  1. I'd rather a white knight than a mysogynerd ****tard any day of the week.

But then I'm only a woman who has donated to this kickstarter I mean what does my opinion matter right? If the majority of the demographic is white that means racism is allowed since sexism is okay when the majority are men. /sarcasm

I don't want my female playable characters to look like strippers just as I'm sure you don't want your male playable characters to look like Edward from Twilight. I don't see why it's such an imposition. I mean you aren't going to die if a woman doesn't flash some boob at you every five minutes.

Any other women want to be immature and overreact?

  2. Perhaps, since you know Gods exist, there should be a choice not to worship them. You see the Gods as flawed or outdated and (optional) choose to believe humans together are superior to the Gods, thus worshiping none of them. Not sure what you would call this kind of belief though. It would be something new I imagine. But it could make sense in a world with Gods and be interesting to stand apart from them.

Or another way could be you know Gods exist and believe them powerful and good in most cases but you'd rather achieve your ambitions on your own with no help from them, so you don't worship any of them.

  3. Personally, I wish that Obsidian would make a game for EA. Obsidian games are great in a lot of respects, but EA would hold them to higher standards in some areas that they lack in. For example, EA says that they aren't going to publish any more single player games only games, so they would not allow Project Eternity's shameful lack of multi player content. Also, I'm worried that Obsidian's profits will be sapped by piracy, and implementing Origin's always online DRM would help protect Obsidian's investment substantially. And finally, if EA was publishing Project Eternity, we might actually get some day one dlc. I know that some folks are satisfied to wait 6 months for new content, but I'd rather get my hands on it faster.

  4. I think we should have a serious and good-natured forum challenge. Hear me out, I am entirely serious.

Team one is the pro-romance forumites.

Team two, by a process of cunning elimination, are the winners anti-romance forumites.

We both write a synopsis of a romance arc and come back and compare notes. Face it, t'would be comedy gold and some important learning points (guffaws) might drop out of it, like golden crap from a gilded goose, fed on the foie gras of luuuurvve.

I say we just fight each other to the death. Whoever wins gets their way.
  5. My badge is that I am an Obsidian Order member. Priority Number 1 should be getting the game done.

Sorry but that's not a badge. That's a vanity plate.

As for the game, i'm beginning to think Chris, Tim and the rest have already skipped town with the Kickstarter money and are sitting on a beach in Mexico or somewhere with those drinks with the little hats.

I think it's going to take a week maybe longer before they have the money in their accounts. It would be pretty cool and funny if they'd been on a tear partying since the kickstarter ended still celebrating.
  6. I didn't realize we had so many experts on boob platemail armor. Fascinating.

How have you guys tested these boob plate armors?

Are some of the easy to find sources. I sat in on a lecture of middle-ages armor at university and they discussed this at well with some more academic sources. That, and physics evidence.

Also, I indeed think most of this worry is uneeded. Obsidian has a good track record, of both enthralling storytelling and quality game mechanics and graphics. That said, I've seen companies deviate and fall short of their potential - especially as of late. I still have hope and trust in them to make another immensely enjoyable game.

Ouch Grimlorn, you didn't expect to actually find someone who does know what they are talking about. ..sorry buddy but it happens when you call someones bluff :)

    Ouch BruceVC, can't into reading.

Actually...yes. I've made both chain and "half-plate" armors for SCA participants, along with a number of other materials. And there are plenty of other sources available to back it up if you choose not to take "my" word for it. One fellow who posted an article over at MadArtLab earlier in the thread I believe explained it well there also, and there have been countless discussions on how and why plate (and other forms of) armor were shaped and designed as they were in historical reenactment circles. There are a number of other misconceptions (such as maneuverability in "full plate" armor, mounting a horse, etc etc) which have been disproven time and again too, yet people still seem to persist in believing them - often due to movie depictions and/or reliance on older history books and the like which did not have a very good real understanding and only went for the "common sense" explanation - and lemme tell you, when designing weapons and armor for actual combat use, "common sense" actually ends up having VERY little to do with real life...

I was actually being sarcastic. I don't really care about a nerdy discussion about armor. Realism isn't a very good argument for games as they lack it in spades. I've seen women complain that women in games didn't look feminine enough, so you're going to have that if you just make them look like men with long hair in full armor.

I see, but if women aren't in boob plate armor how will I know they are actual women and not just some clever tranny in disguise?

Who says you need to know?

I have to know. If they're lying about their sex, what else are they lying about? hmmmmmmm?

  10. Personally, I'd like some realism when it comes to differences between males and females. For instance, if there is a Strength stat it should be like it is in real life. Say 18 str is the max a male can have then 9 should be the max a female can have since they are only about half as strong as men on average. It ruins my immersion when I see men and women being physically equal with no realistic differences between the genders like in real life.

This may be so for the general population, but the party members are expected to be unique. Yes, 18 Str is very high for a male and extraordinarily so for a female, but so what? The player should be free to choose exceptional examples out of the population. If you don't like it, go to the adventurer's hall and apply your own limits. Problem solved. :)

So we have to have below average males that are more or less equal with extraordinary women, for equality? That sounds like punishing men for being physically stronger than women. That's not fair or realistic. :(
