  1. Thanks, maybe I do that. In the meantime I managed to gain a level with some characters. The level 6 cipher powers seem very good, amplified wave and disintegration. I didn't play long or any tough encounters but it seems those powers are a big deal. Before that I was mainly doing dmg with amplified thrust, detonate, and cc-ing with ringleader. Now, I have the feeling that using confusion (Aloth) and picking of the rest one by one with high dmg spells is working better.

  2. A long time ago I started a PotD game with Cipher as main. For some reason I stopped playing the game and now I wanted to finish it before PoE2 comes out. But man is it hard to get back into the game, everything just wipes the floor with my party. I am level 10 and did all Act 2 quests but didn't attend the hearings yet. In the Paths I am in level 7. In WM1 I did most of the sidequests but those Lagufaeth mobs just kill me as do the kith groups (bounty).

So I am looking for some hints to (re-)build or re-learn my party to give me an edge.

    Currently i have:

    1. Eder as tank with his Saints War armor, Whipers of Yenwood and shield

    2. Durance for buff/debuff and heal with some soulbound scepter and heavy armor

    3. Pallagina as offtank with White Crest Armor and St Ydwen's Redeemer and Zealous Endurance to protect Eder and other frontliners

    4. Aloth or Grieving Mother (mainly for CC)

    5. Hiravias with some soulbound quarterstaff OR Maneha with dual wield to do extra dmg.

    MC: Cipher with arquebus

I also have access to all other companions.

What I am asking for is some advice for some as straightforward and as OP approach to build the party and engage enemies, just that I can get back into the game. Maybe some links to builds that work well together? Obviously the party I have doesn't really work or I fail to manage it properly. In most engagements the enemies just start casting, everything becomes a big mess of colors and light, and everyone starts dying. I know, sounds very noobish. I just haven't played the game for 2 years and have forgotten most stuff. And damn, PotD is annoying, huge mistake on my part. But I also don't want to cheat or restart.

  3. Hey there!

I was looking for a game that would be fun to play with my wife. We both love Obsidian games, so Pathfinder seemed a perfect choice. So let me start with two general questions:

    1. Is this game fun in multiplayer with two players?

    2. And is there an option for local play with 2 iPads (instead of pass&play)? (If yes, do both players need to buy campaigns of are IAPs shared via Apple family sharing?)

    About pass&play:

    3. How do i play it? In the options pass&play is turned off and greyed out (cannot be toggled).

He's talking about the fact that almost every depiction of nudity and sex in videogames have been "12 year old's cringey hornyness for style + the worst B-grade budget porn production", e.g. DAO sex scenes.

But then, this thread is 'crazy ideas', so sure. Proper nudity, sex? Nothing against that. What we do get tends to be puerile trash.

Exactly. Almost every game has this "12 year old's cringey hornyness", with Xena chainmail on the one hand and ridiculous non-explicit true love story dialogue on the other hand. While in reality people flirt, tease, and fu*k, that are basic parts of human interactions. Now tell me how many Quests you know in cRPG where sex is a possible solution? I am not saying this should be standard, but for some characters this should be a viable way to approach things.

Indeed.  We should also be able to solve quests by texting your cousin on her birthday, singing showtunes at a karaoke bar, and scheduling meetings to discuss budget processes.  You know-- the basic parts of human interactions.

Well, luckily I don't sing karaoke or text cousins etc as often as, well you know. ;)

Anyway, I seem to be the only one who is surprised that the characters I play never find NPCs attractive and react accordingly, or vice versa. That's ok, I can live without it in cRPGs. It is strange though.

Nudity and proper sexual references. Not because i am a horny old man (am i?), but rather because this is a key part of being alive. I much rather expect to encounter sex than to find romance in the sense of true love during an adventure with some companions. Think Game of Thrones.

My point is this doesn't need to be creepy.

and yet more than fifteen years o' bad crpg sex minigames at least suggest otherwise.

    HA! Good Fun!

    What are you talking about?

  7.

Romance could also be used as tool without love:

    • Player Character could optionally seduce bored noble to gain information or benefits which otherwise would take much longer
    • NPC could seduce player promising unspoken pleasures, but it will be just to push player to do some dirty job.

That would just be sex/using sex appeal, which is rather mundane and not what makes romances compelling.

But this is what make roleplaying compelling.

  8. I very much hope that story and lore will be much more delivered through quests and "stuff visibly happening in the game world", rather than what you called "lore dumps". If references to dreams, visions, or past events need to me made, let us participate, similar to the way BG2 handled dreams. But please no more endless walls of flavoured text. (I don't mind reading at all, but the content matters)

  9. Just because some people can't play with engagement it doesn't mean it has to be turned off. You just have to know when you can afford to take that Disengagement Attack.

Honestly I've built my chars in such a way that I usually don't care for DA at all.

Pathfinding thus far in 3.0 is a lot better it seems. Playable without major problems.

Just to be clear, i really like the engagement system, just not the execution of the pathfinding. It's also not a question of skill, as you imply. I can do the micro, i just find it tedious and unnecessary.

  10. It's not such a problem in BG because there is no engagement, and other party members make way on their own. I PoE it's sometimes a real pain to micro repositioning, because you first have to make way, which means moving other party members manually bach and forth, more so you cannot give all commands at once, but often in sequence, moving one party member after the other. In tight spaces this can suck big time.

  11. I find it still quite bugged and requires a lot cumbersome micro on higher difficulties. Imo the engagement mechanic is great, but it seems they never got the code for the pathfinding right. Given the time that passed, i don't think it will ever be fixed entirely. But it would be a great aid if the game would provide more UI feedback. For instance, it would be helpful to have clear visual representation of engagement zones (ideally with a toggle), also i would really like to see if the space between characters, and in game objects is wide enough for other characters to pass through. This could be implemented by highlighting all space where characters cannot pass.
