Think about America. Remember that they majority of its congressmen are millionaires. Remember that the vast majority of its media is owned by very few companies. Remember that the president, millionaire himself, appoints family members to top political positions, that he fires those who investigate against him, that he shames the press, refuses to answer critical questions, that he propagates lies to further his agenda, that he considers democratic decision making processes a hindrance. And then tell me that America is a democracy.

„I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.“ HA! HAHAHA! HAHAHAHAHAHA! Years of indoctrination and that is what America gets?

Unless you happen to be a country that Germany conveniently uses to devaluate the Euro in order to maximize their exports. In which case you're pretty much scewed for years to come. It also really put a dent to the entire "union" part of the union. Because instead of helping and punishing the real culprit of the entire mess it's time to kick someone who is already on their last leg for fun and profit. Oh, and you're one of the biggest defenders of that. But that's okay I guess, I mean, it comes with the turf and all. Dont be a hater young man, remember money cant buy you happiness.... but it can buy everything else Money can't buy you freedom, it takes it. Mauvaise fois 101

Been seeing these stickers all around Europe, or at least where I've been recently/where I have friends in contact with me. Does anyone know what they are? It seems like something somewhat existentialist to me. Though I obviously have a certain bias towards that, so what do others think?

EU=/=Europe EU=/=European ideal Point me to the people who actually consider that their ideals You missed the opportunity for a EUSSR joke. Sad Prove me wrong. A claim you have to prove

Good stuff from Europe: -democracy -humanistic values -Christian values -modern philosophical values -socialism/capitalism (whichever you fancy) -dozens over dozens of important scientists -Added: Adorno, Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, Kant, Bourdieu, Weber, Camus, deBeauvoir, Sartre, Marx, Smith, Durkheim, Rousseau, Descartes,... That's just of the top of my head

1. I am proud of this result as it shows the will of the European people to stand together, united 2. The EU is an undemocratic institution that has to be severely reformed. Important steps would also be to create a unified financial policy, which Macron supports. 3. I am a proud European in the sense that i belive im the European ideal of one unified people 4. Do you have a better flag in mind?

Watch my words. I said Europe, not EU
-
How exactly do you blame Trump/Obama (whichever side you're on...) on Europe?
-
We are hanging EU flags out of our windows right now. Today is one of the few days where I get a sense of patriotism; today, I am a patriotic citizen of Europe

I love my girlfriend. I am objectifying "my girlfriend". Just to be clear. I use blue text when I'm just screwing around. I realize objectification isn't about de-ghosting people. It's a joke. "my girlfriend" is the object (in the sense of grammar) of the sentence "I love my girlfriend", so you could say I am objectifying "my girlfriend" (again, in a grammatical sense). Which is why the apostrophes in "my girlfriend" are there... they indicate that I am referring to the phrase "my girlfriend" rather than to my girlfriend herself. If I would be saying that I actually objectify my girlfriend, I wouldn't use apostrophes.

Why do I like this so much? This is wrong in so many ways. But I love it

7th grade History (technically called Social Science)You have my interest... [...] how interested is the "average student"? Isn't there an old adage about youth being wasted on the young? If I had to guess, I would think that's probably your answer for a lot of kids. There are rumours of these socially kinda akward kids who take genuine interest in history, politics, philosophy and the like. Purely hypothetical. Of course. Not like I know any such persons. Ahem.

Are the personal attacks really necessary?Well, you used your "teacher credentials" a few times to "prove" your point or that you have to be right 'coz "you're a teacher" so I'm gonna keep bursting your bubble to keep you humble. All praise our hero sharp one, defeater of all bubbles Criticism: even though you are a history teacher, you apparently lack the understanding of this specific historical event I will now explain to you so we can have a decent discussion Attack: You and everything you do and teach is $hit

I know the ones I used was weak sauce cept cracker, they were used as examples. The thing is u can flip the word and instead of "damn there's a bunch of Whitey's in here" is acceptable, but "damn there's a bunch of darkeys in here" is not acceptable right? That's what makes it confusing because it seems like a double standard. Sure, there is a double standard, but that is rooted in a long history of bigotry and systematic discrimination in the US. The reason we have all these special interest groups for minorities, or stations like BET and LOGO, is because these are groups which have been historically under-represented, mis-characterized, or worse. edit: Gorgon beat me to it and we are at start of again, so when/how long it will it take to not be an issue anymore?Until an truly egalitarian society is established. So probably not anytime soon more like never..I feel like when you would've asked a French farmer in the 16th century wether there would ever be any changes about the fundamental way the feudal society functioned, he would've said "never"
