In the store, we have Wasteland 2 Digital Deluxe for ~55€, the retail version for ~40€ and only the game from the PoE reward for... 15€ ?

Are you sure you're not confusing something here?

The only thing I see at 15€ on GOG is an upgrade from the Classic Edition (the 40€ one) to the Deluxe Edition (I don' see it on Steam however). I don't see any 'game-only, no other stuffs' Edition for sale anywhere.

Also, just to be sure I understand things correctly: PoE backers get the special 'game-only, no other stuffs' Edition on GOG, right? Is it the same on Steam?

No, the KS edition of Wateland 2 is not for sale but when you redeem a code you get an email telling you the cost was waved and the cost it shows is $20 which is about 15 euros.

Also yes, game only, shot in the kneecaps version of the game, same on Steam and GOG.

  2. Yes most of the animations and stuff are not that polished (I don't think) they're "beta"

    The combat isn't tuned yet

You can either help submit constructive feedback or complain. One of those things will not help the game be better upon release, and one will.

The PE beta is about on par with the Wasteland 2 and Div:OS betas although it is better and worse in different ways than the others.

If it's on par with DOS and W2 betas then things will likely be fine for release hopefully seeing as the other two have succeeded and Obsidian is a much bigger and more experienced company than both inXile and Larian.

But Wasteland 2's sound track and art book weren't part of TTON's rewards even in $750 tier (which was also tier I backed it), only DRM-free digital copy of the game and digital game manual.

That is true but then why are they part of the regular retail version? Digital Deluxe I understand, but regular? And then going back and actually removing the wallpapers from my crappy KS version after they were initially part of it? And that wasn't really the issue, I was prepared to pay for the digital deluxe upgrade and I did....only to find I don't actually have the digital deluxe....that I'm still missing chunks of content. Arguing technicalities is not the way to keep my loyalty. After they said GOG would fix the issue I pledged $50 more but now I'm losing my patience.

so inxile told you they forked their problem off on GOG.com and you gave them more money?  i understand that inxile probably paid the extra to upgrade your copy to the standard retail version, but it doesn't always work this way.  they may have just told GOG.com that under contract they have to eat the cost.  (most of the manufacturer's warranties are like this, but i hope that inxile is better than this)

Yeah, dumb idea, I thought that "hey, maybe they're decent people after all and they listen".....but so far they haven't fixed anything, not for me at least, another user on GOG said they upgraded his KS edition to the regular retail one but so far GOG hasn't responded to me and it's been days.....we'll see what happens.

  4. Better not be linked to steam or there will be mad interwebz rage (me included!)

They replied to me and said the physical version won't be steam and patches plus future content will be available through the backer portal. They said the digital copy for GOG s game-only with the additional digital bonuses available through the backer portal too but I'm waiting on clarification on whether the copy of the game can be upgraded on GOG, especially since the majority of their backers are at very basic tiers that won't have much, if anything, in the way of digital bonuses, so we'll see if they say anything or if they intend to go down the path of plain not caring and making people decide between buying the game over again in a Deluxe package and just plain not being able to ever get any of the bonuses past release.

  5. I was quite pleased with the D:OS experience actually. Besides, the game is entirely DRM free, regardless of platform. Updates through Steam, thus far, have been the most streamlined I have experienced yet. I get the hate for the monolithic giant, but the experience is quite good :p

Steam is never DRM-free and there are severe privacy concerns to even installing Steam on your PC and agreeing to their EULA.....that said, the game can be played without issue offline without needing to deal with Steam at all once installed and all that.....but Steam IS DRM and that will never change. I and many others want absolutely nothing to do with Steam no matter what and for good reasons.

Besides updates through GOG are quick and painless, no different to Steam but without Steam sticking their nose in my business.

  6. During the KS campaign for Divinity:Original Sin, Larian studios announced the physical copy would be tied to Steam but that backers could opt for a non-Steam physical version if they wanted. Obsidian hasn't said anything at all about the physical copy being tied to Steam as far as I can recall. With that in mind, I would assume the same as Jarmo that Obs will host patches and content on their site and/or other sites.

As to the digital copy on GOG, I see this as a valid concern, but I personally assume it will be the same as your physical copy - i.e. a Collectors or Deluxe edition (depending what they end up calling the digital version). My assumption would be it would include all the digital content that you'd get with the physical edition you pledged for. But yeah, clarification on this would be welcome although I think with the issues that occurred with GOG and Wasteland 2 that you outlined, it would be logical to think they may have learned something from that. Hopefully.

