God inspirations

Well... Wael too can be... difficult at times as well. Remember the quest with the scroll? He deliberately encourages chaos among his followers "for teh lulz" essentially. The way I always understood this quest is that Wael wanted the spread of knowledge rather than the collection. His priests were collecting knowledge and trying to understand wael through that process. But wael wants his followers to basically randomly stumble across his secrets; which makes sense when you think about it: it is not the nature of secrets to be collected in one place, but to be hidden. Wael is just stopping priests who misunderstood his nature -
I still love for a Barbarian using drakes bell (estoc with 8 DR bypass) and vulnerable attack (5 DR bypass). Carnage Hits everyone with godlike 13 DR bypass... 13 <3 Estocs are in my opinion still very valuable against high DR... Maybe dual stilletos and Vurnable attack are better though when compared to normal estocs (I think they aren't as good as drakes bell though-but not sure. Don't leave one handed style out of sight though. +12 acc is huge and since a recent patch it now converts 15% of all hits to crits. That's really good... For example a one-handed rouge with upgraded dirty fighting basically only crits with one handed. That's especially nice with weapons that have on-crit effects. A barbarian can also make great use of this... There's a build for that around here somewhere. It's called the trash man I believe

Just wondering... What was your idea for the devil? 40% penalty? Really? Right now she's gunning (she's not the best companion, but awesome to have around) to avoid huge speed loss through the penalty. Thinking of trying to riposte her... What were the original thoughs?

DD=Damage Dealer A DD fighter is a fighter focused on dealing damage rather than defense. Their very sturdy, and their high acc and talents like weapon mastery and confident aim make them excellent reliable damage dealers

3.04? Update on our next patch
Ben No.3 replied to Sking's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Has it already mentioned that on some occasions medium round shields (wood ones) become invisible (stats remain though). And sometimes when switching weapons in combat, their respective reload animations won't play if they are ranged. For example a bow is stuck in "normal" animation (so no pulling the string-the characters do, the bow doesn't). Apparently there is always an arrow stuck on the bow in that case. Less noticeable with big weapons, but for example the aralbest's handles won't turn when reloading. The bug remains even after the fight an reload, only solving is through restart of the game -
You should add on a side note that low Dex only is viable with Riposte, otherwise it is simply to slow...

i don't think it were +2 mech, but specifically trap accuracy... I'll look into it. But obviously Gloves of manipulation are awesome as well.Hopefully I'll have a chance to play the game today...

If I remembered it correctly, there are gloves that give a huge bonus to trap accuracy (like 18 or something) and a +1 to Dex... These might fit well with your build. Then I'd value Int above Res... Rouge has poor defenses anyway, and good old Don could gain a lot from longer Effect-durations. Like say, longer negative effects for enemies thus more sneak attack hits. I'd also consider the possibility of going riposte with this one... Might fit the idea of a more passive rouge. Maybe for riposte something like M15-C16-D3-P16-I10-R18. Dumped Dex because of the way riposte works. High Per and Mig to get the most out of an attack. High Con and Res for high Defenses, no dumped Int for the same reason and to avoid shorter Durations. Pick up good armour (ideally plate), a small shield and a hard hitting weapon. I personally like maces and warhammers for riposte (but then again I rarely use it). Or the sabre with the fireball enchant from the endless paths. Use any sort of item that boosts your defenses, we need those desperately (unless something boosts mech, then you might consider using that for the sake of the build's main theme). Don't use the riposte as a main tank though... And just to be picky: You put Dex and Con the wrong way around . But nice build anyway it's cool to see a "classic" rouge postet around here Two Big edits.... Sry

