  1. EtienneCaradas -- Yes, It's the same door I was talking about.  The one you have to swim a bit to get to. It was still opened for me in my game.

Then, there's an inner door with a scanner, & that leads to the lab with all the infected mites, larva and a ladybug. Across that lab area is another scanner that you need to activate to get into the small inner lab (with the chip).

I had already been in there and collected the chip. I went back across the lab and into that inner lab (that door was still open) to see if there were new items since the update (lots of the smaller lab areas have new "nuggets" or a treasure chest).

After I left the inner lab, I had to kill the ladybug in order to get that original outer door to open again, even tho it showed green.

BUT -- if you can't get that door opened with the lever, then I think it's definitely a glitch and different from what I had in my game.

  2. Had a similar situation in my game.

The outer door into the locked area was open, and I used the scanner to open the 2nd (inner) door. There was only an infected Ladybug inside the main lab area. I went across that area and grabbed what was new in the inner lab (door was already unlocked/open). But, when I recrossed the lab to exit, the 1st (outer) door was now locked (light above was "green").  Scanners did nothing.  I finally turned back and killed the ladybug (which seemed to be a bit "stuck"), and then that door did open. Can you get in to the 1st (outer lab) area & try to kill all of the bugs?

  3. Yep, seeing the same thing today, first time I've played since the "Homestretch" update.

Piles of Weevil meat & many noses, mostly around the toadstool mushrooms but also a lot in the "Mystery Machine" area -- I also came across a pile of grub hides & "goop" under the Oak Tree (at least 6 of each item)

Not really complaining ... instead I'm taking advantage and have multiple drying racks going at my 2 main bases right now. But I'm definitely not going to try for a weevil "pet" any time soon!

  4. After "fixing" the haze area - I've been encountering Infected Ladybugs, along with accompanying infected gnats, larva and mites in unexpected areas, These Ladybugs are often in pairs.  Ran into a group on the far side of the pond (in the dry grass area between the stink bugs and the pond net). Also have a pair rampaging under the picnic table right now with much destroyed grass. Not sure if this is intended, or a glitch ... not a big problem, just making note.

  5. My game just updated again ... Yay!

The thistles came back for me this morning (I ran all over & grabbed a ton, just in case) and now the huge piles of cut down grass & weed stems (not stored on pallets) that were not de-spawning around my main base are gone! Much neater!

Have not yet seen if the cut-down grass has stopped re-growing inside the buildings after having been fully cut down. Hopefully has also been fixed.

Played WAY too much today - enjoying the game again, now that I'm getting the hang of the new gear and figuring out tactics ... it's still a lot of fighting, but at least I'm not dying every two minutes!

    -- Thanks! 😊

  6. I'm not sure how fast the decay is. Armor & a few weapons that I had stored before the update seemed to be degraded quite a bit on start-up -- but newer items I've made aren't losing stats that quickly. Tried to find a chart or more info on this, without much luck.

It was a little discouraging when I first saw what had happened. I tend to be both proactive and a little bit of a hoarder (in Real Life too) so I have many, many chests full "just in case", may change my strategy a bit now.

Hang in there  -- they've already fixed some things that were messed up (like the missing thistles and the non-despawning grass piles). It's clear that the Grounded team takes community input & concerns seriously & I definitely appreciate that!

  7. It's definitely regrowing for me, both on older builds and new builds.

I even removed several foundations and cut down the "nubs" and the grass still came back.

However, in some places inside my main base, the cut grass appears, but when you swipe at it with an axe, it just fades away, does not drop planks.

Speaking of grass planks (and weed stems) -- they are not disappearing from my yard after many days -- I have a pile that has at least 40 grass planks and 10 or so weed stems and they are still just laying there. They are not on storage pallets, just in a big, sloppy pile!

  8. Just noticed this morning - Had 3 pieces of meat on the jerky rack, one was finished so I replaced it with a fresh aphid. Came back a bit later and all 3 pieces were gone.

Tried it again with a new piece, left & closed the door then immediately came back into the room and it was gone as well.

    =================================

Update -- I figured this out -- it was Ants! I did not realize they were getting into the room through an open door. (they ate one of my granola bars too!)

  9. I really do like the game overall and look forward to further expansions and updates; but I am sad that these last 2 have been so disappointing to me.

I think it's mostly that my focus is on quests, puzzles and exploration, rather than constant fighting (and the subsequent dying).  Creative mode is not the answer, I just wish for something in between, a true "mild" setting.

Oh BTW -- I did not notice the degradation of items in storage chests until you mentioned it. I am now even more unhappy; those 3 extra gas masks I pro-actively crafted and stored close to the Haze zone are now at 50% and quickly heading to useless.  What's the point of that? It's makes no real sense ... storage chests are there for a reason! This feels like a punishment for those who take time to collect and craft armor & other items ahead of time, rather than last minute scrambling.

