  1. The big question is why they are spending resources on a Mac version... Windows is obvious because so many people use it. The reason I think Linux will be successful is that they don't have so many big-budget games so they are willing to spend money on what they can get.

...with Windows 8 going down the hill, it's good to have another open-platform to turn to if it goes really bad.

  2. This game (series) is more like Neverwinter Nights right, when it comes to camera, gameplay, etc. rather than KotOR II and Alpha Protocol?

If yes, to that question, then I'm a bit skeptical. I find it a bit waste of time to develop... this game. Obsidian's resources are better spent elsewhere, on another game. But - I'll keep an eye out for this one anyway, I might come across something interesting.

  3. Huh, you should meet him in Rome a couple times. One in the cafe, one in his villa, and one in the museum (bossfight).

Yes, I'm talking about the endgame. I've already met him in Rome, fought him at his villa and museum but...

    now he's gone?

I just noticed there's another topic about him, in another section.

  4. Oh, one Sega (support) employee told me the game uses activation through the Mac address - meaning I still only have used one; and it's possible to de-activate...?

That makes more sense. I thought I was stuck to not change hardware or anything on the period the protection lasted, Sega have mentioned they'll remove the DRM protection within 18-24 months, I think.

    Anyways, thanks! :sorcerer:

  5. Killzone 1 was awful, yet it received a pretty damn good sequel.

The same looks to be happening with the Two Worlds francise. The first was terrible, yet #2 looks at least solid.

AP is better than the original KZ and TW, so it should get a sequel, imo.

But didn't both of those games sell good? As for the AP sales, it's impossible to tell as the game haven't hit the American shelves yet.

  6. The arcade in Brayko's mansion.. I swear that's music from Deus Ex playing on a loop... throw in Mina's comment about recognising the music playing over the earpiece... :verymad:

Speaking of Brayko's mansion: Turn up the radio...!

I think this one should be moved, allowing us to discuss music without being worried about spoiling for others.

  7. This game is superior, in every department that matters, to ME2.

    I haven't played ME2, so I will say ME2 is ME1 in this case.

I can't say it's better in tech department or graphical. The story, the characters, the impact and choices are far superior in AP over ME1. Alpha Protocol may have its bugs and issues, but if/when you get over that it's really a fun game - as you can replay it and not game the same experience. That's quality! :verymad:

  8. Steven Heck, damn... just like Atton, but in a very different and good way. I love him.

Also Marburg, that Russian mob. His voice actor is excellent - he perfectly delivers the tone for that character.

Brayko for his attitude, and his badass behavior.

Scarlet for... being female. :- But, seriously, I just really liked her character: it felt believable and realistic.

Sie was cool in that way she was mute: fascinating and unique. Sometimes, it felt that she was actually speaking. Good writing!

I'd love to see the characters I missed, like that German-Russian girl in Moscow. I never encountered her.

  9. I really dig the Moscow Safe house music but I can't find it. Heck Obsidian, you really need to name your packages better.

You're not even supposed to extract music :-

I remember however hearing the very same tune (1 minute maybe?) over and over again at one point. A bit annoying but otherwise, good. Moscow safe house you say? I didn't pay attention to it, or any of the safe houses. . .

  10. * Snipes rifles - very sensitive.

    * Hacking-mini game, the mouse makes no sense and it takes a long time to move down the word with the keyboard - sometimes the time runs out.

    * And the security locks, with 10 locks (!) and 30 seconds to fix them all. Impossible!

    * Various glitches.

    * The camera. When I look left/right the camera turns my character around often.

    * Boss fixes: some just "get stuck" and you can take them down easily, mostly ending bosses.

    * Graphics...? :p

  11. Heh, but... I bought the game for a reason.

Not a single reply for my support ticket from Sega either...

EDIT: Geeeezzz, I had to re-install: 3 activation tries left (out of 5) SERIOUSLY... Obsidian... ... ... WHY DRM?!

It's not a rhetorical question! WHY?

I'm a retail customer and this is jeopardizing my gameplay!

  12. Hello,

Some of you may remember my other thread:

    http://forums.obsidian.net/index.php?showt...p;#entry1036496

Well, other games were being screwy too when I thought about it - which made me get a new graphics card: ATI Radeon 4850. But guess what... Now the game won't start! All it says is:

    "Alpha Protocol has stopped working

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program."

Please, don't tell me to to re-install. I can't afford another activation because of that idiotic DRM protection!
