I'll call it an 'it' if I want to call it an 'it' ... what it gonna do? Cry?

I don't know, man. I suppose they'll be angry at you. Why are you quoting me, anyway?

Wow, Im so affected over it becoming angry at me over the internet that I should suddenly start censoring myself.

No, man, you don't understand. I was merely saying that you have quoted the wrong person.

  2. "Fell" to his death. Instead of killing himself because he was ashamed that he slept with someone who was 1) presenting themself as a woman and, 2) was, in fact, a male.

If there's anyone who is painting the poem in a certain light in order to serve his agenda, it's the flagrant bigots flooding this thread.

How do you know that the other person presented himself as a woman? That he was a male is clearly stated in the original poem, but not the first thing you take for granted.

I love how you think anyone will take you guys professed motives seriously when your posts lecture about how misgendering is ok.

Like, credibility went all the way out the window there.

Do you even know what "misgendering" means? Would you care to point me to what posts "misgender" somebody? I've been reading the replies here and I haven't seen anybody misgender anybody else. I might have glided over those parts you see so clearly, or you might just be making up words and definitions, like that twitter person and their "transmisogyny".

    Here are some definitions:

    http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/misgender

Calling a trans woman "he" or "it" when their preferred pronouns are "she/her" is called misgenderingTransmisogyny is basically the intersection of transphobia and misogyny: misogyny that trans women face primarily because of their trans status. This isn't very difficult to understand.

"Calling a trans woman "he" or "it" when their preferred pronouns are "she/her" is called misgendering."

Absolutelly, yes. Where's the trans woman, though? What trans woman are you talking about?

"Transmisogyny is basically the intersection of transphobia and misogyny: misogyny that trans women face primarily because of their trans status."

There's a word for this: transphobia. It's a word that can be used when talking about both trans women and trans men. It already exists and it's already seen as an awful thing, like homophobia. This isn't very difficult to understand.

  5. Hyperbole is hyperbole. Before anyone gets immolated under the fires of the Internet forum court of public opinion, let's consider context and situation?

I don't know nor do I care about this individual nor do I care one way whether Obsidian "caved," let's not make this issue a bigger deal then what it really is?

A joke was made. Somebody got offended. Obsidian looked at it, saw the ambiguously gray area of it, and contacted the backer in question. They agreed to change it and make another joke about it. Nothing unreasonable happened.

THe problem lies at "Somebody got offended.". Somebody got offended about something that could be interpreted in various ways and that alone was able to change the content of a game. The joke could be interpreted in the following ways:

    • The man was drunk and slept with another man by mistake
    • The man was not drunk but was tricked into sleeping with a man
    • The man slept with a trans
    • Some illusion spell or something cast by a mage, I don't know
    • The man was forced to sleep with another man? (Rape)
    • etc
    • etc 2
    • etc 3

Why does a single of these possible interpretations have the ability of erasing the whole thing that started it? As you said, it was ambiguous. If it was ambiguous, it was meant to be vague, you were meant to imagine what happened by yourself. Your imagination and judgement has no right to dictate what should and shouldn't be in a game (unless you're the dev/shareholder/etc).

And there's another thing here: the joke was aimed at the man who killed himself, not at the other person. If the joke had made fun of the other man for being a trans, then it would be transphobic and offensive. But the original joke wasn't.

  6. Because people like to make up words to get attention, who the heck knows? That is off-topic.

Let this thread die already. It has already been pointed out that the original text does not establish that one of the people involved is transgendered. Said person could be transgendered or the dude who killed himself could have been drunk or high, or... who knows? An illusion spell cast by a mage who had a grudge against the person who killed himself?

Useless discussion about a non issue.

  7. Where in the text? The text says that a man had sex with someone they THOUGHT was a woman. At no point is that person explicitly stated to be trans, or anything else. I used the example of the guy being sloshed as a case of "I was drunk and had sex with a guy, thinking they were a woman". So, as far as I can tell, there is no actual link to trans people beyond interpretation.

Wait, that makes a lot of sense. The man could have been dead drunk. It's a possible possibility. But that would really make these 23 pages of discussion useless.

  8. This is getting a bit derailed. Back on topic: Can anyone provide me evidence that this in any way does relate to trans people,a nd not (In example) just someone getting utterly sloshed?

Mate, it does relate to trans people, it says so in the text, the problem is that some people seem to think that the text makes fun of trans people instead of the man who killed himself. Incidentally, those people are the ones who are offended by practically anything that moves. It's nothing. Nothing at all. 22 pages of nothing at all. 22 pages that discuss a problem that is not a problem in the first place.

  9. I'm going to explain this once, which you will no doubt ignore.

How high is the possiblity of there being an actual killing spree against men by "SJWs"?

Ok, how many times has the panic defense actually been used by murder defendants?

Also, are you going to post here again or did you make an account just for that?

"Ok, how many times has the panic defense actually been used by murder defendants?"

8 times. I counted it from the link you have provided.

"How high is the possiblity of there being an actual killing spree against men by "SJWs"?"

About as high as somebody killing somebody else and then blaming it on the "Gay panic defense" bull****. Actually, it would be 0. Those people don't have the balls to do anything. They just complain.

"Also, are you going to post here again or did you make an account just for that?"

    I'm going to keep posting.

  10. What's up with so many pages of discussion?

From all the badly-written, fanfiction.net-tier backer crap that we got in the game, this is the first thing I see that actually fits the world of Pillars of Eternity. And this thing's not even a joke about trans people, it's a joke about a dude who decided to kill himself, a radical decision, because he simply slept with a man. I hope you can see that the funny part is not the trans person in itself, but the man killing himself because he slept with a man.

Also, the person who got triggered by the joke is somebody who tweets things like "I still plan to #KillAllMen. Not changing that goal ever.". Christ, those people will never not be offended. They'll always find things to complain about.