Just another ding in the enjoyment factor.

  10. Unfortunately, you have probably lost everything that's in the rock - whenever you build anything in a "game in progress" it's one of the risks you take, but it is a bummer.

I lost most of a multi-level base in the Koi pond update with blooming dandelions. Luckily, I was able to salvage my storage chest inventories; but furnishings like the dew collector, drying rack, workbench and the bed were toast, plus any walls or floors that were compromised as well. Thank goodness you can move furniture now, but back then it all just had to be recycled.

  11. I realize that established bases may have troubles with this sort of thing when there's an update (yeah, it is a pain to have to move things & destroy elevated floors so that you can drop down to figure out where the grass and weeds are regrowing, but at least you CAN move the furniture now).

However, I'm finding regrowth in & around my NEW base (I made a staircase going up to the picnic table bench & started a minimal base on top). I thought that I cut the grass and dry grass stumps down completely before starting the steps, but it's growing up through them again - it is possible that I missed a few, so I've cut everything down again to check. (that's if I decide to play again, kinda bummed at this point)

  12. I agree with so much of this! However, I am looking at it thru the eyes of a casual, single player who wants a challenge but not an exercise in futility. I've actually been discouraged since the update with the Broodmother; when wandering thru previously safe areas (including one of my favorite bases) became a nightmare. I do understand that Grounded is geared more  towards multi-player, & perhaps playing with 2 or 3 more experienced players would help, but that's not how I prefer to play (esp. not with unfamiliar people).

I tried to post a LONG thread on this yesterday, but it did not go thru (or maybe it has to be allowed by a moderator, since I am a relatively new member here).

I'll just add a few comments from what I tried to post, hope that's okay.

I do not want to play what is essentially a first-person shooter -- there are plenty of those out there.  I also do not want to play in "creative" mode; with absolutely no challenge, no quests and no reason to collect and explore.

I think it has been suggested before that there could be sliders to choose the intensity of attacks and amounts/types of enemies? Maybe a mode where all insects (including larvae & those dang mosquitoes) do not attack unless attacked first or when defending their immediate (very small area) home territory.

The Haze Lab areas, and to a lesser extent, the new Sandbox, are unpleasant & practically unplayable (for me). Having to return to my main base over and over to restock arrows, repair armor & make bandages/health items, only to go back and die, die again --- that is not fun!

Turned the game off yesterday in frustrated disappointment.

*Note --I am finding quite a few crow feathers, but have not seen any respawn of those (did not play long enough) -- There are NO thistles tho, so forget making those sorely needed new arrows. Boo!

*Note 2* -- I am wondering if the game is pushing the player(s) to make bombs - there are many places where these would be helpful, and some where they are essential.

  13. Love the idea of crickets and music (altho', they would be really scary in size!)

I think moths may have already been mentioned as an add-on eventually.

In addition to a veggie garden for getting food, it would be nice to be able to plant veggies & even flowers for your base balconies or yards. Not sure how they could be sized properly, since the flowers in the world are so huge. Maybe something similar to the small mushroom sprouts that grow around the big mushrooms?

Would LOVE dragonflies, but I don't think I could ever kill them. (I don't kill aphids, except accidentally - I turn down the quest to kill 10 whenever it pops up)

  14. I am seeing more feathers the past couple of days. Went from finding only 1 feather after weeks of "in-game" time (while actively following the crow to see if any were dropped) to finding 5 in just 2 "days" while playing over this weekend. Have also noticed more fireflies, esp. on the far side of the Koi Pond, between the flower garden and the dandelions.

  15. Have not had this with mosquitoes, but I have had a wolf spider spawn inside/just outside of my base several times (which is also built near the mysterious machine).  I killed one just outside with arrows fired from the 2nd floor balcony and almost immediately had a 2nd one re-spawn on the lower floor. Scary!

  16. I agree with the OP and LadyBugWins.  Playing solo on mild has become too difficult and frustrating. And too intense/scary for younger players. I don't want to play on creative mode. I like the challenge of learning the "safer" pathways and the best places to build. But it's become a constant fight or flight situation, esp. when restarting a new game. I've even dealt with a Wolf Spider suddenly appearing INSIDE one of my established bases! I enjoy the cleverness and unique aspects of this game ... exploration, crafting, building in miniature and I can deal with combat here and there, but the balance is now way off (in other ways as well, like resource drops).

This same sort of problem has caused me to quit other games ... constant attacks and being forced to kill creatures when you'd just prefer to avoid them, unless you absolutely need them for food. Usually it's wolves, not wolf spiders, but the idea is the same. What next?? Zombie Spiders??

Trying to be patient, but the game has been turned off for now.
