I suppose the thinking is that with the old rules of engagement people were getting away with rape. And of course now people are getting away with false rape allegations. Not really an improvement.
Well, if you are a woman and don't care about objective standards in the legal system it probably does protect you from rape better than before, seeing as how you have the systemic advantage now and men you engage with are constantly going to be some degre of paranoid about your 'unstated level of consent'.
Considering the level of abuse towards women in most societies I have no issue with them having a systemic advantage
Its funny but despite all the women I have interacted with in my life I have never been accused of rape and neither have any of my male friends, yet I know women who have been raped
So a systemic advantage seems like a good idea, I'm not sure why people are so worried?
It's not a good idea. You do not change legal basic rules to cater to a specific demographics. It's already a huge problem for men to get equal footing in courts where it comes to things related to parents' rights, now you complicate another section of legal system to be skewed heavily in favor of the women, and it creates dangerous precedence in legal system where the defender is guilty until it is proven otherwise. That's not how the law should work.
In order for you to comprehend the issue better It's like stacking law against blacks in South Africa in not so distant past, where they were generally guilty on hints and simple accusations unless they could produce a hard proof of innocence.
This only creates field for extreme abuses, as portrayed in the presented case.

IMO saying "No" is enough when you don't feel like it, and if someone does not get that rule, it won't change with the "need to hear yes" rule, but this opens big and ugly door for abuses.
Not to mention that it moves the flirting into a bit akward situations. I can quote myself with the previous example:

so in short, every male is guilty unless proven otherwise... Even though I despise anyone who is even remotely approaching abusive behaviors vs women, the law's basic principle should not be twisted around and reverse the basic principle of being not-guilty until proven.

I simulated all my battles
Simulating battles in MoO is like autoresolving battles in Heroes of Might and Magic or Total War series. Sure, you can, but you are missing at least half of the game. All the tech upgrades, custom designs and army build ups, which you never see in action... Nah, I will pass such a boring game. No player controlled combat is a big turn off for me from all strategy games. If I want pure simulations then I play a game like original SimCity series or some Tycoon.

It seems this game will not have tactical combat. If that turns out true, I don't care about it anymore.
if there will be no tactical combat then that's not MoO game.... and certainly a big rage inducing factor....

If they will.make combat mechanics actually playable in turn base system i will support the idea.

It's possible that the games is good, but I read as far as "You will design custom spaceships and deploy them into real-time battles" and stopped reading.
I dislike "RTS" games passionately.
DOnt get it fool you, it really have decent space battles very similiar to old Moo unlike that junk that Galactic civilizations got instead of combat
The one thing that killed GC series for me is that crappy space combat... even Endless space has better combat, although i don't like the phase and resolution system. Best 4X developed after MoO2 era for me so far was the Sword of the Stars first game, but it had pretty meh planet management and the only redeeming factor was the space conquest and RT battles.
If only Sid would expand on the Starships game and change it into a fullblown 4X that would be probably best game since MoO2 but in the current shape it's a fun space.combat TB 1 session game.
I really hope that this remake will rock my socks off...

I had no idea there was a DAI thread.
How did you guys bring yourself to look at Cassandra's man face for more than ten seconds without losing your mind?
I was such a huge dragon age fan that I purposely made sure not to watch any trailers or look at any screenshots for inquisition. I'll never forget that night when I played DAI for the first time. When I saw Cassandra's face, i was so confused. Her face literally broke immersion and I just sat there looking at her face from all angles trying to make sense of it. Sadly, I could not.
Then I discovered the next romance option, Josephine. Unfortunately she looks ugly as hell. I could not stop looking at her nose when she spoke.
So then I thought okay, we'll romance Leliana, turns out you can't. Morrigan same deal.
No worries, let's see how the other companions fair.
Sera, can't romance her as straight male, but even if she was romance-able I still wouldn't. Her face looks like Gollum.
Okay Vivienne, nice pretty face, get some chocolate action you know? Then she takes off her helmet. DUDE. SHE IS BALD MAN, WTF?