DOS was a mess....the Steam for discs was announced horribly late, pretty much when they went in production....and the DRM  free opt-out even later after quite a few backers went ballistic on Larian over it and the DRM-free options were hideously delayed....I don't think those shipped until like a month after release or something. VERY poor choice of example here....or a very good one depending on how you look at it.

I agree with the whole second part of your comment.

  7. I assumed the physical copy of the game on dvd would be the game itself. Put the dvd in your drive and it would install. No codes and DRM Free. If there's patches, I'd assume we can download the patch as an exe file and run it like we could with the old IE games.

Yeah but every other KS I kept track of has changed their disc versions to Steam because it's convenient, I believe Wasteland 2 discs are also Steam unless I'm mistaken.

  8. I did read your OP, but your reply to me specifically referenced obtaining future updates/patches.  I did not address your concerns regarding the "handling" of different versions of the game as I didn't have an answer.  My original post also wasn't aimed at you, I was answering the post I quoted. Just saying.

I said it didn't answer the pressing questions about obtaining patches/content.....in the context of the physical copy. And the handling of the digital copies....I didn't think you'd get the two mixed up or start thinking that I need DRM clarification in that regard. Hell to quote myself here: "Then there's the digital copy of the game in my tier which I can select for GOG, which would be perfect for all intents and purposes......"

  9. It also says the extra digital copies are DRM free.  Update #4 says that the digital DRM free version will be through GOG.  I would assume that means the DRM free physical versions will also allow you to register the game on GOG which will give you all the patches, ugrades, etc. through their service.

Just an assumption on my part though.  In the end, I doubt OE will abandon those who bought physical copies.  If they don't come to an arrangement with GOG, they also have the option of requesting Paradox to host the patches.

You completely failed to understand my concerns about the digital copy which unlike the physical had nothing to do with DRM or getting patches/content. You might want to actually read the opening post.....just saying.

  10.

Good points. If the physical copy of the collector's edition ends up being a Steam version, I'm going to be severely disappointed - I pledged for the physical copy to really, actually own the game, and Steam would be the opposite of that.

I share your concerns for the different versions on different platforms and patches as well.

In Update #19 the description of all the physical rewards states that the game is DRM free.  I don't think that has changed.

But that doesn't answer the most pressing question of obtaining future content/patches and the handling of the digital copies.

  11. Anyone know this? Or any chance I can still pledge?

No, but if you head to the following link you'll see they're saying "Preorders coming soon" and my guess would be that there will indeed be a CE for non-backers.....but it's hard to say if it will be the same or not....the content and the box could end up being different.

Only rewards that are missing compared to Digital Classic Edition are sound track, concept art book and wall paper package (that in my understanding are same that you get from game's homepage). Version which you get free with T:ToN and probably with PoE is same that people that backed Wasteland 2 with $15 dollars get. Version that has sound track and art book cost backers $30 (although this included two copies of the game and some KS only portraits) .

Yeah....except I got the bloody copy as part of a $750 TTON pledge and the soundtrack and artbook are a pretty bloody big deal to me....sure I could buy them separately but I felt like they were abusing my kindness at this point....the least they can do is ensure I have the regular retail version and it's not so much that it's hard to find those wallpapers, it's the fact they went out of their way to remove them from the KS version that adds insult to injury.

  14. Thanks for the information, but I already checked that. As far as I'm concerned, my 'Oddity Collectors Edition' does not include a Wasteland 2 copy. I think it's a bit stupid given that I got my Wasteland 2 key from PoE at the same money threshold, and that the digital versions of TToN cost much less and also include a wasteland 2 key.

I think it's demented that after I pledged at the $750 tier for TTON plus a bunch of addons I needed to have a conversation with them about why my Wasteland 2 key is not even the regular edition they are selling to everyone else but a completely stripped copy they aren't even selling at retail at all....they even went as far as to take out wallpapers that you can find with a google search.....after quite a few back and forths of them trying to blame GOG and statements of what was promised they eventually told me GOG would make the Digital Deluxe Upgrade bring the sham edition on level with the proper Digital Deluxe but if that's true GOG are sure taking their time.

Sure they didn't promise me extras but damn, the least they could do is ensure I have the regular retail version I can upgrade to the digital deluxe without missing half the content and I'm in the top 1% of their backers.....I call that common courtesy.

Oh boy.....you all are going to be pissed when you see the "Kickstarter Edition" that your GOG code will entitle you to.....

