  1. It's all very disappointing. At least, the very meagre options you have could allow for complex consequences on how the plot unfolds and how you play the game. On account of having so few possibilities to cover, that is.

    In a Bioware game.

    Right.

  2. Nvidia's next GPU 'Fermi' will have 3 billion transistors, 40% more than the Radeon 5870. This likely means that it will be that much more expensive :(

I would gladly pay even twice the price of Rad 5870 just to experience games the way they were meant to be played.

  3. Sins of a Solar Empire?
Still good, though, but not what she asked for.

As was already mentioned try both Master of Orion titles. From what I remember Space Empires 4 was almost as good. Oh and Fragile Allegiance too

Since we have this topic - did anyone try the recentish Lost Empires: Immortals?

Dungeons & Dragons Online developer Turbine is pursuing legal action against Atari, alleging the publisher of fraud, unjust enrichment, and breach of contract.

The bulk of Turbine's suit seems to revolve around the new D&D: Neverwinter Nights MMO Atari is said to be prepping in conjunction with Champions Online developer Cryptic. Turbine initially licensed the D&D MMO rights from Atari back in 2003.

In short, Turbine says that Atari lied about its "enthusiastic support" for the upcoming free-to-play relaunch of DDO, and then "trumped up" false charges against Turbine "in an effort to extort more money from Turbine, or, alternately, to free itself from its obligations under the contracts in order to clear the way for the launch of its own competing MMO service based on the D&D and Advanced D&D intellectual properties."

  5. Regarding performance - seems that the game will be cpu bound (more here), preview code runs ~25-30 fps on 3Ghz Quad, 4G ram and gtx 285 (max details, 1080p). Lowering the resolution doesn't help much and underclocking cpu sinks the framerate. I'm curious how well will it perform on Nehalem and Deneb though.

  6. -Set during the breakdown of society as emergence of zombies causes widespread panic and disorder.

-Slow, shambling zombies. Spreads like a virus/bite transmission. No, you are not a zombie, that would be stupid.

-Serious examination of a national crisis or natural disaster. Humans and a lack of order are a bigger threat than the undead. Think Hurricane Katrina, Children of Men, Dawn of the Dead NOT Resident Evil, Return of the Living Dead, zombie shooter-type games.

-Game is about survival. Scavenging resources, exploring the area, dealing with other survivors, and managing a