Facing a Certain Dilemma
Ben No.3 replied to Soaren's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Oh please, the "whiners" are the true heroes of the gaming community (okay not all-but several; where would be without them? Still soloing on Rouge, hating Paladins and bashing Rangers ). Now, the stats actually aren't that important for roleplay. I mean, obviously it comes into play at many points, but for example at a point in the story you can make an in it's nature similar argument with an high int stat or an high rational-reputation. At an other point (in WM) you can either be an complete badass with high con or be able to cast a certain helpful wizard spell to successfully complete a text-event. People also react on most of the cases to your reputation, race or background. And even for the stats, every stat has it's moments... Even the all-time-dumper con can come into play. But trust me... I know your issue. I've restarted this game so many times because I was unpleased about how my character developed . Early example: I had a monk who was a smuggler in a port somewhere in the watery world, and I came pretty far (almost at act 3), but at some point I learned a lot about the monks, and I found my character (Whitty pale elf smuggler criminal) so unfitting I restarted (though that was probably rushed... Could have spun a story around it). P.S.: if you want a spellcaster with good mental stats, I'd like to recommend a dedicated CC wizard with something like a 6-6-14-16-18-18 (maybe doesn't exactly work out, sry if that is the case) stat spread. You'll get pretty fast, extremely accurate, very long lasting Effects and a lot of dialog options (except for body focused mig and con checks obviously). Won't do a lot of damage, but CC is the strong side of poe's wizard (in my opinion). Other than that have fun with this awesome game Edit: Well a bit late... Sry about that -
Now... I'm late, but: wouldn't Angio's Gambeson be THE ideal armour for this build? It's a padded, so low recovery time (even less with durgan), has valian lore ( ), a +2 Athletics AND (most important) a DAoM spellbind. And that spellbind would make this build very.... Entertaining. Also the spellbind could make the build more independent from the speed enchant, so he could carry something like spelltounge and unlaboured blade or simply even more speed-stacking to make the fastest attacker in the game Edit: imagine... Dual wield + talent + speed enchant + swift strikes + DAoM + move speed 6 (7 on sugar)...You won't even need interrupts, casters will drop dead before they can cast a single spell!

God inspirations

And it is an interesting thing about Skaen (at least for me) - the natural instinct for most people is to sympathise with people who got exploited, e.g. slaves. So you should like a god who is their champion of sorts, right? But then you realize that Skaen is also the god of hatred, resentment and betrayal. This is the kind of ambiguity I appreciate. The quest involving skaenites in Dyrfort accentuates it very well. In essense, the priest there wants to fight against priviliges that nobles are entitled to in a feudal society. But what did he do? He sacrificed hundreds of human beings in an extremely bloody ritual in order to mind-rape an already unjustly harmed woman. The cause is a noble one and I would gladly watch a man like Harond die, but the means the priest resorted to are just so over the top crazy... But this is Skaen in a nutshell - theoretically noble goals, practically insane methods.Even if skaen's motives are essentially good, even when just specifying they seem to be quite radical. Does a rapist necessarily deserve nothing but death, without a trial? If we strive to be a fair society, we must treat everyone the same way, may he be a rapist or a fighter for freedom. This should especially apply in the Dyrwood, a somewhat more democratic country (although its politics are flawed-but then again, "democracy is the worst system but the others" (Churchill) ). But while this viewpoint might be objectively right (in my opinion... Discussions welcome), I'm the eyes of the surpressed the surpressor deserves death without a trial. And the interesting part about skaen is, skaen himself seems to think that way... He also seems to be somewhat more polarising than the other gods... Do you remember the journal from one of skaen's followers? I don't think any other God could bring his followers to that point. -
Least Liked Companions

I'd think of it as a Buddhistig way of reincarnation. The problem with the witchs was the artificial transplantation of souls, as opposed to "nature-given" -

About skaen... The way I always understood him was as a not necessarily evil character, but more of a rebell of sorts... Helping slaves out of slavery (though through murder), fighting those who abuse their power (though through murder and treason). A God of the overlooked -
Generally I agree with boeroer. However, if you want that theme going on, I might suggest a pirate-based party. Perhaps frontline a chanter (name his chants after pirate songs ) and a tanky fighter. Offtank barbarian. Then a rouge (Gotta have one for pirates), alternatively blunderbuss/pistol/arquebus ranger. Then a cipher or a wizard (though cipher might be the better choice, especially for a player-character). Finally a priest (RP-wise of skaen, as boeroer said also a good pc), or if you don't like the idea of a pirate-priest a Druid (who has support spells and heals as well).

Class popularity

But... Why? Poor monk always seemed to be auch a good class...
