If your beta build is up-to-date with the latest beta, then nothing will download. This is the correct procedure. It will only download something new if your beta didn't get updated to build 749 OR if you never downloaded any betas in the first place.

I think you're under a misunderstanding. That's to say, you could not opt out of the beta. It was still listed as "Pillars of Eternity [beta]" even when not in the beta. Any other time I've opted out, it will remove files and download new ones. (At least on Steam.) This time no files were downloaded and it froze me in beta (despite being listed as "none (opt out)" under the game's Properties.

Edit: I'll grant you this isn't the beta bug report forum, but it's always good 'fax to keep people (who are trying to update that it won't happen the way they expect) well-informed so as not to look for their pitchforks.

If you quit Steam and go back it will go back to normal after you opt out.

I tried that before completely uninstalling, it didn't work. I even hard-booted my computer on the second attempt to verify and no luck.

  3. One thing I've noticed is that, in trying a new barbarian character, that Frenzy wouldn't activate unless I was in melee range of something. In fact, if I parked myself just out of melee range, clicking Frenzy would run me towards an enemy and then activate. (Note: It would ignore +reach weapons and instead make physical contact with an enemy as if I had a regular melee weapon. E.g., force me to disengage and risk retaliation.)

Is that intended behavior? Because the risk vs reward makes the talent useless.

  4.

For instance, Eder's Saint's War armour is +3 piercing and base DR of 7 (6 for piercing), for a cumulative effect of +9. This registers properly. Enchanting it to Fine, adding a base +2 adds +2 across the board but now either ignores Proof: Piercing or doesn't stack them.

I think you've got your math mixed up there.

Scale armor has a base DR of 7, and its Pierce DR is 75% of that. 7 * 0.75 = 5.25, rounded down to 5 by the UI.

Edér's armor is Pierce-proof, which means its Pierce DR is (7+3) * 0.75 = 7.5, rounded up to 8 by the UI.

When you enchant it to Fine, its base DR becomes 9 and its Pierce DR becomes (9+3) * 0.75 = 9.

Works perfectly fine for me as of 2.0.

I probably have my math mixed up. Whatever the case, Piercing didn't improve after enchanting Eder's Saint's War armour with Fine; it remained the same as it was pre-enchantment, which is a bug.

  5. I've played >40h now, i'm in Od Nua level 8 and both Gaun's share and Oidhreacth lost their life stealing properties. I was dual wielding with my Cipher, and now it really pisses me off, 'cause your damn 2.01 patch (on GOG) is NOT retroactive! Please correct this, it needs a hotfix.

They broke in 2.0, but 2.01 fixed it. Might be a GOG patch issue. Anyone on Steam having this issue still? (I'm on Steam and they work fine.)

  6. "Proofing" armour has been broken since beta 2.0, and nothing between then and now (2.01) has fixed it.

  7. Thessaly:  My understanding of the WM trigger is that it has nothing to do with Act 3.  Instead it triggers once you've gone to one of the places that your quest log should show you as having to visit in DB.  Reading this topic that place was mentioned in a post just above yours.

If I knew how to hide spoilers I'd say more...  but I don't so there ya go.

Good Luck and if I make it to DB and trigger WM I'll PM ya how it happened if you would like.   It may take a bit though...  I started a fresh team and haven't even made the hanging tree yet.

Sounds good, but I've done everything *except* the main quest (I always do main quests last in an area unless it feels time-pressured) and there's no indication it's ready. So, it's not when you get to Defiance bay but when you end Defiance Bay. I do appreciate the clarification though.

Just follow the mainquest and you will get the note, since for some reason you posted it in the no spoiler section.

No spoilers, exactly. It's just that the documentation simply says "Visit your Stronghold after you unlock Caed Rua." That didn't work. Then I read you had to be level 7. That also didn't work.

