  1.

Looking good, although checking some of the pictures at the original size makes it kinda obvious that the pic weren't really meant to go online (some are really pixelated and a couple are obviously WIP.. the dwarf is very brightly lit compared to the environment, and I really doubt Obsidian's artist sat there looking at that and thought "good enough!").

    This is probably my favorite.

    Seconded. That looks fantastic.

Without a doubt that is the most BG2ish looking shot.

  2. So I donated mucho pesos to this project (through the Codex) with the understanding that I would be receiving a MCA avatar as a reward.

    Well?

Does the M stand for Miscreant? Maybe the C really means Con-man. Maybe the A means A#$h%#e.

Where's my avatar MCA? Why have you betrayed me and the rest of the codex? Why are you so bad at Arcanum?

    I demand answers!

  3. Alignment is for chumps.A good person can do bad things but it only matters if people know what he has done and care. Alignment/karma/light side/dark side should be done away with and reaction flags used for interactions.

You have a list of possible outcomes for each quest/event and NPC react to them based on what they know and care about. A mob boss does not care if you killed someone but he might care if you betrayed a partner or worked with the authorities. A priest is probably more concerned with any mayhem you have caused or prevented as opposed to any political figures you have blackmailed.

It's harder to script but it's better than a reputation system that only rewards 'good deeds.

  4. Maybe it'll be like in Shadows of Amn where you get a different base depending on your class and solve quests related to your stronghold.

I think having class specific strongholds or a stronghold quest line that was class specific is key. I loved the stronghold quests in BG2 but the CRK stronghold in NWN2 felt like work. It was way to generic because was designed for all classes.

The other option would be to have the stronghold associated with the 2md large city. Maybe a quest-line that makes you the lord or governor or whatever. Of course this could have the problem of degenerating into something like the NWN2 stronghold.

  5. Not having a level cap means more development costs. I'd be in favor of a temporary level cap that can be lifted as sequels become available.

    Agreed.

Without a level cap you need to have your entire level progression codded into the game. i would prefer this to go the route of BG/BG2 with level advancement. Or rather maybe levels 1-15 in the first game and level 16-30 in the sequel.

  6. I actually liked the casting time mechanic. It was another tactical layer to the magic combat of BG2/ToB. There were many battles that were won or lost (with SCSII installed at least) based on how well your front-line grunts held up while your mage cast his spells.

Also MM was one of the most powerful spells in the IE games. Anyone who does not understand that is a misguided amateur (been told I cannot say the word 'idiot' around here).

  7. Where can I see Adam’s Icewind Dale II playthough?

    Unfortunately it’s not available.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Do another one? Nyes, nyes, nyes.

Sounds like a plan to me.

CA does a LP Arcanum and AB does a LP IWD2.

This would be their chillax time.... playing RPGs.

Adam wouldn't need to start over. He could use his last save game.

Did you see his party? He should start over.

  8. Now this a a thread about relationships in PE. This is a real thread with real emotions. That means if someone calls you an idiot call them one back and explain why they are an idiot. No crying allowed.

So recent romances suck. Everyone agrees. If you don't your an idiot (see opening paragraph).

The romances in PS:T were understated. First time I played through I didn't even know I was in one until marching off to the war at the end. In KotR2 they was also pretty low-key. To be honest they didn't bother me (**** you codex) but the recent biocrap (since ME) have been utter ****. In DA:O it even devolved into a gift giving game. Really?

But there is more to romance/sex (sex is what people are talking about even if they don't admit it).

Now W1 and FO had hookers. In BG2 you could make that whore/slave in the CC have sex with you. It pissed off your companions but you could do it. In W1 you could get STDs. In FO2 you got the gigolo perk/tag. Who took the fluffer job because you didn't know what it meant? I didn't because I'm not an idiot but I bet some of you did. That stuff was great?

The key thing was these were not with party members.

Anyway what type of relationships do we really want with NPCs?
