  1. McClure and Sylkk, the 1.03 patch fixes being able to have both quests at once. However, the fix that resolves the problem retroactively (for save games where the quests were already accepted) is slated for 1.04 patch (it required extra testing, as it entailed reorganizing some dialogues' structures and that's something we rather handle with extra care).

In the meantime, if you've made either the Dozens or the Knights hostile then Webb will give you the invitation. There's no need to anger all factions for this to happen - as long as you have one of the factions' main quests (the second one they give you) then having made said faction hostile will work for now.

In your cases, since you've got the quests for both the Dozens and Knights, angering any of them will make Webb support you in the hearings.

Still, this is not the ideal situation until the retroactive fix is tested thoroughly but I hope that can get you going without much RPing sacrifice.

Thanks for the update, but I'll wait until I can side properly with the Knights :)

Just making sure: I hope that after 1.04 COMPLETING the second quest of a faction will cause siding with it, and not just ACCEPTING it. I also kinda hoped that we'll be able to steal the weapons from Bronze and give it to the Knights, but I'm just being a bit greedy here :p

  2. McClure, accepting the quest sufficed to cause the problem. As I've mentioned elsewhere, we've fixed it for an upcoming patch.

Until that arrives, the workaround entails turning each faction hostile before speaking with Webb or loading a save game made before having both Winds of Steel and Bronze Beneath the Lake at once. I know that's probably of little consolation, folks, but I wanted to share just in case it helps someone in the meantime.

My game updated and I went to check with Clyver. Still gives me the "your relationship with the Dozens" speech and shoos me away.

  3. I want to thank everyone for the additional info and files.

We've narrowed down the issue, which involves getting Winds of Steel from the Crucible Knights while having been already "committed" to help either the Dozens or Doemenels, and we'll include the fix for this soon (likely going into the next patch).

This issue was unrelated to what affected eRe4s3r's game (resolved already in the upcoming patch), but this thread alerted us to the additional problem.

Thank you again for your help and patience, folks.

    Jorge.

Does this mean that accepting (but not completing!) The Bronze Beneath the Lake won't block us from continuing the Knights' quest chain?

  4. I hit this and worked around it by editing the conversation for clyver.

    in Pillars of Eternity\PillarsOfEternity_Data\data\conversations\02_defiance_bay_first_fires\02_cv_clyver_rimgund.conversation

around line 2338 is the block for text node 54.   What we'll do is let you access this even after he's said no before.  This block has no check for relationship with the dozens, presumably because if the dozens like you he says no immediately, while if you're in hte middle of his quests he will say to ask later which is what this block is for.

Anyway, a bit further down, starting line 2406, there are ExpressionComponent blocks.  You need to remove the entire block to do with the refused variable.  I can't copy paste it because I deleted from mine and like a daring rebel (with a very fast internet connection to redownload the game) I didn't keep a back up copy.

The same principle should apply to the other groups if you prefer them but I don't know the nodes you would need to modify.

Sounds cool, but I'm not a big fan of messing with a game's code :(

  5. This is my first post in this forum in years, and I've only come back here because I'm angry too :(

Obsidian, make factions resent us because of the things we've DONE, not the things we MIGHT DO. Making the Knights stop cooperating because we merely accepted a quest is not fair and hinders role play. I actually intended to steal those weapons (from The Bronze Beneath the Lake) and bring them to the Knights (I actually suspected I might be able to do that), so now instead of supporting my favourite faction I'm locked out of it.

  6. Many years back Obsidian staff was quite talkative, nowadays not so much. Even the Big Cheese dropped into the forums and talked to us lower pawns.

You're lucky today if you get a developer saying "W00t I like dat horse armor too!" comment. I.E. Non-informative, useless stuff.

    any guesses what changed?
  7. Yes, I think it is safe to presume that Torn, as it was supposed to be, is gone. But from what I read, New Vegas borrows A LOT of its ideas, concepts and names from Van Buren (RIP), so hope is still there :)

Do Obsidian employees sometimes comment in the forum and/or answer questions?

  8. Hello everybody.

I'm an old fan of Black Isle's work, and think that the new Obsidian games are the best contemporary CRPGs out there (and yes, you do not fool me with your new name, guys. BI's touch is so obvious everywhere).

While googling for other BI/Obsidian games, I found an unfamiliar name: Torn.

I'm curious to know if there is any chance that at any point in the future Obsidian will try and complete this old project, or did the idea die with the name of Black Isle?
