  1.

I love it longer casting time and less base damage what a change...talk about a total nerf.

On the one hand summoned weapons were very powerful in Pillars and, with multiclassing, would have been even more so, so making them less powerful seems reasonable. On the other hand, in their current form they are (I think) too weak. Even the Priest's Spiritual Weapons, which are pretty powerful, are severely handicapped by their long cast time.

I also think Obsidian missed a trick by not making summoned weapons scale with spellcaster power level (instead they scale with character level). Had they done this there would have been a built in weakening of them when wielded by a multiclass character and thus less need to nerf them to deal with this change. Moreover it means that the Conjurer hardly benefits from their increased power level when casting these spells (they gain increased duration to the already plenty long enough duration of them).

Lol maybe Power Level should cut casting time instead. 5-10% per power level lol?

    But ur idea makes sense.

I really wanted to play a magus type but if the casting times stay this long really little reason to pick a primary caster unless you are a Druid. Might as well mix monk with Paladin, Fighter or Barbarian.

Ok, but there's no point to both arguments in this discussion.

"as backup until something better" - that fits for every weapon in the game and says nothing about the overall effectiveness.

"because I liked the name and backstory" - that also can fit for every weapon in the game regardless of how bad it is. I once finished a playthrough with fully enchanted torches because I liked the looks...

I was being sarcastic it was crap. sorry if it didnt come across that way.

ROFL - ok. Maybe my sarcasm detectors need an overhaul. ;)

Nah its fine tried to be subtle and didn't use an emojis.

  4. I suppose it being equivalent isnt as bad since spells are per encounter of course you are still at a disadvantage compared to someone with a normal weapon because you have to waste the first 6-8 seconds summoning your weapon. Seems like you should be getting a better weapon still considering your weapon has a timer and causes you to stand around and do nothing at the start of every fight.

Also what is the point of the Conjurer Subclass if your Summoned Weapon only scales on Character Level? A weak summon that is random? That seems like a raw deal.

  5. If it was up to me, i'd definitely try to make it so that Conjurers would actually get to choose what familiar they want to have at character creation, with each having different bonuses. There could also be familiar-specific spells. Something like "Switch places", where your character would switch places with the familiar (especially if the familiar was immune to engagement and relatively fast moving, it could be used defensively), heck, maybe even spells that empowered or transformed the familiars into more fearsome forms for a duration, making them more effective combatants (like, if the familiar is a small wurmling, the spell would turn it into a drake, if it's a kitten, it would turn it into a lion, and so on).

Also, i don't know about the Ogre transformation, from what i've seen, it seemed kinda... boring. I wish it was something more like Sauron from the Shadow of Mordor games (i know, i know, the games pretty much butcher Lord of the Rings lore and the newest one is an awful microtransaction machine, but the transformation sequence is pretty cool)

Basically you want Tenser Transformation and yeah I am salty about conjurer not picking their own familiar.

  6. Does it really kill the muscle wizard with the new spell specialization you could focus on buffs?  Although I suppose it matters do summoned weapons run on Strength or Resolve but a more Illusion or Transmutation Wizard would be fine. Still they fixed this are looking at pen now if only they can slash cast times we might get good. Preventing a dump stat was always a pipe dream

  7. I think the poster just means not being able to pick your grimoire spells so your stuck switching between mutiple ones if you dont get lucky and have the spells you want in one book.

As far as I can tell Cipher, Priest and Wizards were deemed to strong and got absolutely battered by restricted spell list, spell casting times and pen. I don't add Druids cause they have built in melee effectiveness.

  8. Yes - best way to use a wizard at the moment is to multiclass with a martial class and make use of the self buffs only (because they are very good compared to all the offensiv spells).

And not the summoned weapons it should be noted cause the fights done when you finish casting lol.

Granted Evocation tends to always be like that broken or useless. The pen doesn't help of course.