I've accepted the fact that there simply isn't a way to go there "early" in the game's story and I've got an idea how to access it now. Hopefully this time it works. :)

  8. Thessaly...  From what I read so far in this thread, you can open WM fairly quickly once you hit Defiance Bay.   You just have to trigger a stepping stone in the Main Quest.  I'm guessing you can do that as soon as you reach DB...  I don't know for sure as I haven't tried it yet.

I'm like you and will not pass up any side quests if it can be helped.  Though I have run into a few that don't seem to like me at all and won't trigger.

    Hope this was of help.

I appreciate the lack of spoilers, but given that I don't know anything about which quests trigger Act 3 -- coupled with the fact there is zero information from Obsidian about how to access the White March with a new game -- I just feel frustrated. I guess that just means I do all of Act 2 before getting to White March then. It really should be listed as Act 3-accessible, not Act 2. Even if it's somehow one quest shy of the full act, it's a poor implementation. Nobody's stopping once the momentum starts.

  9. Just loaded 2.01 and while I can't comment on newly dropped items with the draining enchantment on them, I can say that the change was NOT retroactive. My versions of Gaun's Share and Oidhreacht which were stripped of the draining enchantment prior to 2.01 remain unchanged after 2.01.

Mine were retroactively changed (Gaun's Share, Oidreacht, et al), and I've seen them proc. So it is definitely working for some of us.

Like I said. Use the weapons in combat and the bonuses will work and change on the character sheet. At least there is a work around unlike Barbarian Frenzy.

Is the combat-fix permanent? Or until the end of combat? My fear is that your first shots go wild, unmodified by accuracy.

The "inaccuracy" of your accuracy is just a character sheet thing.  If you read the combat log on those files the game is rolling your correct accuracy not what it says on the character sheet.  And yes it seems to be permanent after the weapon has been used.  (3 hours of playing until 4am regretting it at work today hah).

Permanent would imply post-loading; during the same session does nothing.

Also, I'd be wary. It's been proven before that when something doesn't show up on your character sheet, it's not actually working. Accuracy is notoriously among them and actually sets the precedent for being problematic, back when weapon focus wouldn't show up -- it also wouldn't apply.

Either way, this needs to be fixed ASAP.

    Hello everyone,

The problem has been fixed and applied to the 2.0.1 beta patch. If you would like to test out the beta patch to see if the issue is resolved, please click on this link.

    Thank you for your support!

Hello, I tried the beta and the problem persist. In my case, the problem started the day 31 with the problem in load times.

As far as I can tell, it's got more to do with how many saves you have for that character. The less saves, the faster loading/saving is.

  12. Hello all.  As AndreaColombo has mentioned this is fixed internally and will be available in a patch very soon.  There is no ETA that I officially know of, but it will be happening very soon.  Thanks for your support and patience during this issue.

Out of curiosity, will this be a retroactive fix? Will existing saves with the broken weapons be corrected providing they are in their original state? Or will we have to start over again?

  13. Hopping on this thread with another issue concerning Oidhreacht. I'm on the current beta build (2.00.0706) and my Oidhreacht has "forgotten" its Draining property. It had it when I picked up the stiletto from the Spider Queen, but after loading a save the property was gone. I haven't touched enchantments, so I don't think I could have overwrote it or something. It just disappeared.

Edit: Just checked my Gaun's Share and the draining property is missing from that as well. Maybe it's a bug with the property itself rather than with the items.

I can confirm; same thing happened to my Gaun's Share, Oidhreacht, and other weapons with any sort of drain (even lashes are disappearing) to be replaced with a small 10% speed drain.

Edit: Items are found in their normal state but lose properties after loading a save with them.

  14. I found a +2 perception necklace (Torc of the Falcon's Eyes), only it doesn't affect my main character (no +perception effects -- no effects AT ALL currently). It affects all of my companions fine; you can see their Accuracy and Interrupt increase, and the item appears under Active Effects, but not the main character. The Cloak of Protection (+5 defences) works fine on my main character, it's a problem with +attribute items apparently (or this one item in particular).

Easily verifiable. The cloak of protection is on Eder for comparison, torc of falcon's eyes is on my main character.
