wanted me to meet him in Dunnage after dealing with Benweth, but I didn't do that immediately afterward.  A little while later I got a missive from Aeldys to come see her, but I was busy with other things at the moment to go do that.  I eventually got around to Dunnage to meet Furrante where he asks me to got to Crookspur.  I told him I wasn't going to help him, but he marks the location on my map in case I change my mind.  When leaving Dunnage I get another letter from Aeldys asking me to meet her before I do anything for Furrante, but again, I was busy with other quests and didn't want to go out of my way to see her yet.

After finishing up other quests, Director Castrol asks me to go to Dunnage and see Furrante.  I decided to go see Aeldys before heading to Dunnage for Castrol, but her dialog didn't make any sense.  It's like she thinks I'm here for another quest which I don't even have yet, talking about her plan to capture the Floating Hangman and tells me to come back later because she has a few more things to do.  I remember some conversation about it when I was in Dunnage the first time and I had a scripted encounter with it later, but that's it.

I decide to load a save before going to Fort Deadlight and instead go to Dunnage to see Furrante.  That dialog was a little weird too.  When I arrive, I told him I was there for the Castrol, and it just gives me the same dialog we already had when he gives me the quest to go to Crookspur island.  The quest for Castrol doesn't update though.  It then goes into some dialog with the council sentencing Aeldys to death, and then he asks me to go take care of her and get information from her about how she plans to capture the Floating Hangman.

When I leave Dunnage, I get the same exact missive from Aeldys that I got the before (I have two of them in my inventory now).  I go to Fort Deadlight to meet with her and now when I arrive, there's a forced dialog with someone saying he's there to escort me to her.  I choose to go with him.  She is the one that asked me to come see her, but she asks me why I'm here or something.  There are a few more dialog options now though.  I can tell her about her being sentenced to death, a couple of options about the Floating Hangman, but nothing about the other two quests that started when she sent me missives earlier.

  8. I started Pillars 2 yesterday and noticed that in Steam it's showing everyone my character's name, class, level and stuff about what I'm doing.  I don't mind people seeing what game I'm playing, but I don't want this much information being broadcast to everyone on my friends list.  How do I turn it off?  I've tried playing with the Steam privacy settings and couldn't find a setting to disable just this extra information.  Searching the Steam forums I found posts that said that the setting to disable showing this extra information should be in the game.   I looked in the game's options and don't see anything that will disable it.

  9. I guess this never got fixed, and probably never will.  I too put this on Grieving Mother.  She has had that armor for a little while now and there is no telling how many times she has blinded Durance before I noticed it tonight.  She also has One-Eyed Molina's Gold-Fingered Spike-Flinger, which I also just found out is broken while searching for this armor bug.  I guess it's time to re-evaluate her equipment.

Also, for the wurm you had to have a tier of $50+. Not sure if this applies to you or not, but something to consider. Let me know if you are supposed to have the pet, but do not.

Sorry to necro this.  I backed at the physical collectors edition with the White March addon ($160 total), but I only started playing fairly recently.  I have the ring, space pig, obsidian cloak and the achievement, but not the tiny obsidian wurm.  It's been so long since the Kickstarter I had forgotten about it and only discovered that I didn't have it while searching for something else.  I hope I'm not too late.

  11. I just read the MS news about this.  This sentence sums it all up:

We’re focused on implementing new Microsoft technologies, delivering content for new platforms and services like Xbox Game Pass, and creating exclusive games that turn players into loyal Xbox fans.

Their priority is creating loyal Xbox fan(boys).  This means UWP + Windows Store + XBone exclusives.  So the chances of Obsidian games on GOG, Steam and other consoles is very slim.

  12. Whoever handled packaging the physical goods, never use them again. I didn't receive a shipping notice and found a the package arrived today (I did find it in the SPAM after receiving this update). I saw who it was from and knew what it was. I rushed in and opened the box only to find the larger box, which I assume is the statue, has a corner crushed in. There is no damage to the outside of the box, so the box was damaged before being packed up. I haven't unpacked the box until I find out what to do about it.

  13. Announcements

The time to pledge for Deadfire high-tier items is coming to an end. If you want to get an item in the game, you have until next Friday, September 29th, to pledge for that tier. After that, they will no longer be available. The tiers this affects are as follows:

    • Create a Super-Pet
All other tiers will remain open until October 31st, so mark that date if you want to up your pledge or let your friends know to get in on Deadfire early!

I asked a question a question back in February about the super pet tier and never got an official answer. I had an interesting idea of how my pet would be found and her requirements for joining your party (because she wouldn't follow just anyone) and what her buff could be. I never finalized my pledge on the backer portal because I was still thinking about upgrading, but I'd like to know if what I want to do is possible before I drop that kind of money.

  14. I can't log into the backer portal.  I tried on the old Pillars backer URL because I'm trying to access something from the original Pillars portal.  After submitting my login there, it forwarded me to the new Pillars 2 portal, but the page just seems to refresh and I'm still on the login screen.  I tried resetting my password just in case, and for some reason that locked me out for 15 minutes.  Now that the 15 minutes have passed, I still can't log in.

  15. My physical box arrived today!  I was sitting here at the computer this morning when I receive an email titled "Your order has been delivered."  I almost deleted it thinking it was spam because I hadn't ordered anything recently, but then I notice it's from Paradox Interactive and remembered that they were fulfilling the physical goods for PoE.  I rushed to the front door and there was a box on the front porch!

I should probably ask this in a separate post, and I will if no one reading this knows (I did a brief search).  Since the DVD version in the box is v1.04, where do we get patches for it?  It's not really a big deal since I redeemed my digital KS reward on GOG, but I'm just curious.

  16.

I've stopped playing for the moment so that I don't get too far ahead in the plot where she wont be able to catch up and we can still talk about the game.  I may just have to wait till the retail copy shows up to go back to playing it.

I claimed a steam key last night for the preload to happen to be all set to play and assumed they would probably have this stuff all straightened out at release time since they weren't putting the other rewards like the strategy guide, etc up until the game actually launched.

You can use Steam's Family Sharing and share your libraries with each other.  Your wife can play games in your library and you can play games in hers, just not at the same time.

Kind of takes some of the fun out of playing together :)

Put the Steam client that has PoE in offline mode.  This frees up that library for family sharing and you can both play it.
