what do you mean by quit... its a single player game its not like your paying a monthly subscription fee
therefore no one cares if you stop playing they already have your money lol
what is this the WoW forums suddenly lol
-
all the skills are kinda meh, aside from mechanics which you only need on one guy
-
oh dear ten seconds is soooo long

do you have anything better to whine about?
cuz thats kinda what game forums typically become is a place for people to come to whine about the game lol
-
only being able to buff in combat basicly elemates the point of a buff lol
also for role play purposes its ridiculous lol some how my casters just cant cast lol

yeah it seems like the devs went out of their way to make some of the NPCs crappy lol

"Dragon age II - 82
Dragon age Inquisition - 85"
\
Irrelevant. That doesn't prove a game's success or failure. FO:NV was rated just under 85 (costing Obsidian millions LOL) yet it sold more than any BIO, Obsidian, or BIS game ever. LMAO
Also, just because YOU personally dislike a game doesn't make it a failure either. I loathe ES series but the series was a success.
Plus, those DA2/DA3 scores are largely about backlash to EA/BIO fatigue.
\I'd rate DA2 around 82 and DA3 probably 75ish (maybe lower dunno). PE not done with it so won't rate but definitely higher than DA3 and maybe eventually higher than DS2.
Doesn't make either of those games a failure though.
I think fallout:NV suffered due to it being sooooo bugged at release
to me its kinda a masterpiece much much better than fallout 3 or skyrim

I just wish the game had been built upon D&D 3.5 in the first place, I realize that probably was never even an option but to me it was and is one of my favorite systems

It is just one persons opinions, not a huge deal to me (8 is still a great score!)
I like Kevin's writing style and check out most of his reviews, but..... I rarely agree with him on scores or opinion on games. Still i respect his writing style and how he gets his opinion across. At the end of the day it is just one person's opinion, sure I don't agree with it (especially about the comments about dialogue/writing) but I respect his opinion and enjoyed reading the review.
Everyone will have difference of opinion on games! He liked Dragon Age 2 (same score as Pillars) and I hated it. He hated Alpha Protocol, I liked it. He loves the Dark Souls games, I find them slightly overrated and very lacklusting in writing, Gamespot gave Mask Of The Betrayor 7.7 back in the day but for me its a top 10 rpg of all time, He likes Inquisition more than Pillars, etc... You can go on and on about differences of opinions in games, even amongst friends, nevermind game reviewers.
For me Pillars is the best of the resurgence of crpgs, but I won't be mad if someone enjoyed Divinity, Shadowrun Dragonfall or Wasteland 2 more than Pillars, I had a blast on those games.
OMG the gave mask of the betrayer 7.7? thats crazy lol Its like the pinnacle of dnd 3.5 gaming

I agree that exploring this sort of setting in first person could be cool.
However Skyrim's engine is garbage. Really, really garbage. It just makes everything clunky feeling, movement and combat just feel bad in that engine. Even when other developers, including Obsidian, used it.
Also you can lose a lot of the dark/gritty feeling when you have to look at 3D graphics, even the good ones. Isometric pulls off a certain aesthetic that's rare to find in 3D. There's an element of mystery in not looking at awkward faces poorly mouthing words at you, and so on. Text and a more distant view allows for more imagination to fill in the blanks with something more elegant than 3D computer graphics.
you know for all thing things the elder scrolls series does well its always baffled me that not one of them can find a way to do combat that's not clunky and often down right bad lol

yes the art work is superb

Why are all topics like this about "combat efficiency"?
The last 3 stats are very useful for conversation options.
that also bugs me I find so many times that resolve is used in conversation but its a useless stat for me lol
-
Wait... is 8 a bad score?
If you took tests at school/university, based on a scale of 1-10, and your score was 8, would you really find it bad? Really?
yeah most of the time an 80% would be a let down for me

Scores are useless.
Take the content of the review and use it critically to apprise the product.
wise words
-
I dont like how some stats are reflected from a role play perspective, my cipher for example has High might, because I wanted him to do decent damage
but in conversations he is always the one lifting people up and breaking stuff so might is basically strength but it is need on casters as well, so my casters can do physical tasks that my big tank guy cannot lol
-
yeah 8/10 is really not to bad
I always hated 1-10 rating systems
I like how PC gamer does things 1-100
they gave Pillars 92%
PC gamer is actually the only mainstream reviewer that I even half trust

But they could have made 3D fixed iso view CRPGs, like the ARPG genre continued with Sacred 2 / Torchlight series / Diablo 3 / Path of Exile.
I never understood why this never happened with CRPGs.
wow I never thought someone would mention the original PoE on these forums, Path of Exile is an amazing game however
I can't play with Path of Exile camera. Too restrictive.
And the small inventory is way more tedious than camping resources could ever be.
well they do that so they can sell stash space lol, still to me when someone types PoE ill always thing path of exile lol

Hey dont bash 3.5,
3.5 is much better than the system the game uses, I mean 3.5 was far from balanced but in terms of number of viable and even competitive options 3.5 crushes this game lol

Also I thought Morrowind was the one and still one of the best 3D RPGs ever. Very few others engrossed me as much as Morrowind did.
I know right, how freaking awesome was morrowind
It was easily better than oblivion and at lest on par with skyrim

As long as I don't have a massive spyware client on my pc, I'm fine getting patches a bit late.
what are you up to that makes you so afraid of being spyed upon lol

Ciphers and Chanters are odd, quirky, home-brewed and too-kool-for-skool classes that had to be favoured above the classes of yore.
What?
Chanters are clearly Bards.
Ciphers are just Pisonics.
Both have existed in Dungeons and Dragons since the 1970s.
well they are the same in spirit but in terms of how they play they are significantly different

Time to whack out the custom portraits for a Maiden run.
if you make a mod for that I want it lol
No buffing outside of combat, why?

I liked pre-buffing and long term buffs
long term buffs were great simply because they were not tedious at all since you only had to put them on once and a while, in D&D i keep greater mage armor on at all times on my entire party for example
