Why is this ruining your game? Those are rather pitiful damage numbers, to be honest. It's just hitting a large number of targets and missing like a 1/3 of them on each attack. Blunderbusses are basically shotgun weapons, effective at close quarters and meant for facing large numbers of enemies. If the problem is lack of hp on mobs try the POTD difficulty mod https://www.nexusmods.com/pillarsofeternity2/mods/43

You don't understand the problem. He's one-shotting whole groups without the use of any resource (besides 1 point of Mortification). Because Swift Flurry leads to an endless chain reaction. It doesn't matter how pitiful the damage per hit is - as long as if you get an endless amount of them. The more enemies you can hit the more likely it is to happen. One shot and - boom - everybody is dead.

The probem is that Swift Flurry's bonus attacks can proc other Swift Flurry bonus attacks - and so on.

Also works with Rod + Blast, Kalakoth's Minor Blights, the one unique pollaxe that lets you swirls around, Citzal's Spirit Lance and basically all AoE weapons.

I see what you mean, honestly, I hadn't used Swift Flurry on any character yet. That does sound pretty broken. Also on this note, there is a mod on Nexus that alters Swift Flurry to give an instant recovery on crit instead. Might resolve the issue some have with it temporarily.

Mod can be found here: https://www.nexusmods.com/pillarsofeternity2/mods/54

It's not poorly written lol. Are you saying that you should be able to directly betray her trust by doing the thing she specifically tells you not to do and still resolve peacefully? That makes no sense from a diplomatic standpoint.

This is actually one of the better written dialogue quests in the game, there are several different outcomes all of which are peaceful.

LOL! No - but having played POE (the first 1) to 100% complete and was able to always settle the things that COULD be settled peacefully... It's odd that I tried this quest three times total, and could not figure out how to get this to resolve peacefully for all. I mean there's clearly a way to do it - and that link shows it - which I didn't look it up (I usually do that on a second play through to see what I missed) when I initially played (and tried, three times).

And considering how much I love the story and the world (my obsession of getting POE1 100%) should let you know I am not skimming the text. I am devouring it and taking it all into my brain.

I wasn't really accusing you of anything, just kind of don't understand your reasoning that's all. Like I said, I got it on the first try. I guess you just weren't lucky with the trial and error thing, sorry to hear it.

The sales numbers have been disappointing, meaning that Deadfire will receive only a fraction of post-release care that the original Pillars did. It's literally a waste of money for them.

... we've had 2 major patches fixing bugs since release a little over a week ago.

We've had ONE hotfix that primarily dealt with the issues related to importing save files (which is a pointless feature anyway considering that PoE 1 choices don't affect the plot of Deadfire in any meaningful way). Pillars 1 received significant updates (2.0 and 3.0) with tons of QoL features and bug fixes, while the planned DLC for Deadfire and another pointless sidekick don't inspire confidence.

After all is said and done, this game is gonna end up abandoned like Tides of Numenera - a broken mess.

Not true, we've had patch 1.01 and patch 1.02 neither of which were hotfixes. Hotfixes are tiny patches meant to fix one specific issue. Multiple issues have been fixed/addressed between these two patches including: pillars 1 imports, fixes to the amount of reputation gained per action, fixes to a few of the bugged achievements, fixes to issues with saving custom AI behaviors (I actually experienced this one before the patch), some fixes to the memory leak problem experienced by some users (although many have said its not entirely fixed it is much better).

Not to mention they have been very forthcoming with developer interaction both here on the forums, just look at the sheer volume of threads with [OBS] tags in the main 3 forums (there are a lot of them). Developers have been answering numerous specific questions such as "Will there be the ability to skip the intro scene?" A: yes, "Will POTD difficulty be increased?" A: yes patch 1.1.

About 20 minutes ago they just made another announcement with details about patch 1.1, what it will include and when it will be released. It's on steam go read it. Being released next month.

Finally, your comment about the stuff on POE1 those updates/patches came MONTHS after release. We've had two patches in the first week of release, access to public dev beta branch, numerous open commentary from developers, notifications about 3 DLCs upfront (this was not the case with White March 1 and 2), and now we have a confirmation message of the first major update a mere week and a half after release. So your statements are just not true, proveably so.

