We have to discuss something very important... Cats. Indeed, in a cryptic way, Adam answered my question about : "If we reach Big City 2, what'll come next?". Some ideas were said by a few of us until Adam revealed that -someone- that I do not remember the name of, said that it would be at " Four millions" "Cats, cats everywhere" and that we'll "[you'll] see when we get there".
Well, here we are my friends, we indeed reached the last stretch goal of 4 millions. So, what do you think, stray cats, domestic cats, companion cats, special kickstarter spell "Summon Swarm of Cats", feline race, Bastet-like religion...?
Or maybe we were trolled!
No furry-bait, please. Let WoW and TES keep it to themselves.

Is it really an Easter Egg if it was planted, in public, by the people who are supposed to be searching for it?
-
It was linked on 4chans /v/ideogames board, which even the rest of that hive of scum and villany finds pretty loathsome.
/v/ is responsible for most of the misogyny gaming news stories (tropes v. women, jennifer hepler, etc.)

I should be studying for architecture, but I'm playing Borderlands 2. Maybe reconsidering my major. Switch to loot-taker or something.
I'm in one of those moods where nothing is good after playing Mask of the Betrayer. Tried Max Payne out for a couple hours and I'm getting a little bored. Tried Divinity Divinity out for a couple minutes before getting bored.
TPS down. RPG down. Maybe I should give adventure games a shot. I like adventure games.
Telltale's Walking Dead? Or do you want more of the classic "stupid puzzles that have no logical congruity whatsoever" type of adventure game?

Any one of those games has an ironclad 10/10 for soundtrack. Might be easier on you guys to hear it like this:

What happened? I missed it.
What happened? I missed it.
I second this.
Many of the uncouth commentors were, shall we say, "smitten," by one of Obsidian's female staffers.
An odd way to phrase it for a man with an avatar of the helm of a 7th century Saxon king, who would no doubt have been far more misogynistic.
Most of it was people shrieking (caps lock) their locations, and others responding to the trend by claiming to be in unlikely/non-real locations. And also quoting Chris Avellone who spent most of the stream drinking heavily and screaming "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" at such a volume that it inflicted pain upon many an ear.

Personally, I'd see Health be determined by level only, or maybe attribute only, regardless of class, whereas Stamina would be determined by Endurance/Constitution/etc. as well as Class.
How do you deal with magical/spiritual classes in that scenario? It takes physical training to improve physical attributes. You don't become stronger and able to run farther, faster, by reading books.

CRPGs have been dead as a genre since the early 2000s if you don't count Dragon Age (and you shouldn't as of DA2.)

I think it's a given that all backers and sideline supporters want quality from PE. Why would anyone want PE to play like an MMO?
-
I'd personally like to see the term dungeon restricted to places of imprisonment and parts of brothels where you can pay for unusual services.
-
It's plausible but shouldn't be a priority. I don't want the Obsidian community to become a waifu wars board like Bioware's.
-
Not really. I couldn't afford above the $20 early adopter tier, so economics locked me out. I am distraught that I am unable to acquire more physical goods to affirm my otherwise meaningless existence.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that the gist of the first few tl;dr posts is "I want to make my character look super unique and cool so all of the ZERO OTHER PLAYERS in the game can see I'm a special snowflake and not just an NPC." Which is odd considering it's an isometric game where your characters are likely to be low-detail compared to waifu simulators like Oblivion and Skyrim.
Don't get me wrong, I like to make my characters look the way I want, but it's not the most important thing in the game. Besides, with Obsidian signing on with the *shudder* Nexus modding network, you'll no doubt get more opportunities than you ever thought imaginable to customize your (female) characters. Making your waifu look like a tramp should not be a priority for the Obsidian dev team.

You should be told the first quest is to vanquish mighty "giant" rats infesting the (insert tutorial locale here) but then you just walk across them and they splatter, quest complete!
And on the subject of Dishonored's rats, that proved that rats are OP and gamebreaking.

I've got a growing list in my mind of stuff I'd like to see oblique references to in the game from the KS campaign (especially after watching the live stream today)
1. "Green shirt girl"
2. the word, "wooooooooooooo"
3. lots and lots of vodka
I've got more, but what do you think would be funny/cool/witty/whatever?
Drunk Chris Avellone drinking alcohol in every pub screaming "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! DRINKS ARE ON ME!" and then everyone tells him to take his shirt off and he doesn't.

Hello,
I was watching this
the other day, where Tim Cain talks about movies, books, and other sources of inspiration for the first Fallout. I wanted to make a topic thread for everyone here and ask you, "What IMAGES you find inspiring your thoughts on Project Eternity?"I wanted to know what images you find yourself thinking about when imagining what the Project Eternity world to be, and I wanted you to post them here. Try to keep the text to a minimum and keep the picture sizes small (linking to them would be better). I wanted this to be a sort of "flipbook" for the devs to look at as inspirations for their own creativity when creating this world. Obviously, pictures you've taken yourself would be better than images you've taken from someone else.
so... show them your pictures! Throw something up whenever it inspires you about something you know about the PE lore!
This is, for example, what I thought of when Josh Sawyer was talking about the Vailians.
Ancient Egypt is not the vibe I get from Vailians. It sounds like a mix of ancient Carthage (a contemporary of ancient Rome, and a mercantile state ruled by council of merchants,) and ancient Greece (a bunch of city-states that allied when mutually endangered, several of which were naval powers.) The government is obviously modeled on the Iroquois Confederacy. And evidence for slave labor in ancient Egypt is thin. There's strong physical and written evidence that the workers who built the great Pyramids and other monuments were working in lieu of paying taxes for a given period of time. The Egyptians were not a "great" seafaring people, and there's no evidence of piracy or shanghaiing that I'm aware of, because the Nile valley is immensely fertile (leading to large populations,) and all of their wars were with neighboring countries over land toward the East.

No scaling. That's just another form of casual hand-holding. There's no greater thrill in combat than winning an encounter that's above your level and reaping the rewards for it.
-
Yeah, well, unless you're offering me a better job, tough luck. Also the kickstarter is over TEE HEE.
-
I started thinking Chris Avellone might have a drinking problem.

Josh Sawyer put it best on formspring: do wheelies around the office and say you know a lot about D&D.

I like the compositions, but Tri-Ace has always used weird synth choices.

*ctrl+f* "metabolism" zero results.
Here's why potions suck. Metabolism. Even if it were fast acting, something ingested through the mouth would still take 15-20 minutes to take effect at the minimum. If it's some magic wound healer, you slap it on the wound, you don't drink it. Tourniquets and bandages stop bleeding, stitches bind cuts and the body's natural healing process mends the wound. It's fine if soul powers accelerate the natural healing process, but remedies shouldn't be ingested and instantaneously effective.

Races are overdone. Use heredity like in reality, abandon the sorts of racial stereotyping that has plagued RPGs since D&D. You know how many kids in elementary school bragged about being 1/16th cherokee? A lot. Let's have people running around saying stuff like that, true or not.
Magic rings - being allowed to wear more than one
in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Posted
One ring on each hand should have no penalty, and you get exponentially larger dexterity penalties for each additional ring, up to the point that you need your companions to add or remove them as your fingers are essentially frozen in place. Also incapable of carrying weapons or using items.
