Picked this game up cheap recently. Just wondering.. is there romance options in this game?
To clarify, as a joke, perhaps to make fun of certain games. I only ask because I noticed my character's relationship status was "single" when I started the game.

I guess this thread really just confirms it. Luzianus and MILF Lover are two distinct aspects of the same gestalt.

I cranked it up and will admit I had some trouble with the combat despite getting a crit on a wolf while hunting for berries.
I made a dwarf ranger but I'm thinking about starting again with a new character and spending more time reading up on the culture, background etc.
I must say I enjoy the text. I love reading books, and the dialogue plays out like an interactive story. Having dialogue wheel and voice acting in BW titles left players with little choice.

Would Witcher 3 still sell as well if it completely removed any trace of sexual appeal?

Well personally, I didn't care too much about the sex and the women because I was busy enjoying the gameplay. Though I will admit that the attractiveness of the women is far superior to Disney Age Inquisition.
While I respected Cassandra as a person she isn't attractive to me. And Josephine has buck teeth, a horrible outfit and to top it all off is a politician.
There weren't really any stunning women, though Sera I found was cute in her own way. Morrigan was stunning though.
I don't really care about that, however. Disney Age Inquisition is boring. The combat is clunky and the side quests are garbage, if I wanted that I would just play one of the millions of generic Mmos out there.
Of course this is just my opinion, but I found Witcher 3 gameplay to be fun, addictive and engrossing. The eye candy is just an added bonus.

That's fine, I got a refund for DAI. They lost $59.99.
Right now the people at Bioware are regretting every decision they made as they watch the success of Witcher 3 cast a vast shadow over little, itty, bitty DAI and all it's mannish, ugly women. Skyrim completely destroyed DAI in sales, now Witcher 3 will completely destroy Inquisition in sales.
What does Skyrim & Witcher series have in common? Beautiful women and/or the ability to allow the creation of beautiful women.
It just goes to show, making women look like men and lecturing gamers on transgenderism hurts sales.
HEY BIOWARE, don't give in to political correct LGBT and feminists. Go to Anita Sark and beg for your balls back, she keeps them in a jar on her shelf at her desk.
If Witcher 3 outsells DAI I doubt it'll have anything to do with how the women look.

Hey there.
Never really played CRPGs before, PoE will be my first.
My experiences in RPGs began with BioWare titles Dragon Age and Mass Effect. As I don't like the path this company is going down after Dragon Age's latest instalment, I am on the hunt for different games.
I kept hearing great things about PoE, but was also warned that it's quite hard.
And no, I don't expect a dialogue wheel, a voiced protagonist or a virtual romance.
So I've just downloaded the game off of GOG: any advice?
For the record I enjoy playing rogues with a bow. Is there a particular race I should pick that would grant me bonuses in this field?

I've completed the game but I've yet to actually work out how to play Gwent
It looks like loads of fun though, I was lucky enough to win one match without really comprehending what I was doing.

The Witcher 3 makes Disney Age: Abomination look like a joke; a rather hilarious one, at that.
I have played and finished both.
Oh sure, Disney Age has character customization. The option of playing as who you want. But do you really?
It's funny what aesthetic illusion can achieve; the sad matter is, no matter what race, class and gender you play, it is essentially the same all the way through the game. Add to that the "inquisitor" is the most boring, lame protagonist ever invented. Even the cliche'd testosterone fuelled Duke Nukem had a better personality.
The point being, they may as well have forced players into a set, pre-made protagonist - at least that would have been interesting. I had no issue whatsoever playing as Geralt, and over time had grown to like him as a person. I found his cynical sense of humour hilarious.
It doesn't stop there.
Disney Age's "open world" was ridiculous. If you are going to take another company's trademark game tactic (hello Bethesda) you have to beat them at their own game. Sure, the hinterlands looked pretty. That's fair enough. But what's the point in having an aesthetically pleasing world with nothing to do in it? The world is empty, the quests boring and very close to Guild Wars 2 (yes, I went there. MMO, though I must say Guild Wars 2 quests were actually more fun.) What's the objective? You run around with a party of characters, who talk (if you're lucky enough not to be cursed with the infamous 'banter bug' that is) gather some elfroot, bending over for a millenium to pick said elfroot up. Meanwhile, a pack of bears, wolves, templars, apostate mages come along and decide to obliterate you. But hey, it's fine, got to get this elfroot. Gotta catch 'em all.
The worlds were lifeless, empty. There is more energy and atmosphere in an old folk's home.
The Witcher 3's open world is full of life, detail and is truly beautiful. It's just a damn shame that only Skellige and Velen could be explored, when there are so many other regions according to the lore. There is an abundance of engaging - and fun - quests to do, one could even say too much. The addition of 'mini-games' such as Gwent, fist fighting and horse racing competitions were also very rewarding, when one just wanted to chill out from how overwhelming the quests actually were.
Storytelling; many people say that both Disney Age and the Witcher failed here. But I disagree. The whole time I played Disney Age I felt nothing but boredom. When I finally defeated Corypheus, I just blinked at my screen and said to myself, "Huh? That's it?"
In regard to the final battle of TW3 - it wasn't all that exciting either, and the ending had room for improvement (or rather the sequence of the ending) but there was much panic and worry. However, all through the game (talking about TW3 now) I was enthralled, hooked and wanted more, even if I knew that through every single act I would be no closer to finding Ciri, and expected dead ends until a certain point.
I won't even touch on 'romance' because I find it irrelevant and a stain on the BioWare company in general. To clarify, I am referring the fanbase and their obsessions with it, and suspect that focus on trivial matters like these is what has destroyed the game.
Needless to say, I couldn't actually give two stuffs about the romance content in TW3. I was much too preoccupied with the rest of the game. But one has to wonder if it's a good thing or a bad thing, if romance is such a big deal for BioWare. Would their games be as successful without it?
A question for another day.
