I haven't done anything, and yes, it can look that bad, it depends on what colour you actually have as your source colour, grey and black are specifically very bad when it comes to dxt compression.

I was just asking because I tried to convert the image and got a better result.

Considering the savings, it does its job well enough. I only dislike when it is used to compress something it was not designed to do, like normal maps. Disgusting artifacts on NWN2 terrain come to mind.

They are a fabulous time sink, but not exactly fun to play.

As for recent games, there aren't any. Otherwise I would recommend both Independence War games. There was also one excellent Star Wars sim released, however the name eludes me.

From the sound of it, they just thought Stardock was getting too big.

They sold their most profitable business, with their games bombing nowadays and with their non-games software revenue steadily declining.

I read somewhere that there is no global switch, instead you have to activate it from menu for every single enemy. Is this true?

According to Fernando Melo, they weren't finished with the high rez textures when the game went gold.

They are probably withholding them to force people to register on social site, same thing they did with DA:O toolset.

The PC version and the PS3 version are on opposite sides of the room, Bio seems to be genuinely trying to cater to different play styles, I'm not sure which I prefer, but I'll sure be purchasing both sku's as a result.

What is the difference between them? I have only tried the ps3 demo.

Out of all forums on Bioware site only NWN1&2 are worth visiting, the rest is filled with hardcore crazies.

Bioware fanbase must be in frenzy now.

Its just a nightly build, not the source code or anything. I doubt the people who were planning on buying the game are gonna go "Oh, guess Ill cancel my preorder and just play this bug-riddled mess right now instead!"

That's what I would do if I had a good enough computer, even if just for the campaign.

My question is a NWN2 one. I have an old savegame from the beginning of Act 3 and I'm wondering if it's really worth finishing since I mainly just want to get to the MotB expansion as I've heard such good things about it! Does knowing the plot of the OC make MotB more enjoyable? Lastly I want to play through as a pureclass Monk...is this a fun build?

The plot in MotB is completely standalone, there are a few references to OC but since you played until Act 3 that's no issue. Never played NWN 2 with a monk class, I finished MotB with Spirit Shaman and Rogue.

You will miss the quality ending of original campaign though.

by the way, anyone know a good source of information on the "black hound project"? (or w/e it's called) I tried asking Josh Sawyer but he never replied

Does anybody know what happened to the site that had all available black hound info? Looks like it's dead...

It's coming for consoles as well, they have already shown the game running on X360.

If they released Witcher 2 for PC only, they would almost assuredly fold.