I'm confused, which edition are you talking about? You obviously don't have a key from PoE as they are not released yet, so is this some kind of version from the TToN kickstarter? In particular, how much bloody money do you have to throw at Inxile to have access to a wasteland key? Is buying the physical collectors edition not enough?

I'm a bit sad that I can't play it this weekend. I've spent quite some money on both PoE and TToN, and I can't access wasteland from both sites. I do hope they'll release PoE on time on GoG, because my physical copy surely won't reach me at the release date.

From TTON side go here: https://torment.inxile-entertainment.com

If your pledge has a copy of wasteland 2 ensure you have your tier/add-on selected under your Account -> Rewards and then you can click on "manage Keys"......but prepare to be disappointed if you care about extras like art, soundtrack, novels/lore, etc. You get the sham edition. Don't expect better edition from PoE Wasteland 2 code.

  16. WUT? Does the edition let you play the game? That's all that matter as that was offered us who back PE to the level that gave us WL2. All that extra crap wasn't promised.

*shrug* Maybe not promised but I still expected the "normal" retail edition and to be at least able to upgrade to the Digital Deluxe....I didn't back their asses for over $800 on TTON and then bought the Digital Deluxe Upgrrade so they can pull these kinds of shenanigans on me when it came to the Wasteland 2 copy that was part of that tier.

  17. Oh boy.....you all are going to be pissed when you see the "Kickstarter Edition" that your GOG code will entitle you to......hint, hint: it's not for sale and has nothing more than the manual and a map....they had three ****ty wallpapers on there as a bonus but they were removed. Buying the Digital Deluxe Upgrade won't help much as you'll still be missing half the content of the real digital deluxe although inXile said(in a PM conversation I had with them) this will be fixed for those upgrading from the KS edition via the upgrade.....I'll believe it when I see it.

  18. The topic of this thread is a PM I wrote to Obsidian on KS but I'm also looking for the thoughts of other backers on this topic, the way the digital copies were handled for some Wasteland 2 backers has prompted me to rise a few questions and concerns about this whole matter:

I have some concerns about how the physical and digital copies of the game are going to work out. I pledged at the $140 physical CE level of the game and the way other KS campaigns are going I'm afraid the physical copy is going to be Steam, is this correct? If it's not Steam or if there's an option for it not to be Steam will there be any way to get patches, the expansion and other future content for it?

Then there's the digital copy of the game in my tier which I can select for GOG, which would be perfect for all intents and purposes, but what kind of digital copy is it? Is it a bare bones copy of the game or will it be a Digital Deluxe kind of thing?

I'm asking because I'm afraid I'll end up in a bad spot with this like I did with Wasteland 2(which I got from my Torment pledge). You see, when I secured that copy I assumed it would be a "normal" or "regular" copy of the game that I could buy the Digital Deluxe Upgrade for and all would be fine but as it turns out that wasn't the case...."normal" copies of the game for KS backers were a special hell on GOG as they practically had nothing to them, they were even stripped of the three crappy wallpapers and the game is not even sold like that to anyone on GOG. Buying the Digital Deluxe upgrade for it only left it with half of the content of the Digital Deluxe everyone got when buying it on GOG because the other half goes with the regular, non-deluxe, copy everyone who buys it from the site gets.....this led to me having a bitter and quite long conversation with inXile and it looks like this situation was created by GOG and they are trying to fix it.

So after all that rant my big question is: will I be facing this predicament with the digital copy of Pillars of Eternity or will I be able to properly upgrade it to the Digital Deluxe or will the code be for the Digital Deluxe to start with or will I get screwed with a copy of the game that has its own special hell?

  19. Unfortunately the only kid I've ever not gotten on the first day was the one in the sewer you can't get to until the second day - which makes me think they had to know you oculdn't complete it in one day (heck I suppose you might not even trigger it until day 2) so I think its a bug upon reflection. Still can't guess what you can do to fix it...

Actually you can get him on the 1st day and I HAVE got him on the first day because he is immediately on the right after you go down the ladder from the street level before you have to use the alien probe to teleport across the gap. Getting that kid is the only thing you can do in the sewers in the 1st day.

  20. Well it does seem strange I agree; I don't really think its intentional but I guess it could be. Unfortunately I'm not sure what else to suggest at this point.

You'd think the kindergardners don't sleep outside overnight so it makes sense for the quest to be missable but if the others stay in their places this might be a bug.....still not sure though because A LOT of stuff is missable as per game design, not bugs.....chinpokomon, other side quests, weapons, armor, friends....etc.