I probably got the spelling of the names wrong; but the two houses in Queen's Berth.

I was going back and forth (trying to do the peaceful thing) - told Boderos about the Valaria's wanting to get to their vault. Went back to the Valaria to warn them that they know about their plan. Dad yells at his son. Dad then says tell Valaria to come to my house, I will not fall for no trap. I go to Valaria - and she says, "You don't think we have spies?" And turns aggressive. (Not sure why). Forced to kill her. Go down to the vault, forced to kill the captain. Go back to the Boderos and they tell me to kill Valaria. And I'm like, "Um...."

This isn't a bug you played the encounter wrong. To resolve it peacefully you do not warn the Valaria, I forget the exact path but there is an option to encourage a meeting while talking to the Valarian elder. You go back to the other house then tell her they want to meet. There are a couple of back and forths. Why do you think they wouldn't act hostile if they knew you betrayed their trust? She specifically tells you when you leave to not let them find out about her hiring you to spy on them.

See the 4th post in this thread where I said:

I thought the same thing that because I had mentioned the vault thing... so I restored, redid the whole thing - and she still turned aggressive. So since I wanted to side with the Bardattos, I figured there's apparently no way to actually make this a peaceful ending - and ended up completing the quests for her - and letting the Val family go for the vault and ambush the Val family member there - then go to their house and slaughter them after. Le Sigh.

I am moving on past it, but yes - it's either poorly written (my sole complaint about the game so far!) or buggy.

This is how the peace option is supposed to work:

    http://www.ign.com/wikis/pillars-of-eternity-2-deadfire/Family_Pride

Interesting. I had my Diplomacy at 8 when I started this quest ... and was never able to convince her.

Anyone else able to resolve this quest peacefully? That link makes it look way too easy... and it didn't seem to work out no matter what I tried.

Yes, I resolved peacefully on the first try. The key to resolving any conflict peacefully in Deadfire is to not do anything that the character's personality will be specifically peeved by. Like I said above, this is directly indicated in this instance in the first conversation with the Bardettos matriarch (e.g. "Don't let them find out we are behind this").

Btw, you also have to mediate the meeting between the two once you set it up. And there are several different outcomes here as well (some of which are only available with certain dispositions or skill checks)

Where did you get this information? There are no reputable sources of accurate sales figures for this game yet. There are numerous people speculating based on indirect information such as sales reviews and peak hours played on steam. These don't take into account other markets in which POE2 has been very blatantly outperforming other competitors for weeks even before release (GOG being a prominent example). If you couple this with the fact that almost no Obsidian financial resources were used to create the game (because it was crowdfunded) this means whatever they are making now is almost entirely net profit.

Also, I don't know what you are talking about POE1 received okay after release support but it wasn't anything special. In fact, the devs have been far more engaged here on the forums with players this time around than during the last launch, we've had 2 major patches fixing bugs since release a little over a week ago. Another major patch which has been hinted specifics for the quality of life features (such as bypassing the starting sequence) and other bugs and increased modding support has been announced already. We know upfront this time we will be receiving 3 DLC packages with teased story content, and we even know when the first one will hit (July).

    Please don't spread misinformation.

  8. This is on my list of mod notes currently. I keep a couple of journal entries while playing on things I think should be changed. This will require editing the game assembly though, which I can do now with the help of patchwork framework. A lot of the things I have planned are on hold for the moment though for several reasons, so no idea when I might get around to that specific thing.

I thought you were talking about the ability to change class/starting attributes. I've never encountered a loss of abilities while using respec feature. Though if you mean bonus stats or abilities from 3rd party sources such as trainers, well I would say that respecing would probably remove them as a respec is inherently a reset of abilities back to factory settings. That doesn't seem like a big either, simply a feature set some people would like. There is a difference between a feature not working as people would like or they think is missing and what a bug encompasses: bugs are explicitly unintended behavior as a result of coding errors.

When you respec you lose all your Watcher abilities and the only way to get them back is via the console. Are you going to claim that's intended behaviour?

That would be a bug, but again I've never encountered that issue. Perhaps it is present for some (which would be indicative of a bug). I have respeced in my original playthrough in the first 6 hours and didn't lose any abilities including the watcher abilities.

  10.

