If you don't want to instruct your companions to do anything, you're going to need to play on Easy and forget about Trial of Iron.

Certainly Grieving Mother

This isn't really the kind of game that would benefit from an open source.
-
Hadn't seen one of your posts for a while there Marceror, game turned out pretty good didn't it?
-
Hopefully Arcanum sequel
Pillars or this, Arcanum might be a flawed game but it's actual setting is excellent.

I'm surprised they let you create new companions, but then not have a means of creating voice acting for your new companion.
How would that even work?
-
But the complainers have already stated unequivocally that there are too many voice overs in this game already.

existing one. if every patch required a fresh install and restarting your game that would be terrible, no one would release it like that lol
I recall Wasteland 2 having some issues with peoples save games after updates. So far, PoE hasn't had those kinds of issues.

Just north of the "Ramshackle House" in Ondra's Gift, there is another house that is able to be entered but does not have a map marker. As far as I've seen, all the houses in the game that are able to be entered have a map marker
I make note of this because my backer NPC is in there.
Thanks

Hi! I'm a massive fan of Black Isle / Troika / Obsidian as well as a student majoring in Computer Science, a game hobbyist and an amateur game developer. (Disclaimer)
As a student and amateur game developer, you have no clue what it takes to ship a final product, simple as that.

The OP graph is confusing, as far as I remember there was no bonus in BG1 or BG2. If something was an enemy was worth 1000xp if you were solo you received 1000xp, if you had a 4 person party, each member got 250xp and so on.
-
I couldn't play the game because of Cassandra's face. She looked like a man, it was disturbing.
I'm pretty sure that is what they were going for.
-
Yeah, might be some interaction with the game and your PC, because I've got a way worse PC than you and I don't have these framedrops in battles, I used to have them while playing BG and IWD though. Could be your PC is too good m8 ^^
Maybe he has something running in the background hogging system resources.

Well lets hope unity 5 is alot better than 4
It's not entirely down to Unity, it is also how developers use the engine. PoE used a lot of bespoke rendering technology, it is likely not as optimized as it could be, but that right there is the vicious cycle of software development, it can never be fully done, can always be iterated upon.
-
Obsidian spent a lot of time building their rendering tech and tools in Unity so they could use it in future games. They will no doubt use it over in future games, including Inxile's Torment game. The fact they have this engine already built will shave many months of development of the next release.

But not being able to do that directly hurts the effectiveness of buffs
That's likely one of the reasons they have done it, buffing is now a tactical choice.

So, I guess it's time for me to repeat my question from the first page:
How, exactly, does XP get awared in this game? Isn't it just divided among party members like in BG? I haven't paid much attention to XP, but when my party gets awarded 600 XP, it looks like each individual party member receives around 100 XP.
I'm especially curious to know how XP works when you're soloing - I hear there's some sort of soloing XP bonus or something... but wouldn't a solo character already get all that XP meant for a six-character party?
Essentially it's +10% for each character slot empty. 5 total = +50%.
You gain less total XP from all sources, but it's split between fewer characters, and the net result is +10 to +50% depending on party size.
Uh... so, if a quest gives me 600 XP with a six-character party, a solo character would get 100 XP + 50% = 150 XP? Or did I misunderstand something?
If that's correct, it seems kind of strange that the game outputs the total amount of XP awarded instead of just the per-character XP, but maybe I just look at things differently than others...
I think it would be 600 XP + 50% = 900 XP for a solo character. I haven't tried soloing in PoE yet but that is how it would have worked in Infinity.
Maybe because certain classes aren't quite as OP in PoE as they were in BG or Icewind Dale

So I entered Defiance Bay and discovered that's how Act II starts.
Spoilers in the non-spoiler forums.

What's around the corner? Trashmobs. Everywhere. Its tiresome and uninspiring. Feels like mmo grind. What to expect from exploring besides exp and trashmobs? More trashmobs. Stats don't really matter in this game, magic items don't really matter either, makes the whole thing rather bland experience.
I don't know why this game is rated a 10/10 by some reviewers. Its a solid 7, an 8 once balanced and bugfixed. I'd buy more of these kind of games from obsidian, but I'm not really impressed with this one.
How is it an MMO grind, you don't get any experience by killing those mobs.

If people really want a "tougher" experience to boast about, pump up the levels of the foes in POTD and be done with it.
Completely agree, people should probably state what difficulty they're playing on when commentating about changes in this game. It reminds me of some people complaining about Crusader Kings 2 being too easy but they're save scumming, if they played on Ironman, then they would see it's much more punishing.
-
I believe the reason it is balanced as it is now is that they did not want to require a player to complete all content to be able to have a party at high enough level to complete the end. I do not see any problems with it.

The lack of pre buffing is silly, illogical, evil, disgusting, unfun, hilarious, weak, and cowardly.
At least we now know the disposition of the developers.

Pillars of Eternity II Novella
in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Posted
Last I heard the Novella was due in May of 2018. It was supposed to be written by Richard Knaak whom has written a ton in various fantasy IPs. Was looking forward to this as a backer. I'd assume this project is as good as forgotten?