Wtf happened? So many of the women have these weird shaved heads.
Cassandra loses her appeal for me more so when I see her walk. She's got a ... stern face, but it's not ugly. She's kind of on the butch side, but still. I could get over it. But then I see her walk like an ape and I'm like, no.
Unfortunately, BioWare seems to have made every single female in the game walk like an ape. I just don't know how animators in the year 2014 (when it was released) can do such a horrible job with how the females in the game move about.
Did you think that they will walk like on a catwalk?

I never actually played Dragon Wars. I played the entire Bard's Tale Trilogy, but never Dragon Wars. My friend had Dragon Wars on his Apple IIgs and I watched him play a little of it, but I never got to play it myself (I had a Tandy 1000, so I couldn't just borrow the game from him). I might scoop it up and give it a go.

it seems my friends that creators of World of Tanks decided to revive and recreate the one and only legendary space 4X TB strategy game - Master of Orion...
and the trailer:
I HOPE they will make it great. From what I read it seems they have some of the original crew behind the MoO on board in the subsidiary developer responsible for making this game.
I really miss a good 4X space TB game. Endless Space was cool, but it missed out on combat aspect, Sword of the stars (first one) had some neat ideas and then Second was a flop IMO.... oh well..I hope that the king is back

I would not be surprised. Perhaps not THE minigun but something like boltthrower with autoload and circular movement that load bolts from a belt is in their premise 100%

I know I will fail to convince you but its not racist if its intention is to be inclusive and we don't need other cultures to prompt the white\European race...we already dominate on most levels
I for one would not have been half as interested in the Witcher if it had not built up a great sense of internal consistency in its gameworld, if it had had the usual boring AD&D setting, or did not include the Slavic cultural mores which made it so unique and exotic. Then again we can't have something unique, distinct and rare can we? We've got to turn everything into a dull paint by numbers politically correct sermon.
But its really a fantasy realm so why not just include minorities? It can still be very Slavic but I don't see the big deal?
The big deal is
1) Is that it is quite racist to include minorities for the sake of them being minorities.
2) The double standard. No one is forcing the Japanese/Asian market to include whites or blacks in their games.
Racism is still racism despite with "good" intensions, nice try though. Who's "we?" not needing to prompt european race? Who are you talking about? Why is it morally right for any artist pursue this racial/cultural propaganda and why should companies profit from it?

Because trying to tell whites that their race and culture should not be promoted is quite evil, is it not? Like there is a certain layer of what the human expression of oneself can go before someone else puts an arbitrary stop-sign telling them that their culture just have had enough.

Yes, because a lot of it seems to be getting forgotten. The old folk tales the old culture etc and it is being overshadowed by shows like jersey shore or hells kitchen. You come from a country tha was a mere colony and try to school others on how they should perceive and promote their own millenia long cultural roots?
Mind your own cultural background and do not school others on representation of their culture you "colonist"

Throughout the history there was opression of various kinds and it was always the victors over the defeated. It does not matter what race or geographic location. It's just the nature of the conflicts that we had up to the end of world war 2. And even today in less civilized regions of the worlds those old rules still apply.

(i mean by the endgame you get on equal footing in terms of air combat and your ground troops have access to power armors that are super tanky, can fly or can make you invisible, plus you get to improve on enemy plasma weaponry, you also get super advanced in genetics and you can create dudes that can punch sectopods in their face with big metal powerfists)And now we're gonna do it again. Better late than ever?
but at least the progression is "reasonable" and it may have some twists. maybe it will not be fully linear (we see in the demo soldiers using weapons with various add-ons taken from salvaged/captured weapons), maybe t will have some more branching and specializations, etc. wait and see approach, but it is definitely better than trying to go from super advanced to hyper advanced, where you would probably end up with something like implosion guns or whatever ridiculous idea there could be.

It's the aftermath of your first Ironman Impossible playthrough ever when it was your first contact with the game ever, meaning, most likely you were decimated in first 2 months and council pulled off the funding where you get this nice "you lost" video.
The world where XCOM wins is a new happy, very unrealistic alternate universe.

also, make sure to continue getting an active consent and record it witch each piece of clothing being removed... make sure you will get a clear verbal consent and have it recorded!