I expected bugs, personally. Just not the broken import, relationships and respec. Still waiting for my (one and only) playthrough.

Relationships were fixed in the second patch released over a week ago now. The Respec issue is not a bug, it's just a feature a lot of people would like. Import was also fixed over a week ago.

People keep parroting this game has X bug, and largely what I am seeing is people talking about release bugs that are either already fixed or are not really bugs but feature requests. POTD difficulty is also not a bug btw, it is a balance issue, one they have already addressed will be improved in the next 2 patches.

Losing abilities while respeccing is a feature? Whatever floats your boat, man.

And no, not everything is fixed.

  11. I don't understand. Why don't you just change the Blunted Criticals value amount? (Instead of removing the mod).

Because of mod compatibility. What if another mod author decides to make a slew of weapons that use this modifier in the future and someone wants to use both? As I am planning on making numerous modifications to existing guns in my next iteration of this mod, which will render it incompatible or needing a patch with any other type of gun altering mod anyways, it makes more sense to alter each weapon individually.

This should be a rule of thumb all mod authors take into consideration when making a new mod which is: modifying as little as possible. Modifying base values for item mods should be avoided unless someone is making a large sweeping mod alteration like a total conversion or major rebalance mod (that touches multiple aspects of the game).

Why is this ruining your game? Those are rather pitiful damage numbers, to be honest. It's just hitting a large number of targets and missing like a 1/3 of them on each attack.

    That's all from one attack.

It's still pitiful even by aoe standards, try empower + meteor storm on wizard then get back to me about aoe damage.

  13. What is the total bonus power level of your character and what are the sources?

+1PL from evoker, requires great sacrifizes.

+6PL from potion looks very easy in comparison.

+1 from Prestige, well it is tier 9 passive

+2 Nature Godlike, probably too much,

    +2 from gear (i suppose)

Power level buffing is a large part of the problem with the OPness of alot of aspects in this game's balance issues. Honestly, I feel like PL buffs should be capped at +3 or +4 and/or give diminishing returns to damage/effects.

Also empower single abilities is an issue as well. It should be changed/removed/reworked. It can not stay like it is and have any kind of balanced difficulty, especially when resting is free.

There are a few others as well but most don't have the number of features this one does. I might understand if you were complaining about 1 or 2 shotting boss mobs, like I have done on my dual-wielding rogue out of stealth (200 damage+ single target from one attack in less than 2 seconds at the beginning of combat). I'm surprised not many people have been complaining about the OPness of the rogues this time around (I guess not many people are playing one since they were extremely **** in POE1). I laugh my ass off while blinking around the battlefield one-shotting everything.

  16. Obsidian already delayed the launch and fixed quite a few bugs. Games and software, in general, are almost never going to be 100% on release especially complex games or software. Please point me to a modern game from the last decade of any type of complexity that either has no bugs or did not have some bugs on release. That being said, software studios are a business, and businesses have to stay profitable, Obsidian is not necessarily a small company but they aren't a giant in the industry either. They have had money and partnership issues several times over the last 5 years, indeed it was the entire reason that POE1 was crowdfunded because it wouldn't have happened otherwise. The Kickstarter money they made to fund development for POE2 basically ran out around the beginning of the year.

Also, I hear a lot of people saying that there are HUGE levels of bugs in this game, what you say is "not tolerable", exactly what kind of bugs are we talking about specifically here? I've yet to run into more than 2 bugs personally and neither were game breaking. Part of the reason that QA testing is so difficult in today's market is that you have a perfect storm of uncontrolled variables: premade engines not originally developed by the game creators (but in many cases such as this one heavily altered), cross-platform targeting to as many platforms as possible, a vastly large difference in consumer levels of viable hardware it is probably the largest it has ever been for a game as non-demanding as this and so you have a large swath of people playing on hardware that is 2 or 3 generations old. People are also most likely playing on either Windows 10 or Windows 7 those OS are vastly different at this point in both support and features. I could go on but you get the picture.

The idea that they could hire 5 people to play their game for a few days and find all the bugs and fix them is just absolute horse**** from both a technical and financial standpoint. I sure as hell hope you don't buy many games from other gaming companies because this level of "tolerability" is very benign compared to most of the market.
