  1. I'll go furrst :D

Things I would like to see in game

    1. For some reason I have always wanted to feel like I'm making an inpact on a city, visionaly, and encounter wise. If the city is getting attacked I have even gone so far as to try pickpocket guards and changing their weapons and armor too see if I could make an impossible encounter might work. This never works though.

    2. Town economy, I never really get the feeling the vendors are selling anything apart from selling YOU some upgrades, or buying all your junk. Think it would be a lot more fun if you could actually see the citizens also buy some of the stuff you sell. Like guards upgrading their armors, a craftsman displaying more jewelry in his window after you sell your gems to him or another vendor, etc. A town you can believe in, with all it's twists and spurs

    3. Secret stuff, with a few clues, burried treasure with a little side story to it. This is awesome in rpg's, makes your blood pump :D

    4. To be able to free roam with alot of enounters in it you need to stay clear off, feels great when you come back later after some lvls and kill it :)

    5. Short side games within the game I think is cool, could be pig racing, dices, cards.

    Seal the Deal

In terms of making me buy the product, I'm buying this pretty much no matter what unless I hear It's a big flop. Price should not exceed 80 Dollars though.

  2. Hello there my name is Lars, I'm a huge fan of the old RPG games from Infinity/Black Isle, and I'm really looking forward to watching this one come alive.

I would love to inspire Obsidian with some off my own ideas, and I know I'm not the only one!

One of the biggest hinderance discussing this on a forum is that on forums , people like to argue, or rather to right someone they believe to be wrong without even trying to see it from their point of view. Also there is the barrier of language, if you read a forum post and it's filled with bad english grammar, and a few sentences that just doesn't make sence, you are most likely to disregard it, or atleast you won't take it very seriously. This is where we fall short from a producers draft board, where we excell is at giving a lot of input because we are many, right or wrong.

What I would really love to see in this thread though is a bit less critisism as to why it would not work, and rather why it would, help spin some ideas if you can.. We play around and design the idea, the mechanics see what can be actually made or not.

So what I want to do here is to make a thread where all can post their ideas within a short template, this could be:

Things you would like to see in game

As the title says, you could also refer to games where you had some encounters that you really liked.

    Seal the Deal

As with a pair of windshield whipers, if you know the quality of the rubber is good, and the price is right, you are buying it. Since with a a game it's a little bit different, what do you require/want of the game to help ensure you buy it?

    Examples:

I want to be able to relax on the sofa and play it on my tv

If the critics give it more then 85% I'm gonna buy it

    I want multiplayer

    I want MODS

    A good demo

    Cool music

PS. This thread might die young, or grow a long beard. in either case I'm thinking instead of "Quoting" huge walls of text you can simply type: @Haawkings (page 1), that way it will be easier to read through.

Like if you like the users idea :) And let me know if think we should add more to the template. Ciao!

  3. LoL at the Sierra choice! I guess I would go for something between Hard-V. Hard and old school. But I wouldn't mind if they put in the Sierra one as a joke! I always hated that bethesda is hand holding the players. "Oops you can't kill *important* NPCs", or "Oh you shouldn't do that, now go take that other just as easy route".

Well it sucks when you figure out later that you can't complete your mainquest because you raided the whole village earlier on :s Kinda spoils the game... yeah.

It sucks more when my actions don't have consequences. Same for nuking someone and them being simply sleeping. It's not like the narrative won't give you hints. And Guides will be out there if you can't make it out that much

It happens, you try chat with an npc and he moves just as you are about to click him, so you end up stealing some random stuff instead and before you know it the whole town is off to kill you. **** happens, if you wipe out a city, it would be cool too see it gets some consequences too it indeed, but instead of breaking the game, perhaps they send bountyhunters on you or they send soldiers too help rebuild the fallen city. How much more fun it would be to be evil then :D

  5. Do you think we will be able to continue playing and exploring the world with our character even after we finish the story?

If it makes sense on the story, sure!

They could certainly make it an option, or they would have a point in the story where they ask if you have finished all your quests because there will be no coming back etc.

Usually for me with RPG's, it's like I play the game doing all the small quests I can find, and soon as I've finished the "final encounter" I'm taking a break from the game, be it free roam after or not.

Later I'll pick it up again, and try to play an evil character but figure out :-****, I can't do it!.. and then I'll make a new Good character and play it again atleast threw the beginning of the game until I get bored by it :D

  6. This is how Black Isle used to fix this:

The Thief could decide what he wanted to lvl, be it sneak, traps, lockpicks or so.

The Magician could only open locks if he had the right spell for it, the harder the lock, the higher lvl spell was needed.

Fighter classes could bash open the lock if he had enough strength, and in the process he might get unlucky and destroy the loot.

This way you could decide who you wanted to have what utility, the fighter beeing the worst choice for opening locks ofc :D If they are doing this oldschool I wouldn't worry about it.
