I'm assuming "Final Patch" does not include minor patches to fix bugs that might have been introduced.
-
Odd this video wasn't posted on Obsidian's own YT channel. Seems like that would be a good idea.
-
First DLC going to be out before we get our physical rewards. Just lol. What a farce.
Trickling out shipments like this leads me to suspect a cash flow problem.
Oh, well. I, too, gave Obsidian the benefit of the doubt given their excellent fulfillment record with PoE. Won't be making that mistake again.

"The end of the year..."?
So, it's going to take another five months for all the physical rewards to ship?
-
I doubt this is really a bug. More likely I'm just missing something obvious... but I can't seem to add a menagerie or captain's cabin upgrade to any of my ships.
I buy the upgrade and drag it over to the appropriate slot on the ship. It asks if I want to save, I say yes, and nothing happens. The upgrade isn't applied and goes right back into my inventory.
What's up?
-
Yep! Disable the Steam Overlay in the Steam Settings and it'll fix this issue. I came here looking for a fix because I was having the same problem - thanks guys!
It isn't necessary to disable it for all games. Just right-click on PoE2 in the games list, select "properties", and from the General tab uncheck "Enable the Steam overlay in game".

Turning off the Steam overlay fixes it for me as well.
Bit annoying since I like using the built-in frame counter, but there's always Fraps.

I'm using full screen. I've tried switching to windowed and turning off both "cage cursor" and "screen edge scrolling". Doesn't seem to make a difference.
In case it matters, I'm running a dual-monitor setup. The game is running only in one monitor at 1920x1200.
-
We may be talking about somewhat different problems.
To be clear, I don't have the "dozen clicks" issue. What I'm seeing is that the game will frequently (but not always) fail to register a click the first time, but it will work after 2-3 tries. This can happen in dialog select boxes, inventory, the character menus, wherever.
Attaching my latest log in case it helps.

Yep, me too. It often takes 2-3 tries to get a mouse click to register.

But why release when the game is not ready. Difficulty is an important part of the game play experience.
Because resources aren't infinite and the game has to release eventually.
Ultimately, it's hard to disagree with prioritizing bug fixing over combat balance, and based on their track record with PoE1 I'm confident they'll address it.

i hate that they stick to this stupid old outdated release schedule of releasing on a tuesday...releasing games on a friday would be sooooo much better for everyone
Except the people releasing the game who would probably rather not be fielding a flood of support requests and working on emergency patches over the weekend.

I don't know but I'm worried that Deadfire won't fair too well. There's far too many big titles coming out in May and it ends up looking like a poor decision on Obsidian's part. Then again, June has even more great games releasing so I guess it's a do or die situation.Steam store page says 9th of May
You really are Mr. Positive, aren't you?

The game will release on May 8 in the US. Almost certainly at 10:00am PDT, though we don't have confirmation on a time yet.
This would be May 8 17:00 UTC. Calculate the difference to match your time zone.

Backers just got this email:
Greetings, Backers!
We wanted to discuss with you the physical orders for Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. When we started the campaign last year, our goal was to get the
physical items out to you day-and-date with the release of the game on May 8th. We also wanted to make sure what we were creating was even higher quality
than what we delivered to our original Pillars of Eternity Backers, and they are!
We are very happy with how the physical items have turned out and we are sure you will be as well. Unfortunately, we were unable to hit dates on our end
that would have allowed those quality items to get to us on time. We are doing everything in our power to make sure they get here as soon as possible,
including air shipping items in, and anticipate that the delay won't be greater than a few weeks.
Everyone who ordered a physical copy of the game is able to redeem a copy of their key on the Backer Portal now! You'll still be able to play Deadfire on
May 8th, and we will endeavor to get your physical items to you as soon as we can. For all of you who did back at physical item tier, we are very sorry for
the inconvenience of the delay and appreciate your patience with us. We will keep you all updated regularly on the status of the items so you know when to
expect everything.
Thank you all for your support and we can't wait for you to sail the Deadfire in a few short weeksAnyone from Obsidian care to comment on whether some items (like the Guide Book) might ship earlier, or is everything going to come in one package?

There is zero chance I'll wait to play the game. Unless by "wait" you mean the evening of May 8.
It's a video game. There will be bugs. I'll survive.

Lots of people complained that PoE was excessively grim, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a bit more humor in Deadfire.
I imagine a large part of being a game designer (or creator of anything) is accepting the reality that you can't please everyone.
-
I doubt I'll ever touch it myself, but I'm genuinely curious to see how the port team makes Deadfire playable on a 6" Switch screen.
-
Huh.
Odd they're releasing keys two months in advance, but I suppose doing it now might reduce administrative headaches on launch day.
-
D:OS 2 is generally a very good game, but I have to agree on the camera. I'm sure a lot of people prefer 3D, but to me it's just fiddly and annoying.

I actually liked Devil's voice acting. I think the only one of the companions whose VAing I didn't like was Maneha.
The American accent thing didn't bother me at all. In fact, as a Brit, I often find the use of British voice actors jarring, particularly when they have regional accents as it attaches lots of baggage to the voice I can't shake off.
Not a single Scottish dwarf in PoE. I call that progress.

Yeah, there's nothing wrong with American accents. That's unrelated to parts of the VO not being very good.

No, thanks. If they had infinite money, sure, but it shouldn't be a very high priority.
I'm honestly not sure how Larian did it, but they can probably get away with paying voice actors a lot less than Obsidian can. Actors in California are expensive.

Haven't even had a chance to play it yet, but bugs are a safe assumption.
