We're confusing a transactional relationship with an emotional one.
Obsidian is a business and will make business-centric decisions.
We're consumers and are therefore going to make consumer-type decisions.
Personally, I've decided *not* to purchase because exclusivity is anti-consumer and a cruddy practice. Always has been. Always will be. (Not ignoring the fact the Epic is a horrendous experience).
I won't whine, gnash my teeth or rant about a business decision. There has been no abuse of trust here because it never, really, existed.
If you want change, vote with the only thing that matters. Your purchasing decision.

That’s the best feature of a conspiracy theory; you can make it look like whatever you want. All of this paints a picture which has yet to be refuted by Obsidian.
Rational deduction from observed behaviors is a conspiracy theory now?
Adorable.
Did the process work flawlessly on Steam from the beginning? Yes.
Did the process work at all on GoG from the beginning? No.
From this we deduce that the deployment was built entirely around Steam with zero consideration for GoG.
This isn't a 'conspiracy'. This is pretty much the current state of affairs.

GOG is Obsidian’s app? The game belongs to Obsidian but the platform is GOGs and Obsidian has to adhere to their terms of use.ii) The ability to enable it is well within dev's grasp. It's their application.
Ha. Cute.
As you very well know, the in-game content is *in game*. Not "in-platform".
Try and skew this as you will, the facts remain pretty darn clear. Obsidian pegged the content to Steam, not GoG.
They only started to look at GoG when the muttering started, made some placatary gestures then went radio silent.
All of this paints a picture which has yet to be refuted by Obsidian.

Well then your last post doesn’t make very much sense, does it? You’re clearly invested in the narrative that Obsidian is intentionally out to screw GOG users, so enjoy that.
Your anger issues not withstanding:
i) The content is there.
ii) The ability to enable it is well within the dev's grasp. It's their application.
iii) They haven't done so.
This has squat to do with platform limitations. Your internal narrative is the one that's flawed. Maybe take a deep breath before responding?

How do the GOG backers *not* interpret this as anything other than what it is?
So what is it exactly?
A pretty clear and unambiguous message around which platform they've elected to favour in future?
As someone who backed because this was sold as a means to retain independence and combat this *very* idiocy, I have to now assume that all future projects will carry this taint and therefore will not be considered as worthwhile backing. :/

Wowsers.
How hard is it to provide access to the content which is clearly *already* there?
How do the GOG backers *not* interpret this as anything other than what it is?
-
Obsidian will give an answer when they feel they have a satisfactory answer.
Look. It's a precedent thing.
I get that some folks are more lenient than others but any dev I catch supporting the walled-garden-lock-out idiocy of DRM over their consumer is immediately flagged as oh-carp and placed on pause the next time around.
Because the only way we end the silliness is by casting the only vote that means anything.

Hmm.
Deathly silence is as much a response as any I suppose.

Do we have any update on this?
We are still waiting GOG customers.
What these guys said.

The Scavenger hunt is a nice idea for marketing and for the community, but could you just make the content automatically available to all players once the codes have been found? Once found, all the codes become public, and the majority of players who use the codes are just going to copypaste the codes from the forum thread.
So if they don't do that I don't think it's really a big deal.
You'd be unique in being a consumer/backer who didn't feel jilted by being denied access to content based on your platform of choice.

So. Still no love for GoG?
Pity that.

I must confess that having all party members gel with little dissent is a bit of a let down. I get why this is, but there were few things more amusing than watching the party disband and attack itself because of what someone said about our Henry... for the 10th time..
+1 for psychopathic companions.

2) The combat is really good and I can see why some people would prefer it.
Nope. Tic-tac-toe combat is anything *but* really good. Was a strong backer but when they announced the TB combat I crossed it off the list.
Other than that the game is not bad at all.
As for Pillars, personal score would be 8/10. Enjoying it immensely but certain aspects could have done with more polish/inclusion.

So....
How do I immersion ?
Tired of tearing around passively enjoying the heck out of the story/combat/scenery. I demand the next level!

