  1. By other platforms I meant the various consoles. When console games start doing the same you can either put up with it or not. Ranting on the internet about it is not going to change that. It will make you feel better. The Internet is everyone's hole on the ground to scream the things nobody wants to hear about.
  2. True, but if it shows any sing of being effective it may become popular and then: GAMING DYSTOPIA
  3. It was obvious (to me at least) that DLC would be path chosen to encourage buying, as is obvious now that some publishers are going to go to extremes to protect and ensure the success of their product. The question here is, does this actually hurt their market? Myself, I will think twice before purchasing a game that requires me to send personal information. I hope that they limit their actions to just this, otherwise it may come to a point where is detrimental to themselves.
  4. It's the minimum to complete.
  5. It can't be so bad, I mean if Krogan males have three testicles maybe the women have three something (Total Recall)
  6. Speaking of which, does anyone knows if they finally show Turian or Krogan women? I get it that they are both patriarchal societies, but two 20 hours average games and not a single woman!
  7. Well they are disappointing but not exactly a substantial reason to complain. But the fact that a whole game is boiled down to sex scenes is.
  8. I'm throughly disappointed with these love scenes, whatever happened to Mass Effect: Sex simulator?
  9. I'm sorry, I thought this thread was about ME. Could we get back to talking about hot alien on alien action?
  10. Oh no way is it months. I'm fairly sure they said Shepherd has been believed dead for about 2 years. And I can't remember how long it was he "died" after the events of ME1 He dies on months when the disappearances start and stays two years when Messianic figure Shepard (I'm I the only one getting this vibe from the guy) comes back. But I'm not sure may have to double check.
  11. Several years later? How much exactly? My thoughts exactly, there is only a couple of months between ME and ME2. Although I suppose that time is relative, a galactic week is an hour (I think) so it is possible; maybe. But I'm reading too much into this, nonsensical comic book plot is a hallmark of the series it seems.
  12. Correction. This is how Tali looks under the hood. http://www.mainframe.cl/mf/imagenes/fantasia/species0.jpg
  13. EA says: I am the game, you don't wanna play me I am control, no way you can shake me I am heavy debts, no way you can pay me I am the pain, and I know you can't take me
  14. What for? I never need to take a breath in between my rants But while we are on the subject: I find it interesting that greater marketing leads to more sales rather than critical acclaim; based EEDAR's accounts. So is no surprise that EA is pushing this game forward and trying to expand Bioware's fan base, since they had to close up shop on many studios and put a lot of their new IPs on the back burner. Again, corporate pressure to play it safe and go with what is guaranteed to sell.
  15. I'm going to disagree with you here, even though your reason may be valid and true I find it to be too vague, since it fails to account the process and models of gamemaking. Games; even though they are at an advanced state are still young, it is not until these recent years when story has become a central part of games. The formulas for writing story games are still growing and finding their own language, plus there is the constant corporate element and from that perspective the "sell what works" formula. So if a story works why risk with something completely new; to draw a comparison here with the movie industry I would say that they both suffer from the same ailment of blockbusting and doing something merely for the sake of sales. While this on itself is not an assurance of a lower level of storytelling, some blockbusters have great storyline; there is the fact that innovation is kept to a minimum regarding the formulas. I would put the Independent and Indie world of cinema as where the innovation truly is, and while it may not always be a success it is still a try and a source of results. This is the same for games indie games is where the innovation is; the great difference is that games are interactive and that is their main focus, story falls second to that. There is also the issue of length, the time it takes a game to develop a story and connect the gamer to the characters is more than 2 hours at a minimum and this just a guesstimate. This leaves a lot of black spots on the story relating to a character; times where the writer is at a loss, has hit a wall and this is where the true and tries formulas and structures come to the rescue. On the part of the gamer, is hard to make someone try a radically innovative game (most people don't have the time); most of the tech and structure is based on previous and mostly unknown games, so to push that at AAA title would be a greater risk. Because it hasn't been tried, because there is no feedback, and because there is the potential for great loss I think that they stick with "tried and done" rather than going with "radical innovation". IMO this loop is the result of this rather than lack of effort or talent on the developers' side.
  16. The same almost every other rpg dev feels. Any dev in their right mind would love to have that sort promotion for their game. Perhaps is time for TV producers to take note and draw some ideas for gaming shows that focus on these AAA titles and rising games. I mean the gaming industry is a multimillion dollar industry i'm sure that some mainstream promotion wouldn't hurt them, plus is a great way to finally bring gaming culture out of it's community and open it to the world.
  17. First I say that agree with you and ask; in your opinion, what place should sex have on NPC interactions? Regarding ME2, my expectations lay with the carry over relationship from the first game, here is to hoping it will be more than a moment of reminiscence.
  18. Yeah, I agree completely. But wait a minute.. is this a forum? If this is a forum, then that means there's words here somewhere.. words? WORDS! NJAAARGH words! words everywhere, I'm in hell! Please somebody kill me now! Happy to comply. *Stab you in the neck with a pen *Death by Cyanide *Slow and Painful torture Choose!
  19. Indeed. Nothin escapes this girl. I was kidding back there (mostly) but since you seem so keen on the subject of video game relationships here is what I have to say on it. Actually, I was pretty much satisfied with the fade to black approach of BGII since the romance (Jaheira) that led up to that point was fulfilling. The "sex" was just a part of it, and to be frank - the least important part (I had no idea that there would in fact be sex, and I didnt care). With Mass Effect they "introduced" sex (visually), but there was no emotional attachment to the potential love interests at all. When there's nothing satisfying about the romance it becomes a game of choose-the-right-answer-to-get-in-my-pants. Since I'm not expecting anything better of ME2, I want the reward for the minigame to be a bit more interesting, (read: naked women) not a family friendly sex scene. In short: since they dont give a toss for my appreciation of an engaging romance, they might as well appeal to my base instincts. This desire comes out of the very very low expectations I have for this game, and their future games. I've nothing against exploring more relationships and pushing the limits of the sex taboo in computer games, as long as it doesnt tarnish the core playing experience (by being lackluster in some way). What I dont want to see is them putting in sex just because the Witcher is doing is, and because it sounded like a very "mature" idea at the time - and then when they finally shoehorn it in somehow it turns out to be meh. An unfulfilling relationship followed by unfulfillling sex is a lose-lose situation. (in life as well, lol) An engaging relationship followed by tasteful and graphic sex is a win-win situation. But if I had to pick just one of those, it would always be an engaging relationship, (Jaheira, Deionarra, Fall-from-Grace ) simply because of the role play potential. Hear, hear! Listen Bio - learn from Witcher! Give us b00bie cards! Seconded
  20. If is not Clint Mansell or Ennio Morricone i'm not interested.
  21. Sega must have high expectations for this game since they are already making the sequel; possible reason for the delay, they should focus on the first game before starting on a sequel. I mean what if it plummets?
  22. Don't know why, but I keep thinking that romance with Subject Zero is the closest thing you can get to banging a husk.
  23. Even if you were right and they did motivate such acts, that still wouldn't be enough reason to forbid them. Beyond the obvious questionable sanity of a man who goes on a killing spree to emulate Grand Theft Auto, there is the actual fact that fictional works have been the motives behind some of the most notorious killing sprees of days past. Plus this is without accounting the enormous body count on the name of religious fanaticism, yet the source of inspiration is not blamed because they do not have any source of control over the individual.
