  1. I'd write a story about a latecomer to the force, suffering from emotional scars, who is internally in conflict with himself. He joins the Jedi, but it's not long before he flees, unable to excel in his training because he cannot focus well enough. He is too wounded. He returns to his home world, roaming the streets, taking up the role of a peace keeper, using any excuse he can to prove himself, to show his worth by stopping "bad" guys with his Jedi powers. His ego is out of control. Eventually the Jedi find him, realising just how dangerous and bitter he is. They try to disarm him, make him surrender and redeem him, but it doesn't end well...

Dang it... I read that whole post waiting for a punchline and there wasn't one!

Sounds like a good story! Write it! :D

Personally, I can't come up with a plot to save my life, which is why fan fiction works well for me. I can write character fluff all day long, though.

  2. Actually, I think you would. I mean, it's one of the few topics where, no matter how mind-numbingly bad your work is, it's bound to have a loyal following.

Imagine, getting paid for random outbursts of mental diarrhea that take the form of dismal fan-fiction. Only those folks actually manage to convince some editor at LucasBooks to give them the seal of approval. Go figure.

    There's no justice anymore.

Damn, I wish I could get someone to give me money for my dismal fan-fiction... how do you suppose you get that gig? lol

  3. You're probably not going to like this answer, but it was what I found when I first started playing on Vista.

Those "save games" that you can't find when you're running as Admin don't actually exist. It looks like they do. The game thinks they do, but they can't actually write any data to the directory and there aren't any error messages to let you know that. They just don't get written.

You have to run the game as an administrator, otherwise it doesn't work.

  4. I'm so torn about all of this. On one hand, I absolutely hate that we're never going to get the good storytelling that KotOR 3 deserves because of this development.

On the other hand, I enjoy MMO's and I adore Star Wars. The other rumor about this BioWare - LucasArts project was that it was set between Ep III & IV, and I absolutely hated that idea. It's too closed ended.

Having an MMO based on the rebuilding of the Jedi Order / Sith Empire and their possible allying to fight the "True Sith" is pretty much a perfect setting.

Some people say there aren't enough Jedi in that timeframe, but since K2 already set the precedence that there are way more Force sensitive people out there than we previously suspected, that's not true at all.

So yes, I'm torn. I don't want K3 to be an MMO. But I know I'd enjoy playing it if they do a halfway decent job on game mechanics.

  5. I was about to post in this thread yesterday, but I wound up being distracted by something slightly more interesting or something...

Apparently I'm one of those people who procrastinates dull and routine tasks...

Which is entirely obvious by the state of my laundry.

  6. Interesting, you're probably right. Timesinks and moneysinks *are* the great techniques of MMOs.

I'm not about to dismiss the whole formula they've got going right now, since I'm playing Diablo 2 at the moment, but I certainly wouldn't mind seeing more involved and complex combat. I mean, we've had 50 years of melee combat where you just click on the enemy to attack!

More involved and complex combat? Have you played WoW? Have you played PvP WoW? Ok, I play a priest, so that probably changes things a little bit, but combat in WoW is extremely complex. To be really good at it you have to be able to think fast, know how to react quickly and be able to throw everything you've got at your opponent.

The Arena system in WoW is some of the most fun I've had in a game, even if I do suck at it... :D

  7. I injured my butt. I was skating with my daughter (pushing her in a jogger while on rollerblades) and I slowed down to check on her. When I skated alongside, I leaned too hard on one side of the jogger. It started to fall, so I had to right it quickly, but I lost my balance. So the jogger was fine, but I went down hard on my buttocks. It's pretty uncomfortable. I can't really sit, and I've been icing it.

Be careful in the next few weeks lifting things. I did the same thing (fell at the skating rink) and about a week and a half later threw out my back when I was trying to drag my dog across the yard (stupid dog). I'm pretty sure my back went so easily because I'd already injured the sacro-iliac area (pelvis / tailbone, etc.).

  8. That's so disappointing. :( The KotOR franchise's greatest asset was its storytelling, and now they're making a game in a genre that can't have proper stories. Unless they think they can have proper stories in an MMO?

It's just not possible. Soon enough it will be just a race to get to the OMG EPIC L00TZ.

oooohhhhh... violet lightsaber crystals with + 12 agi & int!

    SWEET!

  9. Lady you need to take a real long look in the mirror. You have an addiction. And a gd damned sick one at that.

    p.s post pics plz :p

I do! Though, you can't criticize it until you've tried it... then gone to see it in imax... it was the imax that really got me hooked... I've been trying to get that same high again ever since...

    Here's a picture!

Oh... did you mean of me? lol, I posted one of those once... if you missed it, that's not my problem... :p

  10. I went to see Speed Racer again... this time it's my parent's fault! They made me go with them!

I came out of this movie feeling just as good and just as hyper as I did after the previous seven viewings...

    Speed, it's a helluva drug!

  11. Well, let me explain one thing... a woman is ALWAYS ready to be in a relationship with the man she thinks she wants. Now, the likelihood of that man existing is generally slim to none, depending on the age and maturity of the chick.

so uh... basically that means i wasn't the knight in shining armour she wanted, so that's why she pulled that excuse on me? :ermm:

Oh, damn, now I feel bad...

I think what I was trying to say is that women generally have horribly unrealistic ideas about men until they get older. Maybe she's grown up enough that she realizes what she missed out on now, though!

  12. Well, let me explain one thing... a woman is ALWAYS ready to be in a relationship with the man she thinks she wants. Now, the likelihood of that man existing is generally slim to none, depending on the age and maturity of the chick.

  13. Don't do it, Shryke! She's an ex for a reason!

Ok, maybe it's just my own bad experiences talking, but these things rarely go well. They just f*** you up in the head. Or at least they do me. *sigh*

  14. Why? There really shouldn't have been a KotOR2. The story of KotOR was pretty summed up in KotOR1.

I don't think I even *know* you anymore! Maybe I never did! :p Seriously, though, A New Hope pretty much summed up Star Wars so they should never have made Empire, by that logic... and we all know that Empire is vastly superior to the others.

WOuld one have an effect on the other? They would seem to be products aimed at different markets.

It depends on when they set the KOTOR MMO game. The Old Republic Era is a really long time, so it could not have anything to do with it, or it could try to take over with rebuilding the order.