Everyone at Naughty Dog would like to take this opportunity to thank you very little for dismissing their hard work and inspiration.
Naughty dog is not involved with Pillars and I am not dismissing their work
Uncharted series of gunk and Last of Us, the definitive over-hyped pile of blegh for the discerning mouth-breather.
So, I can definitely see ManifestedISO's point.... they'd like to thank you for not hammering them for being completely unrelated to your OP. I think.
Personally, while the market is severely sharded and saturated with generic crud, we are also seeing a revival in the creative base which wouldn't exist without crowd-funding, so I am feeling a lot more positive about the future of gaming.
For a while there it looked like we'd drown in a morass of Call of Yet Another Halo Craft...

Got it via TTON already..
1) Access new account page at the portal
2) Select >Rewards>Manage Keys>WL2 Redeem
3) Select GoG - it generates a key
4) Redeem key on GoG
Took all one <1minute :/
So... GoG keys are already up and running...

I am not saying we were mislead but next time it would probably be better to just say in the beginning of the KS funding phase " there will be no Romance in PoE due to reason X or reason Y "
In all fairness, I'm not sure they imagined that it was even worth mentioning... :/

Personally undecided... pros and cons for both.
Steam offers zero interference updates, so strong contender but it does chew itself up in its own cache every so often which requires scrubbing it and re-installing everything from scratch which can be... aggravating...
I do, however, strongly support GoG so I may end up grabbing another copy there as well...

DA:O was good but it was not by any strech of imagination great.
This was my experience of the game and its expansion... The spell combos were briefly engaging but the rest was pretty bland. Never mind the nickel-and-dime quests buried in the game itself...
DA2 was, well, impressively bad... almost intentionally so....
tl;dr: Will wait for a sale on this one regardless of the hype.

Oh right, let's not forget that anytime co-op or MP is in a game, it takes away from content.
So, you disagree. That's fine. In my experience, MP products are very content light. They rely primarily on the MP aspect to cover this. Because the MP aspect is such a large part of the game. SP games tend to carry really strong stories, story arcs and innovative mechanics.
But please feel free to enjoy the heck out of whatever games you appear to enjoy enough to get worked up over. Just don't expect those gamers who purposefully backed an SP game to celebrate the silliness alongside you.
Personally, MP games are largely bland, homogeneous, grind fests and as entertaining as pea soup.

no one to spoil the story or laugh at what is serious.
More importantly, the SP experience tends to deliver deeper stories and better content. MP is more focused on enforced cooperation, because "fun", and mindless action.

I've never understood why people say MMOs are cash grabs.
Content is replaced by the Multi in MMO. They rely on the other players to fluff it out and it's dull, repetitive and uninspired.
Would you prefer cash cows?

I actually look forward to the day that single player RPGs become a thing of the past.
Yeah, about that. No thanks.

Games like Minecraft, Flappy Bird, Demon Souls, and Day Z (during the arma II mod days) sold millions
Only 2 of these were worth the rabid fandom... and it certainly wasn't FB or that Demon Souls crud... so I guess your point is "word of mouth produces the same results as targeted marketing"?
But if everyone did that, nothing would ever change.
You will never change human nature and marketing is fantastically adept at tricking the inner monkey. There is no point in herniating over it. Marketers lie and suckers buy. If humanity were capable of defeating the beast there would be no reality TV.
I really can't find any better expression then disappointment, which is a first so far in the development.
Based on what? Tweets? Really? What convinced you that the previewed content was a significant departure from everything we've been exposed to in the copious updates? Or did I miss something again?
The Outer Worlds won't Launch on Steam pt 2

We get it. Some folks, less rational or contemplative folks, think having 50 storefronts each with their own little parcel of exclusive product is a *good* idea.
They would be absolutely entitled to this opinion. Completely wrong but entitled.
Accepting exclusivity bribes is anti-consumer and any publisher playing this game will not, in any way, learn this unless we collectively act to hit them on their bottom line.
The success in the idiocy behind console platforms tells us this will *never* happen because the average consumer is not all that aware.
Regardless, I say again. The correct channel through which we should voice our opinion is not ranting at each other on public forums.
It's simply choosing to not purchase. On any platform.
