  1. So we have seen discussions of Special ammo, which is an interesting idea though it is a hole can of worms. But we are looking at increased use of Pistols and Muskets in Deadfire so i was kind-of wondering if we are going to see other changes to the Firearms in the game here are some of the ideas I had.

    1. Rifled variants of all firearms, this would be a modifier that increases the hit/critical chance of the firearm with maybe a small hit to the reload speed.
    2. Smooth-bore, this would be faster to reload but would be less accurate for a solid slug but my be filled with shot to possibly used more like a shotgun and have a cone of effect with a high drop off.
    3. single shot, so this is based on the old cavalry usage of firearms where you may have a few loaded pistols that you fire in quick succession and drop after each is shot, then you pull your melee weapon and rush in.
    4. Carbine variants of rifles that allow for faster reload but have a shorter effective range, but no change to overall damage on things in range
    5. Bayonet, this would drastically increase reload speed but now the firearm is now also a low speck spear. this one really is historically based where sense the inception of a military musket there was always a bayonet, and we still haven't totally gotten rid of them on modern military arms.
    6. The Last idea would be different lock types, Match, Wheel, and Flint. in reality the only difference between these is reload speed and the time from pulling the trigger to the projectile leaving the barrel of a firearm. match locks are prone to the match going out and the match not always setting off the flash pan. Wheel locks are way better reliability wise but they have to be wound with each reload and they take a few fractions of a second for the sparkier to ignite the flash pan. and flint locks are the quickest of the three and have the highest reliability, until you get to percussion cap firearms, which i don't know if those have been developed yet in the world of PoE.

I would love to hear your ideas on the matter of more fleshed out guns in Deadfire.

  2.

Though if the Falcon is a new Ranger pet that would be awesome.

I agree, though I'll be honest—and I certainly appreciate being with the minority here—I would like it even better if the falcon companion was exclusive to this NPC. It would make her more special.

That's not to say PC rangers can't have more animal companions that weren't in the original game. It's just that I feel NPCs with their own unique perk tend to be more interesting/attractive, and a ranger with a unique falcon companion would be very much so.

We are going to a hole new ecosystem, we may be up for some really cool new wildlife. I keep thinking about a strange mash up of the Caribbean, Galapagos, and Pacific Islands with a heavy dose of fantasy.

  3. Maybe instead of one big 15 level mega dungeon, we have ether three, five layer dungeons or five, three layer dungeons. each with its own story and boss at the bottom, this way they can be more easily hand crafted with puzzles and larger levels. with a overall playtime of maybe 45 min for each dungeon. Maybe stick one under an Inn and kick off the quest with the innkeeper asking you too clean out the rats from the basement.

  4. i wouldn't mind another mega dungeon, just make it vary unique (and give it a very different visual style compared to the rest of the game) so you're not just repaving ground already covered in PoE1. and no mega dragon (that thing took me about half an hour to chip-away at it's health, if i can fight it without a party wipe-out or ten)

Indeed that dragon was like going up against unpatched Duirel as an Assassin back in Diablo II, that is the type of boss that needs to be scaled. I got wiped a few times by the dragon and just left and finished every side quest and leveled up as much as possible then took her on before I completed the story.

  5. So when we are moving through the Archipelago I assume that we going to higher a ship to begin with and use that between each island. But is the game going to have the same over-world Map travel system that we have in PoE? Or is there going to be more in world exploration between islands or maybe do the JRPG thing of walking around the overworld map?

    What do you guys/gals think?

  6. We do have variable weather storms (light rain/heavy rain), that does include lightening too. Hurricanes and tornadoes were discussed, but it's very hard to do fierce storms in a procedural way.

When we are indoors during a Storm are we still going to hear the rain and see the lighting in the windows? Maybe even see a few leeks in the roof causing puddles or NPC's putting a pot under the leek.

  7. It would be nice if they could have an Oblivion-like level of detail when it came to NPC schedules, but I think that's something that would be a lot less noticeable in a game like this, especially for generic NPCs.

It would be cool if there were a few NPCs that exhibited strange behavior if you paid enough attention to them, such as late-night benders.

I do really like the idea of drinking buddies, or more relationships between NPCs in general, even if only for named characters.

It could be relay fun to use NPC's drinking to cause an impromptu scavengers hunt to try to find the Blacksmith who got blasted and wandered off his group.

  8. Can we please have bows organised by draw weight, so that when you level up a ranged class you can use a heaver bow more accurately, and thus you have better chances of getting higher damage.

if we add ammo for ranged classes we need quivers that holds 1-3 dozen arrows and to be able to recover the arrows and bolts when we loot the corpses, with a small chance that the arrow snaps on impact.

last would be specialty ammo for ranged classes, so like Bodkins, and Broadheads (I would say firearrows but Lindybeige would have my head).
