    Wow, awesome update! I love the lore! It will be so nice to play a game in a world again that is actually alive and has it's own history incl. deep and meaningful lore. Thank you! :)

     

    And the Screenshot of the enviroment is beautiful! Kudos to the artists of the enviroment team! :)

     

    Btw, the water (like in the screenshot) will flow, right? ^^ ;)

    Maybe he is just upset because he didn't join first :wacko: ....... or he really doesn't like us very much. :( in which case :bat: LOL

     

    It was not really something that I was expecting from Avellone. It's not like it really means anything, just the fans supporting the developer with an extra $8 per person.... But oh well, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Including Avellone.

    A sad face was bad choice if you follow the context... and Avellone never responded to Alvin... And Avellone never said anything about the Order....

     

    But, I guess we will never really know. If we did, then we would probably already have our pitforks ready. ^^

    Hello friends. Could I be, "Paladin of the Most Noble Order of Obsidian"?

    Sorry, Radiant Heart, we already have a Paladin. Check the members list on the first page and choose another title... dwarven paladin, for example, would be fine though. :)

    Obsidian could have added him at $1, but the Feargusaurus really likes to see us suffer. ^^

     

    But seriously, George Ziets really is the bigger goal. Having such a talented writer on the team really improves the game much more than by just adding two, albeit awesome, classes. Obsidian is also trying to raise funds for the game - so their choice makes a lot of sense.

    So please, Obsidian, don't translate proper names of characters and locations and also items/equipment in German! :yes:

    I'm ok with not translating characters and locations - but items and equipment should definitely be translated imo.

     

    Schmutziger Harry?... Klingt irgendwie nicht richtig ;)

    It is also a bad translation. :) It sounds like some guy named Harry needs to take a shower. ^^ "Der erboste Harry" or "Der zornige Harry" would be better translations.

     

    It is usually not a good idea to translate some stuff (especially slang) directly.

    We try to put pronunciation notes for every non-English word/name in our text notes. In some cases, we are trying to evoke a certain real-world correlation with spelling and pronunciation, z.B. the Vailian Republics are supposed to seem like Italian city-states, so when someone reads "Ancenze", the sound is important.

     

    I understand your concerns and Obsidian is aware as well. It was also in the daily Q&As in the Kickstarter comments. Feargus answer was, that they have learned their lessons since the old days of Baldur's Gate. He absolutely knows about the saxon elves.

    Sächselnde Elfen... that is like having Elves that talk like Cowboys with a thick southern American accent. ^^

    The thread is fine, nothing obscene. :)

     

    He wants the translation to not only include the basic text, but the names of places, people, etc. as well. In other words, a complete translation. He argues that the translation then sounds more direct; And if any one wants English names in a game, that they should then play it in English. Fantasy names (Edair, Cadegund, etc.) should not be translated, because they are not English.

     

    For example: Samuel Cooke -> Samuel Koch; Knights Valley -> Rittertal; Sunset Sarsaparilla -> Abendrot Sarsaparille
