It is probably the DVD drive laser going bad if it has trouble reading the discs(just my take on it)
The drive probably costs more than the Xbox i would suggest getting a refurbed console if you really want to play the games from gamestop although I really hate the company
you can purchase a re-furbed one for 50 bucks plus S&H(I am going to assume you live in America)

I think they should have had their limbs cut off, no not after they die like what does sometimes happen, but if you strike them the first time they should have say, a hand cut off. Jedi Academy was quite realistic with the saber combat, I believe it was about two hits and then they are dead, and for any normal enemies it was about 1. It was true that Outcast had more saber locks, and I certainly liked saber locks XD
cut off limbs would mean M rating though.
its rated T and you can cut off people arms and legs i've done it in jka it was kinda fun seeing the body go one way and the arms go another

Tell me about this Cedega ...
Cedega , TransGaming's flagship Linux portability product, allows Windows games to run on Linux seamlessly and transparently, right out of the box. With Cedega installed on your computer running Linux, you can simply insert your favorite Windows game CD, install and then play that game just as you would on a Windows system.
its basically an advanced version of wine
->
Wine is an Open Source implementation of the Windows API on top of X and Unix. Wine provides both a development toolkit for porting Windows sources to Unix and a program loader, allowing many unmodified Windows binaries to run on x86-based Unixes.
